Toki lay under a large tree. The same tree he usually lay under when these kinda nights happened. What kinda night was it? Well, family night. Though Toki's, and his sweetheart Elune's, children were now grown it was always nice to see them. So a date was set, where everyone would gather and catch up. Whether they liked it or not. I mean Toki loved his kids, but sometimes these nights would draw out for longer then he wanted. He wasn't much for talking, and if he was it would be with Elune. Not that his children were boring or anything... Sometimes the topic of conversation just wasn't an interest of his. Short attention span, one might say.

Toki stretched his wings, letting them sparkle in the moon light. "Everyone should be here soon."

He looked around, taking in the silence while it lasted. Until he realized Elune had been gone for longer then he thought she would. She had said she had "something to do". What? He had no idea, she gave no details. Maybe she was thirsty, maybe hungry. But if she didn't come around soon, he might have to go looking for her.

And with the sound of a twig snapping, he called out. "Elune?"

Nana made her way through the same old woods she grew up in. Everything always seemed the same when she came around here. She liked to think that she knew this place like the back of her hooves. She had gotten lost in here plenty of times as a little filly, but that just helped her figure the place out. What also helped was how the forest sung back to here when she hummed her little tunes.

Like any traveling Nana would do, she hummed all the way there. Making up little melodies that would evoke her mood. Today she was all smiles, very excited to see her family. Nana lacked in the friends department, so it was nice when her family got together. Even if the conversation was lacking, she just loved the presence of everyone. As she became closer to her family her humming stopped and her speed escalated.

Hearing the faint voice of an older stallion she jumped out of the bushes, "DADDY!" she yelled.

"Pick up the pace, old man." she teased. Lyric bumped against her father playfully, giving him a devilish smirk of delight. The two had flown here together. One can only fly so close to the forests heart, before you must walk. There wasn't really anywhere to land once the trees got dense and thick. This part of the forest was unique. The vegetation wasn't thick and overgrown, and the walk was always a pleasant one.

Ziggy snapped at his daughter. "You watch your tongue young lady." he then winked at her. The two were always playful together. They were father and daughter, but they were also best friends. Once, they even went on a double date together. Most would find that quite weird! Ziggy did wish that his daughter would find true love though, and not be a total flirt like himself.

The two drew closer to the tree where they would meet with the rest of their family. Ziggy missed them all. Even if the conversations did grow dull, he and Lyric would entertain themselves.

Hearing a familiar voice, Mystic Lyric pushed past her father and frolicked up to Nana. "Aunt Na!" She kissed the beautiful sister of her father on the cheek. "You are looking radiant, as always." she smiled. Looking over to Toki, she got a huge grin on her face, so hard her cheeks almost turned red. "Hi Grandpa." She gave a cheesy grin, bearing her pearly white teeth. Why was it always so amusing for the youth to tease parents and grandparents? At least it was for her. No respect. She enjoyed trying to get a rise out of them. It didn't phase Ziggy. She imagines once he's a grandpa too, and has a grand-kid call him as much, that will all change. She looked forward to the day, and to see the look on her pops face.

Ziggy casually followed after Mystic. "Evening Father, evening Sis." He wrapped a wing around Nana, giving her a hug. He then popped Mystic Lyric in the butt with the tip of his wing. "Stop teasing people. That should come later in the night." He wrinkled his lips and raised a brow as his daughter stuck a tongue out at him. He would get her back.

"Hey...where's Mom?" he looked quizzically around.

Elune let her mind be enveloped with it's deep thoughts. In the days prior, she had been feeling unlike herself. At one point, she thought she might be expected more children, but well, she never started showing. Every now and again, she thought she could feel something different in herself even still. The cravings weren't the same as when she had been pregnant before, but there was still a hint of them there. For the most part, she had wrote it off as part of pushing into an elder form of her life. Not that she considered herself old or anything, but life had a way of continuing to affect ones mind and body as time passed by.

Elune had traveled to a local, in order to see if there was any herbal remedies she might acquire to help smooth things out a bit. It wasn't far away, and she had expected to be back in no time. Otherwise she would of told Toki more. No need to worry him. What she hadn't expected, was to be wrong. SO wrong. On her way, she started to feel labor pains. It terrified her, because if she was expecting, then the foals had not grown to full size. She should of been showing, and things should of been more noticeable! In all her life, fear had never been something she knew much of. She feared more, because Toki wasn't there with her. Kawani had many helpful souls, and one came along to be with her. It was an aged humanoid. The two legger had helped to calm Elune, and birth her child. With nurturing eyes, it assured her that all was well. Normally, baskets are woven then painted to look like the foal inside. By the spirits, this human had one ready to go! It shocked Elune that there was only one? And well....it was tiny. She had caught a brief glimpse of the foal. It was no bigger than a human pup. There were no still birth foals either. None of it made sense to her. What's more, the labor was nothing like the first. It was quick, painless, and she didn't need a rest.

Now, she was heading back to Toki, with a two-legger in tow. The spirited woman was carrying the tiny basket. Elune didn't try to take it from her, but rather kept looking back at it with concern. None of it made any sense. Elune trusted the spirits, but her maternal instincts couldn't help but worry about the health of the tiny one inside it's small basket.

The wise old woman began to hum a tune that was deep and rich. It relaxed Elune somehow. Music had that affect on her. She led the way to her hollow, still so deep in thought. She would be a little late tonight.

Toki almost jumped with the sound of this daughters scream. The forest had been so nice and quiet until she disturbed it. He tried to let out a smile. He did his best with his mind wondering about his dear one. Watching his bright eyed girl trot over to him with so much excitement, it actually made him feel somewhat better. Nana nuzzled him as he stay lying in place, and of course he returned the affection.
"Hello dear. No need to yell, it's only us here." He gave her a genuine smile.

Nana loved her parents very much. And since she didn't have children like her brother, or any friends she actually tried to visit as often as she could. But these visits were always the best. She got to see everyone who could possibly make it to the reunion. Not only that, be she could be herself. Rather then her shy distant self that she was around strangers.
Trotting over to her father she lowered her head and nuzzled him with much affection. Nana couldn't express how much she loved her family. And before she could address her father she was interrupted. Her brother a niece had arrived! Adoring her nieces kind words and affection she returned them.
Kissing her niece on the cheek in return, she smiled.
"And your quite as spunky and beautiful as usual." As she finished her words, her brother wrapped his wings around her. To return the affection she nuzzled his cheek for a moment. <3

Toki hoped for a little more piece and quiet, but he had no such luck. As soon as one came, so did another. His soon and granddaughter arrived before Nana could even speak another word. He watched his family as they all showed their welcoming affections. It kept the smile on Toki's face. Well, that is until Mystic acknowledged him.
He just rolled his eyes at her, and the chuckling Nana let out. "Hello Mys."
She hadn't said anything wrong, it was just the way she said it and the faces she was making. Sometime Toki didn't understand how his children became the way they were with how reserved and quiet he and Elune were. But then he would think about his past, and usually the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
"Hello son." He muttered.

It had only been a moment before Ziggy had mentioned his mother. Toki quickly jumped up. With all this commotion he had almost forgotten. ALMOST. "I don't know, she hasn't returned and I'm getting worried."

The layout of the forest was known well to the Nightelf. Not only was she raised here, but she lived in this forest. Lived in a way that kept her in touch with all her surroundings. If the forest exhaled, she heard it. Elune lead the way to her and Toki's hollow, with eyes that could of been shut. Even though she could see, everything was a white blur. How she managed to actually get there without running into a tree, she did not now. Next thing she new, she could see her home up ahead, and she didn't remember the journey coming to an end. Yet no branch had suffered a snap under her hoof. Had the old ladies music that she was humming, soothed her to the point of near sleep walking? She shook it off, realizing that the human had stopped her music. She still followed Elune, but seemed to be growing tired.

Elune didn't stop. She stepped into the warm alcove where her family was. Greetings were not given to her two children, or granddaughter as she walked past them. She went to Toki, still not saying hi, and stood beside him. Her gaze was focused back in the direction from which she came. It was as if she was waiting for a predator to step through, that had been in hot pursuit.

She could barely hear anything any of them said. She just stood there in a daze.

The old lady emerged from the trees with a soft rustle of leaves on the forest floor beneath her. She did not have the quiet delicate step of the flutter soquili in which she carefully followed. Thank the spirits that had guided her to aid in this miracle birth.

It seemed as if the whole world revolved around the one object in which she was carrying, as she walked to the center of the circle of soquili. Gently, she placed the mini woven basket onto the ground between them, laying next to a great root that raised like an arm built to cup the basket.

Walking over to Elune and Toki, she muttered something in her native tongue. Her voice sounded like old wood and smoke, but weighed with ancient wisdoms. Her words were words filled with reasurance and joy, for the young life these two had been blessed with.

Toki was definitely about to go and look for Elune. He could feel something wasn't right. Not that his other half was in danger, but that something might've happened. Ready to storm the area, he was about to tell everyone he would go look for her. But before he could open his mouth, he heard something. With the sound of rustling leaves Toki muttered, "Elune?"...
Only seconds later did she emerge to the clearing. Toki was happy to see her back, but he was still worried. There was something off about her. She didn't seem herself, she didn't even greet her family after arriving. He took one step as she watched her walk over to him.
"Elune, are you alright dear?" He asked, but got no response. She just stood there and stared in the direction she came from. Focusing on Elune since her arrival, Toki looked back over. Realizing that there was another. A two legger, holding a small woven basket. His eyes widened, much confused. That basket seemed to small to be a Soq that would grow to their size. But the colors resembled them so. He didn't know what to say or do... What had happened?

Nana had just watched the whole situation unravel. She too could tell there was something off about her mother. She just didn't know what. Watching the human carry a basket to the middle of the group, Nana actually smiled. She noticed it seemed a bit small, but the colors could only mean one thing...
"Is that what I think it is?" Nana spoke out loud.

"Where did you steal the Usdia basket Mom?" Ziggy spared no subtitles. To him, he thought it a clever joke. "Ouch!" It would seem that his daughter did not find the joke funny. He pushed his lips out, and gave her a half meaningful scowl. He didn't mean no harm, but now he felt bad. Mystic made him realize instantly, that the joke was misplaced. He decided to stay quiet till he had something better to say. He had no idea that the basket was actually family.

Lyric watched on with wide crystal blue eyes, that were fixed on the basket as it moved into the center of everything going on. Those eyes did not come off the basket, even as the two-legger moved on. The dazed stare was broken, when she heard the worst words possible come from her fathers mouth. Raising her leg, she swiftly kicked him in the thigh. It likely hurt more than she had intended it too, but she only regretted that part a little. It was obvious her grandmother was feeling sensitive on the subject, and Ziggy could of noticed as much.

She followed what her Aunt had been thinking. The colors were just like their parents, and why else would her mother be followed by the basket? It could of been adopted, but somehow, she didn't think Elune would have this reaction, if that was the case. She had to hold back her own remark, though she wanted to comment about her grandparents still being able to 'do the deed'. She left it be, and instead responded to Nana with a big grin. "I think it is." she said nothing of the size of the basket, but showed warm enthusiasm. Leave it to the girls of the family, to put two and two together.

Elune, still in shock, leaned into Toki for support. Her head felt light, and her ears were ringing. Likely more tired from the birth than she felt. Oddly, Ziggy making a comment about the basket being stolen, had a revelation effect on her. Not that it was stolen, but there was another keyword. Usdia. Elune watched on in awe, as her family began to buzz about the basket, and she wept silently. Perhaps the foal wasn't unhealthy, but was merely a different race all together. This lifted her spirits. "I'm okay. It's going to be okay." she finally spoke to Toki, answering his question. It had not gone unheard, she just didn't know the answer until now. Now, she had that glimmer of hope.

"Awwwww! You made her cry!" Mystic reared back a hoof, ready to give her dad a whopp. Elune stopped her though, assuring her they were tears of relief. She put her hoof down, and relaxed. Good thing. Ziggy looked like he might cry too, at the thought of hurting his mothers feelings.

Elune lifted her head off Toki, and spoke beneath the fat stream of tears that were rolling from her face. "It's alright. I cry because I'm overwhelmed." She took her time to continue, as it seemed most were waiting for her to say more. She exhaled loudly. "As you might have guessed, it's been a very...surprising day." Orbs of ice looked into Toki's eyes, wanting to catch his gaze for her next words. "Love of my life, it seems the song of our family continues."

Nana smirked at her niece's reaction to her fathers words. Everybody was so concerned with the situation, it wasn't the time to make jokes! Nana's poor father looked so confused and her MOTHER! She looked exhausted! Why would anyone makes jokes now! She didn't understand. But she just assumed that was how her brother reacted to the confusion. It wasn't the easiest thing to process right now.
Coming out of thought Nana nodded at Lyric's words. "Has to be, no?" She smiled.

Toki still was a bit lost. His eye's moved to whomever was talking at the time, still trying to process everything. It did have their colors, but why was it so small? But once Elune leaned on him, she was his attention. And he tried to comfort her with some nuzzling. She had said she was okay, but she was crying. He was now even more confused. And didn't want to see his dear love cry. Especially if he didn't know why that was. Trying to comfort her more, nuzzled more at her face, trying to get the tears from her eyes.

Nana was surprised to see her mother cry. She couldn't recall ever seeing her mother cry before. It almost made her want to cry. Mostly because she didn't know why she was crying. Rushing over to her mother, she also nuzzled her for comfort. No one likes to see their family cry, it tugs at your heart strings. About to give her brother an evil look for the same reason Lyric thought, but her mother spoke up, and brought the attention back to her. Nana slowly began to smile as her mothers words continued. A NEW SIBLING! HOW EXCITING! She was very happy!

Listening to his Elune's words and keeping his attention on her, he had no idea what to say. It was so unexpected, he didn't have any time for a reaction months earlier. So he was just stuck. I mean, he was happy his family with Elune was growing. As he didn't have much of a family other then her. He just didn't have any words, and when he tried to speak, nothing came out. So to reassure Elune, he gave her a heartfelt smile and nuzzled her muzzle lovingly.

Lyric too, went over to comfort Elune. She wiggled her way in, standing with Toki and Nana. With her wing, she brushed her feathers along her grandmothers back softly. "I for one, think this is great! How many can say they have something this wonderful happen to them? Our family is growing!" She almost said the family was getting 'bigger' but well, thought size might still be a touchy subject.

Ziggy was relieved that he hadn't been the cause of his moms tears. "Sorry, bad joke. I'm an idiot sometimes." he followed in pursuit, and stood by his mother and family, letting them do the cuddling. It would be crowded if he joined in too. Looking over his shoulder, he kept an eye on the basket, as if it might walk off. Even if he had some immature tendencies, he was a great father. Given as such, his paternal instincts kicked in, wanting to protect his little sister or brother.

The mood of the forest night elf lifted, as her family's warm affections were given. How lucky she was to have their support and love. Elune blinked off the glass eyed look. "Forgive me, I did not mean to alarm any of you." The tears stopped, but her face was still moist. She couldn't imagine how shocked Toki might be. Trying to think of him, rather than herself, she gave him a reassuring nuzzle of her own. She then looked to each of her kids, and her granddaughter, then over to the basket. "The forest will soon be filled with life again." She watched as Ziggy moved over to the basket, and laid beside it, curled up to keep it warm. It had been laying there only for a few moments, but it was always good to shield it from the elements, so it did not catch a chill. "Thank you my son."

"Someones got to keep the kid warm." he grinned at his family, all too happy to lend a hand. Stretching a wing out, he carefully scooted the basket a little closer to him. "Dad, you and mom should rest. Leave the basket to us." he winked at his sister and Lyric.

"I would like to lay down and rest for a moment." Elune was a little shaky. Perhaps she was more exhausted even still, than she realized. She didn't want to burden Ziggy, or the girls, but would accept the offer. She too thought that her and Toki needed a few moments alone. Even if they were silent moments, to reflect on things that were, and still to come.

Mystic playfully tugged on Toki's mane, then gave Elune a smooch on her cheek. "I don't mind." she closed her eyes and smiled, then went over to Ziggy, and plopped down on his other side. She left the other side of the basket to Nana, should she want to come get close to it too. Stretching her neck over Ziggy's back, she rested her chin on his side, peeking over at the basket with big eyes.

All the while, the tiny little life in the basket, slept unawares to what was going on. It did not know that it was different, nor did it know how large the world was. For now, all it knew, was the protected dark of it's wicker home.

Nana nodded to Lyrics words. "Yes, the family is growing!" the excitement on her face obvious. Who wouldn't want more siblings? More family for Nana to be comfortable with. Be herself! What more could she ask for?

Slowly but surely, the whole situation was sinking in for Toki. He of course was happy to have a new addition to the family. Considering he never knew his parents or any other family, this little one would never be rejected. He was beginning to feel a bit more like himself, calm and collected. And even though Elune and himself had shared moments of affections to ensure they were both okay. He knew not saying anything for such a long period of time would just concern her. Which he didn't want to do, since there was nothing to be concerned about. "Filled with life we created." Toki finally said something. He was happy. The only concern was the size of the new born. A runt? Maybe. Either way, it would be happily accepted into this family.

Nana let out a small giggle with her brothers suggestion. "I'd love to help!" She trotted happily over to the basket, laying next to it with her brother and niece. Nana had always felt like the youngest of her siblings. With how demure and quiet she used to be as a foal, it only made sense. But now she was going to be the big sister. She could be the one helping out, and keeping her younger sibling out of trouble. Staring at the basket, Nana muttered "I'm gonna be a big sister... O uO". Wide eyed and all.

Toki let out a light growl at his mane being tugged at. Maybe a moment of rest wouldn't be so bad. Elune and he would surely have some things to talk about. And he was sure his children and granddaughter would be fine with the basket alone for a moment. What could go wrong with the three of them there? He nuzzled at Elune's cheek, "Lets have a moment darling." He smiled.
