This was a momentous occasion. Today was a first of many, an experiment in several things for him as well as the young woman charged with his care; it was this windless Spring day that Cruz would be tested on his level of trust and resourcefulness while Anita was tested on her ability to trust him. The two parted ways near Gambino's town square, a large fountain in the center, where everything was decorated in pastels, polkadots, tiny wings, and all sorts of streamers and confetti. It was, of course, Gaia`s Easter Festival, and things were getting underway. This was one thing Cruz didn't fully comprehend but he understood that people were excited and things were busy.
Before leaving the apartment, Anita supplied the crocodile frei with a pull string bag full of water bottles, one with a spray cap, and a handful of gold in case he wanted to buy anything as well as use a payphone if he needed, as the young raevan didn't have a personal cellphone quite yet. With the bag pulled over one shoulder, he hovered away from the fountain and gazed upon the hustle and bustle with awe and confusion. There were children giggling, adults conversing, loads of commerce, but there were also mechanical sounds and it took him a little while to track down their source; rabbots of various color were patrolling the cobbles of Gambino's streets but they were so short they could hardly be seen without looking between people's legs. All the same, there were a few fluffy creatures bouncing around that Cruz had never seen before and he wondered if this was normal for the holiday of Easter -- not that he understood its significance, or lack there of.
Food carts, booths for games, even a few small carnival rides were set up all around Gambino Square. Everything looked interesting, but now that he was alone the sheer amount of things to do became overwhelming and instead of making a decision Cruz kept looking between every venue, scrutinizing every possibility with an unpracticed eye. To anyone looking, he might have appeared lost but the look on his face was one of determination; he was determined to enjoy himself, one way or another, and he had a good amount of time to do it in. He just... had to start. Somewhere. Anywhere.

Okay, this was it. Today was the day. Cordelia was tired of being depressed. Now was not the time for pouting in her room, but for action! For far too long had she ignored these feelings and tried to forget without success. Today she was dead set on finding the source of these random emotions that left a hollow feeling in her chest. She knew the direction, like an internal compass it was always pointing her towards Durem, but it seemed she never found what it was she was searching for. Something always seemed to veer her off course, like the world was conspiring against her or something.
Delia shook her head with a laugh. The world conspiring against her? That was absolutely ridiculous! Though she would have to admit that perhaps it was, at the very least, trying to inconvenience her. Ebby was working all day in Barton today so there had been no way she could ask for a drop off and her grandfather didn't own a vehicle. Actually she wasn't even sure if he was licensed to begin with as she'd never seen him behind the wheel once. And to make matters worse she'd gotten to the station just as the train headed for Durem was pulling out. At first she thought it was no problem, that she'd just wait for the next one. But then she quickly found out that the next one wouldn't be there for another hour or so since it was a holiday.
Floating out of the station, the snake gave a huge sigh. It wasn't even noon yet and she was defeated. What was she going to do now? What could she do that would kill that much time? Or maybe she should just consider today a wash and head on home? Losing to her agitation, Delia made a guttural sort of noise as she rubbed her head furiously, putting her ponytailed hair out of place. Why hadn't she planned this out better before she left the house? The least she could have done was check the day!
Just then a wind gust up and something smacked her square in the face. Eye twitching, she wondered how this day could get any worse as she pulled the paper off. Her mild annoyance all but dissipated when she looked down at what she held. It was a flyer for an Easter Day festival. Looking up, Cordelia wondered how she could have possibly missed all the pastel decorations hanging around town until then. 'This Durem thing is really driving me crazy I guess...' she thought as she dropped the flyer in a trash bin and floated away from the station. The town square was just a couple blocks away so it was worth checking out if only to kill time until the next train arrived.
