In short Creative Assembly and their publisher SEGA have teamed up with Games Workshop to create new Warhammer games. Please note, Warhammer, not Warhammer 40,000 - that one is still held by THQ and Relic entertainment.
Is this good news? Creative Assembly is responsible for the Shogun and Total War series of games, so I'd like to think, yes.
Read it all here: http://www.creative-assembly.com/sega-and-creative-assembly-announce-partnership-with-games-workshop-to-create-warhammer-games/
Winnie, if you could, please shout this out loud to the rest of the world?

Darkweaver66 well this should prove interesting It is isn't it? I'm curious to see how they will go about this, as they have so far only done games with a strong historical background, so letting them have a go at a high fantasy setting will be an interesting process to say the least.

There have been total conversion mods for the Total War games in the past for Warhammer Fantasy. A few have been rather well done, showing what can be done with their engine and programming with a few modifications. I'm excited to see what they are able to pull off in house, though.
And as far as THQ/Relic holding the WH40k license, there are good odds that THQ will go under in the near future. They've been cutting employees left and right. Hopefully, Relic will be able to scoop the license out from underneath anyone that tries to poach it off of THQ.
