User Image He was an early riser and had woken before his siblings with a massive amount of energy. The question was, what to do with it? He flicked his tail wildly and darted away from the sleeping area so as to not disturb anyone. Hmmm. Where could he go? There was always the crafting area, but he had a habit of making a huge mess there. Perhaps there was food somewhere. His tiny stomach grumbled at him and it was decided. He was going to search for food, already dead or still alive. He'd do his best if it was the later of the two. He flicked his ears and darted down the winding steps towards the banquet area praying some hunters had brought back a kill recently.

His little feet carried him quickly there and the huge grin on his face fell as he found the area to be empty. With a pout and a huff he decided to go forth on his own and catch him something. There wasn't anything wrong with that, right? He scampered from the security of home tree and into the surrounding flora. He realized a few moments after darting into the woods he had no idea what to do first! He was sure he could figure something out. Just then he thought he heard something and lowered to the ground, ears twitching widely as his eyes darted around looking for the owner of the sound.

Perhaps Pxan hadn't realized it, but he wasn't the only lion awake in the den. Or rather, he wasn't anymore. His earnest awakening had cause enough noise to awaken the senstive eared Tahni from his own slumber. Bleary eyed, he watched as his brother slunk from the den. His ears perked slightly in confusion, neither of their parents were awake yet. It wasn't time to leave the den! Was it even safe to leave?! He knew his pride was safe ... but he also knew his brother has a pension for being a bit more care free than was safe for their age. A pang of worry and guilt shot though the cub's vins and he clambered to his tired paws to follow his brother from the den.

He followed him through to the banquet area, was he looking for food? Didn't he look at the sky?! The hunting parties wouldn't return for hours! Which was obvious by the empty area round them. His first thought was that his brother would soon return to the den for sleep, and then Tahni could join him. Pxan would make on heck of a pillow ... his furry tufts were coming in faster than Tahni's and they were quite comfortable. Tahni smiled at the thought, but soon snapped out of it as he noticed his brother slipping off into the woods.

His veins ran cold with fear at the thought of slipping into those unknown boundaries. If the pride was safe, then the woods certainly were ... to an extent. Gupling down his fear, Tahni trudged in after his brother, no longer bothering to stifle his noise.

As his eyes darted around looking for the source hoping it wasn't some crazy animal coming to eat him he saw the glowing golden orbs before he saw the spotted face of his brother. He relaxed and let out the breath he had apparently been holding. "I didn't know you were awake." He said as he walked over to his brother rubbing up against him playfully. He noticed he looked half asleep still and wondered why he had gotten out of bed. "Why are you up? You look tired." He said with a small laugh as he stated the obvious. Pxan wasn't really much for sleeping in late. As one could see clearly right now.

He looked around and then heard his tummy grumble again. He was always hungry, which was quite a predicament for the young cub. "Want to help me find something to eat?" He said with a look of earnest in his eyes. He gave his brother the sweetest, poutiest look he could muster and then gave him a cheesy grin. Two minds had to be better than one for this situation. Especially since he didn't know the first thing about catching his own food yet. They were still used to the hunters bringing back some food and he didn't want to wait that long. What was a poor cub to do.

It wasn't long before his loud steps were found out and his brother came bounding over to him. With playful affection, he tried to smile at his brother but all that escaped his maw was a large yawn. "Was looking for you ... thought you were sleep walking ..." He managed between his large gasps of air and exhaustion. He would soon be fully awake, but for now he would remain half asleep.

The rumbling the echoed from his brother's stomach alerted the cub to his brother's plight and he half giggled. "Izzat why you're up? Food? Its not even breakfast time yet!" Before the cub could muster the energy to laugh his own stomach grumbled back in protest as if to prove him completely wrong.

"Only if you don't go into the woods anymore! I'm already scared being this far in. I bet there are a bunch of berries we could eat if we looked ... and maybe we could catch a frog or sumfing ..."

He hadn't been outside the pridelands for a long time. If anyone knew he had left his normal lounging spots; and his mate would have his head for being so foolish. Yet his old bones managed to hobble their way along the dirt path that was tunneled through the dense jungle. He had a few moments of difficulty when it came to several fallen logs. His back leg was still sore from the fall and hadn't been healing well despite the best care possible. He squinted his one good eye, the other was hidden under his half lidded fur. He could no longer see out of that eye and it pained him often but he never complained.

He was making his way back towards the pride and was going at a slow pace; when he could hear some speaking not far ahead. He couldn't see who it was; as the forest was too good at hiding everyone along the twisted trails. So he simply sat down where he was and listened.

They sounded young. Too young to be out on their own. He then cocked his head and made himself comfortable for when they finally came into view.

He couldn't help but giggle at his brothers sleepiness and he gave him a lopsided grin. He was always hungry and his brother should know this by now. He giggled as he listened to his brothers tummy started to grumble as well. "Sounds like you're hungry too."

He figured he could listen to his brothers logic on the last part. And then he nudged him with his paw with a grin, "Awww, you're scared?" He giggled and then started to look around. So... Which way was back home? "Frogs sound good but... How do we get back?" He hoped perhaps he might know.

Maybe this way? "This way?!" He said, not really sure and he bounded into the over growth and right into the waiting form of their grandpa and he let out an excited yelp and he backed up to see who it was he had bumped into. "Oh! Sorry grandpa."

"AM NOT!" Tahni protested groggily, both to his comment of being scared or hungry! Of course he was both, but he was a young cub being teased, he wasn't about to admit defeat now was he?

No. Especially not to his brother, he'd never hear the end of it if that became the case. The cub's mouth began to stretch into a yawn and he quickly tried to hide it with a connecting comment to his brother's information request, but it was too late. He was already long gone, bounding through the undergrowth. "Didn't I tell you not to do that?!" He called, whining after his brother as he slowly followed after him. Unfortunately his brother had gotten too far ahead for Tahni to hear the greetings to their Grandfather.

One could only imagine the young cub's surprise when he cleared the grass and found himself staring up at the great patriarch of their family.

"GRANDPA?!

WHAT ARE YOU DOING OUT HERE?!"

He yelped excitedly, forgetting all about his exhaustion and instead tackling his Grandfather's paw in glee.

Eytucan looked down at the two cubs; his half lidded blind eye shining as bright as his good eye. He observed the two children and couldn't help but recall his time as a child; bounding happily with his brothers and sist-... he stopped and a pained look cross his face for a brief moment; recalling his brother Kerusey... but now was not the time.

He looked down at them. "I think the question is... what are you two doing down here?" He asked, leaning down slowly; as his injured paw was still giving him some trouble. He decided now would be a good time to lay down at the same level as the children.

"I see you cubs... and wonder why you are out here without an adult..."

This will have to be backdated and pawsie no longer owns Tahni, I do so don't worry about quoting her if you reply.

He gulped a little bit as he listened to their grandfather ask why they were out here without adults. The answer was incredibly simple, but whenever did a cub make anything simple.

"W-I was looking for food and Tahni followed me." He said giving him as best a grin he could and then looked down at his stomach as it grumbled. "I was going to try and catch a frog." He said with a rather pathetic look on his face. He just wanted some nom noms for his little tummy.

"What are you doing out here Grandpa?" He was curious, they hadn't seen him in such a long time it seemed.
