Weapon of Choice/Desperate Actions Explained
Weapon of Choice:
1. The character's weapon of choice, otherwise known as their Soul, is their link to their own world. While these weapons can take any form within reason, they generally exist as the user's choice of a ranged weapon and melee weapon only. This weapon is only active when used by the original wielder.
2. The 'Soul' is a symbiotic weapon that never leaves the user's side. While they are counted as 'genderless' they have a very specific voice, way of acting, and attitude as far as the user is concerned. They are very much alive, and often serve as guides when the user has no other options left.
3. It's theoretically possible to break one of these weapons, as their durability is based on the condition of the one using them. However, as far as documentation says, this has never happened.
4. When the user's life is in danger, they experience emotional or physical stress, or they experience a heightened amount of resolve, their weapon will undergo a change to reflect that state. This allows them to use their 'ultimate' weapon.
5. The ultimate weapon can have any ability the user desires within reasonable bounds, but the weapon itself will drain the user to the point of unconsciousness if they continue to use it throughout a prolonged battle.
Desperate Action(s):
1. There comes a time when not even the roleplayer thinks they will get out of a difficult situation. At the height of despair or hopelessness for the character, they can enact their Desperate Action. This is a one time thing that can only be used sparingly because of the strain it puts on the body.
2. The ability of a Desperate Action can be anything, but they are often more powerful than the ultimate weapon. If not, the user is normally gifted with multiple multi-use Desperate Actions of a weaker variety than normal.
3. The strain of a Desperate Action will put the user out of commission until they gain medical attention. A Desperate Action has never been seen before, so nobody knows that it actually breaks a Soul to use such a sure-fire technique.
4. It's easy to see when a user will enact a Desperate Action, as electricity races along their bodies in a flashy show when they're desperate enough to use their skill at the height of its power. This further makes it impossible to use a "Desperate Stealth Attack" which should already be impossible, except when the situation
really demands one.
5. It's possible to get by without ever using an ultimate weapon or a Desperate Action. They are just there to add spice to the stories of those who find themselves stuck, but want to be useful.
