It was quiet.

Awfully quiet.

Not even the breathing from each sleeping figure could be heard, and if one of them had been awake, the thought of it would’ve been frightening. Not only because it was quiet, but the atmosphere itself was not that of a room filled with new life.

It was the complete opposite.

There was some sort of dark mist lurking around the nursery’s floor, under the beds, behind the furniture. Mist that slowly, quietly came together to create a figure made from nothing but shadows. It moved swiftly, rather slowly, and as it hovered over each sleeping figure, it also happened to blow candles as it passed by, the previously dim-lit room slowly surrendering itself to complete darkness.
A few curious eyes happened to open up once the room was pitch black, too frightened to actually move and protest. There was a dripping sound that seemed to last for an eternity, and the dripping sound alone was everything that could be heard across the nursery until the ground shook.

The unreachable ceiling disappeared, and so did the walls, slowly dissolving into dust. The beds were no longer beds, abruptly changing and deciding to grow branches. While most sprites were awake by now and managed to move away from their beds, there were a few that happened to be heavy sleepers and, by the time they opened their eyes, they were on top of the tallest of trees.

Trees that were later dripping crimson sap.

Some sprites moved left. Some others decided to move right. Some cried, some were brave enough to stand up and calm the others down. It hadn’t actually mattered until the forest became so dense between both directions that the groups were split over nothing but a simple decision consisting of whether they’d chosen to move left or whether they’d decided to jump right.

Akira had been one to move left. So it had been the case with Linnaeus and Edelweiss.

Sorrel, Fjorgyn, Tomiko and Altair, on the other hand, had moved right.

The little groups huddled together, questions and despair rising the more seconds passed—until it was all drowned out by realization. The dripping sound that had been haunting them before the nursery was turned into a forest had carried on, crimson droplets falling from tree leaves towards the ground, creating darkened pools.

And from those pools, it was as if a hand had dipped itself and then dragged out, creating words using fingertips and messed letters.

“Let us begin.”

PostPosted: Sun Nov 03, 2013 1:29 pm

It was cold; it was wet. The nursery had vanished in mere minutes it seemed. Altair's hands were already smeared with the crimson sap, and desperately, he tried to wipe it on his clothes. Oddly unafraid, Altair looked around. He was more vaguely disturbed than anything else; the strange ugliness of the forest appalling to his fine senses. His pale eyes swept warily over the sprites around him: the wolfling, the giant, the cat, the fox. Was this his fate to be trapped within a bleeding forest with people he did not even know? He sighed, thinking of the star-like girl he had only seen, yet never met. Altair had thought fate was working there as well, but...

"Well," he said, with a curving smile and confidence he wasn't sure he really felt. "How did we get into this?" His voice spilled out over the group, a honeyed sound reminiscent of lovers' stolen moments. And with a snap of his pale fingers, he conjured a small orb of blue light, illuminating the small group more thoroughly. Looking down, he prodded the ground with his staff, finding the dirt loamy and uneven: ordinary. "I think we shou-" His voice trailed off as je watched the red sap swirl and creep to form words. Let us begin.

Altair recoiled slightly, snapping the hem of his yukata off the ground. "W-what?!" His voice rose sharply on the word; clearly this place was very not natural. "Just what are we beginning?"

Tomiko had been awoken suddenly from her nice warm bed by feelings of cold and wet. Visions of her past lives woke her up as she felt as she was drowning. Much to her surprise, trees were sprouting up in the middle of the nursery. Only her catlike reflexes had saved her from getting trapped or smashed in her bed. She deftly jumped to the right and, as all cats do, landed on her feet. There was something dripping down from the trees...sap? No, sap wasn't a crimson red. How odd was this...how scary was this? Her ears flicked back and forth, gathering every sound. It seemed she wasn't the only one to escape. There were 4 others with her. One had conjured a ball of light that sparked her curiosity. Tomi wanted to figure out what it was so badly, but her curiosity did not overcome her fear.

She was crouched down, almost like a cat when the boy spoke. "I...I don't know. I...I just want out..." She said, her sing-song voice soft and scared. Approaching the boy, she almost got right next to him when the dripping sap like stuff started congealing into words! Tomiko, like the fraidy cat she is, crouched down behind the boy. "Wha-what is that? I...I'm scared.." She confided in the boy she didn't know. Her right hand reached out and gently touched the boy's clothing while the other held onto her tail. Her eyes were big and she looked on the verge of crying, though she wouldn't let herself.

Sleep had always been a favorite activity to Hajna, tiny legs and big ears twitched into the dense nest of pillows, blankets and the fur of his tail. He nested, he was a nester. The sprite enjoyed the warmth of an inviting bed and this bed in particular. He had spent nights trying to turn a uniform dorm like structure to fit his slumber needs to a T. After days of effort, collecting and restlessness he'd gotten the comforters and snivel gear into the perfect disposition. His bed was never made, and the pillows always ended up towards the center of the mattress. It was in a permanent state of burrow and nest and no one was allowed to touch it. No one.

The aurora had a penchant for being a deep sleeper, protected from the cold world by the comfort of his burrowed bed while swaddled in his own tail. This night was no exception. Hajna was dead to the world. Everything was soft, everything was comfortable. Nothing could wake him. Nothing, that is until he felt it. A shift in the delicate balance that was his bed. He roused at the initial jerk, pillows and blankets spilling onto the floor like a waterfall of bedding. The second jerk had him annoyed and he attempted to roll over, only to feel that the perfect leveled balance of his bed had now shifted to a jarring angle. Not. Okay.

He lurched from his sleep, brow furrowed in a very uncharacteristic scowl before he saw the branches reaching up. He had to act quick! Bolting from his position with a yelp the sprite skidded from the shattering safety of his bed to the floor, tumbling unceremoniously from shoulder to belly to tail. His claws scraped on the floor and he booked it. The most comforting thing in the room so happened to be the ball of light conjured by the star and he sprinted straight into the other sprites legs, bowling into Altair like he was safety during a game of capture the flag. He tumbled then, once again tumbling with as much grace as a mentally challenged pigeon and curled into a tiny ball, face and body curled into his tail in fear as he realized he might have 'done a bad'.

"Don't." He mewled as he cowered into his tail, voice muffled by his fur, "Eat. Me."

The scent hit him first. He hadn't been asleep so much as resting, trying to politely wind down so as not to keep up the other sprites with his nocturnal nature despite being restless and wanting to run through the wilderness. For a moment he actually wondered if that desire triggered the woodland scent but then it became so much more, completely enveloping everything around him. Soft, damp earth, rigid branches overtaking everything, and the ceiling disappeared. Even if the circumstances were ominous and the red leaking sap foreboding it practically welcomed Sorrel with open arms.

The werewolf sprite leaped from his bedding before branches broke through its center and stabbed him. His decent wasn't as clumsy as the aurora's, far from it, but near the end the pads of his puppy feet did slip in some of the goop and he landed on the leaf covered ground with a dull thump on his rear. Not appearing bothered, he stood up and dusted his rump before seeking out the curious orb of light as well. He smelled the cat among them, the foxfire pup, and the other creatures of their kind the strongest. Sorrel looked them all over, brows upturning sympathetically at Tomiko's confession of fear but quirking with clear amusement at Hajna's pathetic display.

He nearly had a response ready for Tomiko before the sap along the ground changed and formed words, spooking everyone further. Sorrel leaned away, staring, but eventually a curious smile quirked. "This is freedom." His attention moved from the words up to the starry sky above them as a more intent grin overtook his features but it soon returned to the others, expression softening. "Let's not worry just yet, ah? This could be fun."

Fjorgyn was always carefully attuned to her environment, a necessity she'd already grown into given the limitations of her size. Her relatively bulky shape compared to other sprites meant that every space, every nook, every cranny, was a precious commodity. So, when things started shifting, Fjorgyn had been one of the first to wake up. Not fully -- as she watched, still half-asleep, the shadows swirling in an unsettlingly lively manner, the major portion of her mind simply thought, How pretty!

But then the dripping began, and the darkened surroundings began to dissolve, and that was ominous enough to spook her into alarmed awareness. She gasped in shock, the forlorn sound swallowed amongst the steadily growing noise of drip drip drip drip drip drip drip drip

The trees were shooting rapidly upward, but in their earliest stages they were not too much taller than Fjorgyn. She was able to step down with ease, taking care not to step on any of the sprites below. They were an odd assortment -- a handsome boy with starlit eyes, a cat, a fox, a wolf. Her gaze slid over the variety of fluffy ears in the present company, and she stifled the impulse to reach down and feel their softness. Briefly, she wondered if she could talk to them the same way she talked with Ostara, the rabbit.

The boy with starry eyes snapped his fingers, and the little clearing was suddenly filled with illumination. The words forming in red were thrown into sharp clarity. Fjorgyn gasped again, a loud inhalation reminiscent of a brief wind tunnel. She clapped her hand over her mouth immediately, embarrassed. The cat and the fox seemed scared enough without her adding to the atmosphere. Slowly, gently, she sat down on her heels and reached out a comforting hand to pat the fox sprite on the back. He seemed like he needed it ever so slightly more than did the cat girl.

"Fjorgyn," she whispered, putting one hand to her chest. She gestured to each of the other four. "Who are you?" So far, nothing seemed to be happening despite the urgent nature of the message on the ground, so they might as well take the time to learn more about what was going on.... after all, who knew if they would have the time later to do so.

A flurry of things seemed to happen just as the words left his lips. He had reached a cool hand down to rest on Tomiko's head gently; the orb of light lowered a little as well, as if it was trying to comfort the scared kitten too. He only had time for a few short pats before the fox spooked and careened straight into him. With a grunt, Altair tottered to the left, to the right, and fell over, barely missing the pale cat.

Altair's light dimmed when he felt, almost going out entirely. As he regained his bearing, it grew steady once more, pouring light over the slightly chaotic group. He turned his starlit gaze to the cat. "Are you alright, kitten?" And, after the giantess spoke, he finally hauled himself upright. Reaching down, he held one pale hand out towards Tomiko and looked towards the quivering mess of fur that was Hajna. "I'm not going to eat you, foxling. Come, get up." He kept his voice gentle and low, trying to inject a galaxy full of reassurance into the words.

"I'm Altair." He turned towards the wolf. "Freedom is not being trapped in a forest I believe. And I do think we are trapped. Whether this is fate or not, we shall see. Does anyone have ideas on what we should do? This forest feels strange, like it does not belong. I cannot see the stars here..." His honeyed voice grew dreamy, distant. He stared upwards, past the trees, into a sky that was not real.
PostPosted: Mon Nov 04, 2013 6:02 pm

How much could happen in a few seconds? With the arrival of the forest came so much activity. The boy started to pet her almost causing her to start purring. The ball of light came closer to her too making her have to resist wanting to bat at it. But then something came rolling at them. Thinking it was something evil like the forest, she jumped back in astonishment. One said something about this being freedom, and another girl introduced herself as Fjorgyn and she was so tall!

There was something comforting about everyone she was with, she felt like she was safe, even though Tomi knew that was not likely. The one that spoke of freedom smelled weird..like...a dog. And the furry thing that came out them was a wolf! Quite the group she had with her, she thought momentarily. Taking Altair's hand even though she had moved somewhat away when he fell, she gripped it tightly. "I'm Tomiko." She introduced herself to Altair and Fjorgn and the others. "Where did the nursery go? How are we supposed to get out of here?" Of course her cat like eyes allowed her to see fairly well in the dark, that didn't mean she felt comfortable. She moved the slightest bit closer to Altair desiring that physical contact and also avoiding a dripping red sap droplet.

There was a fair amount of commotion beyond the white fur that kept him safe. Sleep clung to his mind in a death grip, the fog finally leaving as the flight or flight [decidedly stuck in flight] reflex left his system. He became aware of just how foolish his actions could be taken. Not that he particularly cared at the moment. Sleep was a precious experience to the firefox, and it was being interrupted. He stopped shaking first, tail falling limp on his body and no longer fluffing to fill double it's normal volume. Then he felt the long fingers of the giantess patting him in a comforting manner.

Awe... These people were nice. Obviously friends. He slowly flopped onto his back, pushing his tail to the side of his face and giving a small smile up at her gigantic figure. He peered like it was a coy but cute game of peek-a-boo, a small wave and a twitch of an ear. Trying for all his might to portray a 'sorry, I'm really kinda okay right now, don't worry,' with his expression. Then he saw the trees. Reaching to the ceilings. Beds broken on impact and shards of polished wood littering the roots of the newly grown forest.

His bed was gone.

Hajna paled, eyes wide and dead as he stared at the ceiling. All of his work. All of his conditioning for the pillows, blankets. He had pilfered just enough to get it all right. And it was gone. His tiny little soul was crippled in that moment. He was numb at first, slowly sitting up, eyes glazed as he looked at his companions. Then came a searing passion, these trees could have peacefully entered the nursery, minded their own business, aided in the oxygenation of the room and that would be very okay of them. They could have, Hajna thought as the irrational sense that these trees were literally sentient started to come to light in his mind, but they didn't. He approached the nearest root base, cautiously reaching out and scraping his nails on it in a test before skittering back behind the waist of the Giant. He peered out once more and watched the trees reaction. Nothing.

And worse, no perfectly formulated pulverized mattress, fluffed pillows or perfectly positioned pillows fell from the sky either. Revenge was a sweet dish, evil bed ruining trees, and all of the sweeter if cooked over the glowing remains of your bark and xylem. It was on.

Hajna set a determined face and squinted at the trees and then back at his group. The normally carefree and cheery sprite had a motivated look of a man on a mission plastered on his round face. He licked his lips and then addressed the group at large.

"We should take our nursery back," He said, pursing his lips as he stood next to, nearly touching, Fjorgyn. It was at that moment he realized people were actually being polite.

The foxling's face glowed a windburned blush and his eyes widened as he looked around, voice faltering as he sidled onto Fjorgyn's foot. Social queues were always hard for him. He thrusted a hand out and waved it his companions.

"Hi! I'm a Hajna... Unm," He looked up at Fjorgyn and tilted his head, deftly pointing up at her, noting the green hair and overall the size of her.

"Pea." He spoke slowly, squinting then looking to Tomiko, Altair and Sorrel- outwardly labeling them "Tom-cat, Glowbug an' Toothyface."

Introductions were set, in his mind that is, now the mission at hand took priority.
PostPosted: Tue Nov 05, 2013 8:36 am

The werewolf sprite watched the short exchanges before he was addressed, tucking their names away carefully with a nod. Altair had a level head but he didn't quite understand what Sorrel meant; that was fine, they were all tired, he sympathized, but this was the time of day he thrived and he was wide awake, primed, raring to go. "Being trapped is not freedom, yes," he addressed coolly, "I mean to say this is freedom from the mundane. Freedom from a bland existence in a nursery." This was adventure. The forest certainly did not belong, it was far from natural and its magicks were ominous, certainly feeling closer to a nightmare variety than anything in dreams. Even the earthy scent around them smelled of phantasms but the most drawing was the crimson sap.

He smiled sympathetically to Tomiko, the poor dear was a 'fraidy cat for sure. Kitten was indeed a suitable name for her, considering her demeanor, so that was what he would stick with. "It'll be fine, kitten. Just stay with his light, mm?" he lifted his chin toward Altair's light ball before turning his attention onto Hajna. The names he rattled off were... puny. Embarrassing. Incorrect. Well, save for his own, but it was still entirely underwhelming. "Sweet Pea if any, I should think," he smiled boldly to Fjorgyn, then narrowed his eyes at Hajna with a wry grin, "And a tom cat is a boy. Our little kitten here is far from that." He raised a hand to his chest and gave a short dip of his head, tail wagging slowly behind him, "I'm Sorrel. If we stick together we'll get out of this," he lowered his voice with a pleasant smirk, "and maybe have a little fun while doing so." Keeping the tense atmosphere would not only be boring for him but it would make everyone else uneasy for the duration of these events and when folk became uneasy they were prone to outbursts, not thinking clearly. Whether this all was dangerous or not they needed to keep level heads. Either way, he had no doubts of their success, not yet when whatever this was hadn't yet "begun".

Introductions went around without the sky falling or the earth shattering, though Fjorgyn blushed vividly when Sorrel called her a sweet pea. The only other sprite she'd met beyond these four was Erm, and he hadn't exactly been the smoothest of charmers.

Everybody was doing a lot of talking, but Fjorgyn preferred to listen. Sorrel definitely seemed to be more on the glass-half-full side of things, in comparison to poor Hajna and Tomiko. She hoped that wouldn't cause any trouble later; they needed to stick together if they were going to get out of this safely. At Altair's comment about the sky, Fjorgyn looked up herself to see if it was true. Sure enough, the view above was a dark tangle of twisted, red-stained branches. Or maybe the sky itself had turned red, and they could no longer tell the difference. Or -- and Fjorgyn knew she was taking speculation a little too far, but her stomach fluttered anyway -- maybe there was no sky at all. Maybe whatever took the nursery away, took away the rest of the world too.

There was a patch of black amidst all the red. Initially, Fjorgyn assumed it to be a part of tree not covered in the strange crimson sap (she didn't quite want to think the word blood out loud). As she looked closer, however, she began to make out the hint of a feather, an eye, a beak... it was a bird. A corvid of some kind, raven or crow too hard to distinguish in this darkness.

Fjorgyn stood, slowly so as not to alarm the others. The bird was still too far away for her to reach, so she cleared her throat and whistled a few times to catch its attention. It flew to her outstretched, glove-covered hand. Hello, she said, and waited. There was no response other than the bird tilting its head and omitting a scraggly "caw!" Frowning, Fjorgyn continued. My name is Fjorgyn. My friends and I -- my, um, flock -- we're lost. Do you think you can help us?

Help, echoed the bird. Fjorgyn noted a strange red glow in its eyes and an unattractive dullness to its feathers. This was most certainly not a normal bird.

Do you know the way out of these woods? Fjorgyn tried again.

Out, said the bird, and -- somewhat unsteadily -- launched itself from Fjorgyn's hand into the air. It flew off, quickly disappearing into the trees off to the right. Fjorgyn looked around at the other sprites, shrugging self-consciously. She was unsure how wise it would be to follow the lead of a bird with glowing red eyes...

Her hand trembled as it slid into his. "Don't be frightened, Tomiko... kitten," he whispered into one twitching ear. "We'll get you out of here." Altair squeezed her hand slightly. With her light hair and chromatic eyes, the cat reminded Altair vaguely of paintings he had seen of stars. She was adorable, and he had a soft spot for such things. Turning back to the group, he watched curiously as a myriad of emotions squirmed across Hajna's now pale face. His fur was bushy and fluffy. Oh, alright, Hajna was cute too. Altair snorted a bit at the nicknames, quirking one brow. Glowbug wasn't awful, he supposed. At least it wasn't dwarf star.

His amused smile faded as the werewolf spoke. Clearly, this sprite didn't realize the importance of the nursery and the protection it gave. He probably ignored all sorts of rules without thought. The smirk in his voice at the end made Altair grind his teeth. "While I can appreciate fun, I'm not sure there is fun.... here."[ Fun was for stargazing, for lover's walks, for games, not for being lost in a blood-soaked forest. He still curved his lips upward at Sorrel. When he spoke, his voice was clear as starlight and smooth as the night wind. "But you're right. We should stick together."

A flicker of motion caught his eye. The bird Fjorgyn had found was disturbing, to say the least. With a glazed look in its red eye, it flew off towards the right. As he looked, the trees there seemed to thin, beckoning. Suddenly, the ground rumbled and shook and groaned with a hundred indistinct voices. Altair stumbled a little, feeling the red sap seep up between his toes. He swallowed hard. "I'm not sure we should trust a bird, but we should definitely move.".

The little fox was adorable as he came up with his own little nicknames for everyone. Though, she was about to correct him about a tom-cat being a boy when Sorrel the werewolf corrected him for her along with some endearing compliments. It seemed they would take to calling her kitten, which of course she didn't mind. Releasing her tail, she held her left hand out to Sorrel, Tomiko would feel much better having the two sprites by her. Altair whispered in her ear and it kind of tickled but she resisted the smile that wanted to play on her lips. The words of comfort from everyone were doing their job as she felt more comforted.

But things would get worse. The giant girl, Fjorgyn started talking to a bird! She had to suppress her inner instincts of chasing the bird and that was when she got a good look at it. It was unhealthy looking and had red glowing eyes. No, that bird would not make good dinner. The exchange between giant and bird was strange, and it was over just about as quickly as it had started. Tomiko looked around just as the floor started to shake calling for even more alarm. "I think we should move...but...I also think if we play games it won't be as scary." She said, looking at each other in turn as she tried to find a middle ground for these two obvious leaders.
PostPosted: Wed Nov 06, 2013 1:02 pm

The foxling wasn't really having any of Sorrel's rationality. His nicknames were special and chosen on a whim. As they should be. Carefree and gentle. He smiled and hoped that snow would start falling upon the forest. He bundled up, rubbing his entire body against his clothing, the heat he generated created a lovely feeling down his spine. A chill had taken to the air as branches clawed forward towards the walls and ceilings. He glanced up hoping the frost on his nose was a precursor to tiny flakes falling. Eyes wide, lips slight parted in wonder please let a crystal or two fall-

Something wet dripped right between his eyes causing the aurora to sputter and wipe at his face. No no no no NO it was too sticky, to wet! He looked at his hands now discolored to red and his entire body slackened in disdain. Nope. No longer happy. Hajna gave a suffering look to Sorrel and pouted.

"It's androgynous by my standpoint," He said, the large words were wrong coming out of his once juvenile and carefree mouth, "Tom cat is short for Tomiko - cat. Is Tomiko as tough as a boy cat?"

Hajna's eyes widened once more glancing over at Tomiko. Maybe she didn't care for the name. He furrowed his brow in worry but said nothing as he contemplated ignoring the discomfort. She'd get used to it.

He bounced from foot to foot, hands still held in front of his face with the red sap smeared all over them. There was too much conversation and not enough movement. They needed to go, go and explore, go and find where the destroyed beds went to. Energy took to the sprite and himself conjured a small flame of borealis between his palms. Not nearly as concentrated as Altair's light as it seemed to be always moving, always changing in color. He smiled and threw the light ahead of the group and watched it dissipate. The bird! He looked to Fjorgyn, eyes wide and watched the path the giant bird took- throwing another ball of light towards the flying animal

"This way! This Way, Bird went this way! Tom-cat, Sweet Pea!" Thus far, the only two people to show him compassion and thus the only two people he felt the need to address- honestly a bit of an upturned nose of Altair's initial motion towards group order. Hajna bounded forward, chasing his light with glee as he sprinted, tail bounding off the breaking stonework of the nursery floor. Every other bound his tail sent a tiny dwindling aurora to the sky- and indication on where the fox was. He reached a giant crevasse in the floor, it seemed to be crumbling and growing as the forest grew around them. He peered down into the pitch dark, squinting as he tried to light the passage up. His borealis was little more than a match stick against the oppressing darkness. He needed help.

Then it struck him, Glowbug. He grinned and began a bound back, circling Fjorgyn once in a playful manner, sending cool blues, greens and purples reflecting off the group before scrambling up behind Altair, climbing effortlessly onto his back and clinging to the star as if to receive a piggy back.

"Glowbug and Hajna make an awesome pretty light team," He panted into the boy's neck. Out of breath and tired from his haphazard sprint. The foxling clung harder and relaxed his chin on Altair's shoulder. "We shoul' lead th'way and light up the dark dark thing. And toothyface can eat anything that attacks us."

Hajna looked back at Sorrel with a knowing expression.

Sorrel's eyes lit up at the blush in Fjorgyn's gentle cheeks and he gave her a smile of tender excitement while moving in closer to their small group. Her reaction lessened the impact of Altair's nay saying, the werewolf offering him only a passing glance. Their kitten's offer of her hand brightened him and he took it gratefully, small fingers offering hers a gentle and reassuring squeeze.

The bird caused his smile to falter. Eyes suddenly narrowed, he scrutinized the bird and its filthy complexion, none of them able to hear the words that the giantess could from its black beak, and then suddenly it was off. It didn't smell right. The thing's bent and dulled feathers held an earthy scent much like the rest of the forest surrounding them now but there was something else beneath it that was masked and only when it flew away did he realized what; it was rotten.

"Yes..." Sorrel responded to Tomiko's suggestion more despondently than he'd intended. Double taking, he looked to her and righted his smile, tail giving a slow wag behind him, "Games sound like a great idea. We'll all stay together, keep each other safe, and the games will keep us calm." Or, rather, the games would keep Tomiko and Hajna calm since himself, Altair, and Fjorgyn seemed fairly level at the moment.

The dream wolf pursed his lips at Hajna's dismissal of not using the name Tom-cat, his logic on the matter, and subsequent erratic movements. He watched him circle their sweet pea, issuing forth color and light, and then he clicked his tongue as the small fox child climbed up Altair's back. Not that he would wish such a rambunctious event on anyone, he felt Altair deserved that one for being such a stick in the mud. At suddenly being addressed, Sorrel's ears perked and he locked eyes with Hajna when he turned. Initially he seemed blank on the suggestion but then the words settled; if the fox was suggesting he could eat anything that attacked them that meant he was perceived as strong, someone their group could rely on. His tail gained a slight boost in its wag and his lips curled to reveal a toothy smile -- not quite as toothy as Hajna seemed to think, mind, but certain ones were most assuredly sharper than average or shaped differently.

"That I can," he laughed, turning back to Fjorgyn. After a moment's consideration and a lingering smile, he reached out his free hand to see if she was interested in holding on like their kitten was. The offer seemed important regardless, since she was now the only one in their group unconnected by some form of contact and it would have been rude but Sorrel also saw no merit in not offering on a personal level when she was so adorable and he already had a cute kitten on one arm; he may as well surround himself with their good, adorable vibes. "What sort of games shall we play? Riddles? Guessing games? I Spy?" he was honestly up for anything since he knew any enjoyment they derived from being in this place would stick in the light bringer's craw.
