A stange energy emits fromthis path. It spans one mile long, and the only way to the ruins is by a narrow passage between the mountains.

Rowan arrived much later inthe far distance of the path, speedwalking with a royal scholar following behind. He struggled to catch up with her, clearly not used to being outside his secure study room. Rowan stopped before Frederick near the front of the mountain. "Sorry I took so long, but I found the scholar." she said, gesturing towards him.

The scholar bodded and fumbled with the many scrolls in his back before rushing over to the stone, adjusting his broken glasses. Rowan stood by him and looked around, keeping a cautious eye for anyone that might be watching. Strange sounds emited from within the cave, echoing in the darkness. The scholar stood once he got it down and walked over to Frederick. He was nerved by his appearence and stood a nervous distance. "It appears to be a warning, sir. It says the caves are filled with traps, and unspeakables... But there should be clues to evade them inside. In dwarven. The rules also spoke about a hidden darkness within it... are you sure you want to go in?" he asked.

The scholar sighed and looked inside the case, feeling a cold sweat. He wasn't meant for this. The scholar followed closely behind. Rowan took one last look back before also walking inside the darkness. As they moved further from the entrance, she could see less and less. "Should I use my staff to create a light?" she asked quietly.

Rowan felt her way around the wall over to the place he directed. Using her staff, she create a cery faint light over the text. The scholar saw it and turned towards the direction, bending over to examine it. He nodded to himself. "There's a nasty trap up ahead. But there should be a secret passageway that leads around it somewhere in the walls." he said, feeling around the walls. Rowan dismissed the light and tapped the wall too, looking for any small breeze that would indicate a gap. She found one and pushed on a stone, the wall soundlessly swung open. Rowan stumbled inside. "This way." she whispered.

The path behind them was sealed off silently. This path was incredibly narrow, and stuffy. But the odd noise coming from within the tunnels grew steadily louder. They stumbled out onto a second, much wider tunnel. Stones decorated the walls but were unseen to Rowan and the scholar. There were many twists and turns up ahead, as well as a couple of forks.

"I-I need to see first..." he said. He had difficulty seeig in normal light with his glasses as it was. Rowan sensed Frederick move then turned towards the opposite direction, gripping her staff. She couldn't see a darn thing. "Huh? What's happening?" asked the scholar when he was greeted by silence.

the scolar cowered at the sound of conflict. Rowan was confused with the fight, but gladly raised her staff. "Light" she said. A sphere of delicate light would emit from the staff as illumination. It was a holy spell, so it should be enough to keep anything evil away. Rowan looked down at the scholar, who stood and dusted himself off. "Right, the signs..." he walked over to the wall and began searching for any sign that would tell them which way to go.
