Amariel was now separated from her herd and lost. Everyone got spooked when a Kalona jumped to harass them. The herd was scattered and Amariel lost track of the group. She jumped and bounded into the thicker trees with the intention of loosing the Kalona, instead she got lost herself. She had tried calling out to the other Goldenleaf's but with no reply. It wasn't long before she stumbled into parts of the forest she did not recognize, she couldn't remember if she had ever traveled this far into it.

The branches overhead were thick and woven together. Amariel was unsure of the time of day, there was very little light and she could not see the position of the sun. She felt uneasy and a bit frightened. She wasn't strong enough to carry a lantern and so dark places like this frighted her. It was places like this that Lunaris's presence was supposed to be stronger and that worried Amariel.

The forest around her seemed to darken, she stopped to listen. She heard a branch snap close behind her and she jumped. Amariel bolted through the winding, twisting knots of the trees, she barely missed some of them and scraped her side on one of the solid oaks. Her running slowed to a stop, her heart pumped full of adrenaline she was breathing heavily. She looked around and flicked her ears to listen for any movement. She heard nothing and felt slightly save again, at least for now.
