User ImageCicada was feeling a bit peckish so she decided it was time to get out to munch on some silflay. As she hopped out, she stayed in the shadows for a minute, sitting on her back legs and looking up and around to see if it was safe. It was a beautiful sunny day out so she could see the skies clearly as well as all around the down.

She went out towards some of the longer grass so she could hide as she ate. There was some yummy silflay hidden among the longer dry grass. The longer dry grass wasn't as delicious as the smaller greener silflay. So she began munching as she kept an eye out for the area around her. Her ears turned around listening as she ate for any trouble that might come up behind her.

The chirping of birds grew louder and closer. Unable to ignore them after a few ear flicks, Lime wakes up from sleeping beside the tractor near the pond, and was quickly greeted by the beams of sunlight warming up his entire body. The birds were flittering around the tractor pecking at the beetles that were crawling around the tires. What a sunny day. He lifts his head up, nose pointing towards the sky, front legs out in front of him, and stretches. "Ahhh that was a nice rest" he said as he gives his fur a good shake to get rid of the dirt and bits of dried orange/red leaves off of his fur.

Hopping a few steps forward toward the edge of the pond, he leans down and drinks the water, ears perked up listening to any suspicious sounds. The tall long grass behind him rustled as he took a few more gulps of water... The grass rustled! He immediately stopped drinking and his instinct made him turn his whole body around almost instantly. Crouching down and and not moving, he faces himself towards the direction of the sound, squinting his eyes to have a better look, and noticed two black ears sticking out from between the grass before disappearing again. What is it? A pfeffa? No it can't be, those ears are long... Staying still and close to the ground, he waits for whatever it is moving in between the tall grass to make its next move before deciding to run away or not...

Mud Flower had only been a part of the Down for a little over a month. She had grown accustomed to some things, it helped that she had her sister there. She often had to defer to her sister on things; it wasn’t that she was in any sense an inept rabbit. Quite the opposite actually, it was just that she didn’t completely remember warren rules. She had attacked a rabbit her first day here, she hadn’t hurt them really just startled them. She had stilled once she realized it was another rabbit and not a predator. It was taking some time, getting used to this change.

However those days, of attacking random rabbits, were behind her. She had become a member of the down, and while she didn’t always remember the rules she did for the most part. She tended to just stay away from others, not because she wasn’t particularly social, but because a part of her felt alienated from the others. She didn’t know them, and they didn’t know her. They hadn’t missed her, not really. It wasn’t really them so much as it was her own personal worries.

It left her to tend towards the outside edges of the down to keep an eye out for any dangers. She was always on guard, even when there was no real reason for it. Not that she didn’t believe the owsla were capable, but an extra set of vigilant ears and eyes never hurt; it was this that drove her towards the edges of the down today. She had been restless as of late, no real reason why other than the onset of winter. It was a deep feeling in her bones that drove her to move and explore around the down.

There was something wrong, though what she couldn’t place her finger on. It wasn’t a deep wrongness just a mild agitation, like a fly buzzing around your ear. There was something mounting, the leaders of the down seemed to be whispering an awful lot. She gave an agitated sigh as she moved to the mouth of the warren, standing in the hole for a moment looking about before she moved out and into the open.

She didn’t wait long before making for the edge of the down coming upon a doe and a buck. She stood up on her hind legs, surveying, her eyes falling on the tan coat of a buck she didn’t know and the dark coat of a doe she didn’t know. However both were from her down and thus she let it go at that. Falling back to all fours she settled at the edge. Though the buck is acting curiously hunched over in the brush like some stalking cat, she ignores it. Perhaps he is out here to surprise his lady friend, perhaps he isn’t. Regardless it wasn’t her concern; she began nibbling at the tender pieces of grass.

Not far off from the three rabbits eating sat Hainzyz, he had slipped out to be alone. He was a touch stressed as of late and it was due to this that he had gone out. He needed to clear his head, to breathe and find some peace of mind. Being alone, and being able to sing to himself usually helped. Now wasn’t much different, it had calmed him some.

Hain wasn’t normally one to worry; he was normally a quite chipper fellow. Always with a kind word for those around him and always ready to listen and offer advice when he could. He was an honest rabbit, never being harsh, but always telling it like it was. He didn’t believe in lying, as it never got anyone anywhere.

He moved along slowly through the tall grass, singing softly to himself as he did so. He wasn’t paying much attention to the world around him. He thought he was alone, completely so, and thus he was more than shocked when he nearly ran into Cicada. He stopped abruptly, his singing and all, his nose having almost run into her back. He backed up before sitting back on his haunches.

“Oh, I’m so terrible sorry miss. I thought I was alone you see. I wasn’t much paying attention.” He glanced around himself; he could smell others but currently couldn’t see them.

User ImageThe young doe had only just reached her full weight this past month and was still basking in the responsibilities of adulthood. The shine was starting to wear off, however; mostly because it didn't seem all that different from being an outskirter. Find food, eat, try not to get eaten. Well hmpfh to that. She suspected her marli would be on her about finding a mate next.

She sprung up at the thought, racing across the more open area as if she could outrun the notion. Her lack of care would probably get her into trouble one of these days, but lucky for her no elil were about to witness her mad dash.

Though she did nearly collide with a smattering of other rabbits that she didn't see in the taller grass. Skittering to avoid them, she bounded about and did a circle in her agitation, calming her heart before coming back around to examine them more closely.

No one that she knew, that was for sure.

"S'rry about that... didn't see anyone there."

Cicada was quite startled by the random rabbits that just showed up around her. Two of which almost ran right into her, the first was just not paying attention though she didn't hear him coming so obviously she wasn't paying that much attention either. The other had almost collided with her because she had been running around.

She was feeling very nervous with so many around her just appearing, her heart was racing and her ears were listening all around for what else she might have missed. Though maybe they were similar to her, new to the warren, didn't know many rabbits and were kind of loners. They could have done what she did, come out here to kind of get away from things. Maybe they could be potential friends and maybe they wouldn't judge her for the way she talked.

"Excuse me guys, I didn't hear you arrive
I was just outside here, getting some silflay
I really must pay more attention, if I am to survive
Frithe help me, to keep all the dangers at bay

I am very new here and dont know one rabbit from another
My name is Cicada and its very nice to meet you
I keep quiet for I talk oddly so says my mother
But if the way I speak is not offensive, I think its time to make my debut"

Lime noticed that there are three sets of ears poking in and out of the tall grass now. He twitched his nose faster wondering what he should do instead. "Hmm. I can't wait for them all to come out at once. I'll be outnumbered... Maybe I could run past them?" he asked himself. Curious at that thought, he stopped crouching down and stood up. Stretching his back legs, he readies himself to dash through the tall grass to see what's hiding inside. "Oh dear.. at least if they see me and i see them i could still outrun them" he said as he flicks his tail upward and ran towards the tall grass gaining speed as he went. Lime could feel the wind and strands of tall grass hit against his face and whiskers as he kept on going forward without slowing himself down. The chattering grew louder as he got closer, and he could smell their scents. Curiously dashing ahead with full speed, he saw patches of black and brown as he ran past a stranger. "What was that?" he asked, as he ran through the grass until he was out of sight again. He slowed himself down near a small prickly bush and turned himself around facing the direction of where he saw the blur of colours. "That definitely was another rabbit. I should go back that way" he said, lowering his head to feast on strands of dried grass. "Where are the other two?" he wondered as he kept on eating and inching closer down the path where he saw the other rabbit.

Mud Flower had been listening, if only distantly to what the others were saying when a male dashed past her face causing her to wrinkle her nose in distaste. She didn’t like being almost trampled, nor did she enjoy having dirt kicked up in her face. She groused slightly and that was when she heard Hain’s voice. Or what she thought sounded a whole lot like the soft spoken buck. She moved her way into the grass, waiting politely for Cicada to end finish her little speech before she pressed her nose against Hain’s. “It’s good to see you again.” She whispered softly before looking back at the other two females.

Mud simply inclined her head at the dark tan doe with the white feet before looking at the black and white one. “You do have a funny way of speaking don’t you?” She stated in an amused tone. She meant no harm, but the rhyming at the end of everything made her giggle just a bit. “Sound a bit like those old story tellers.” She mused before shaking her head and preening her ears.

“But no, I don’t see a problem with the way you speak. Odd but sounds fine to me.” She shrugged her shoulders in an odd rolling fashion before pulling down a piece of grass to nibble on it. “And does anyone know why that crazed buck is running about like he hasn’t got a lick of sense?” She queued her voice sounding annoyed.

Hain had fallen silent as the other’s spoke but been more than pleased to see Mud Flower come up. He pressed his nose back into hers before looking around at the group. “It’s no problem.” He whispered softly to Fuleao. “We were all sort of hiding in the long grass.” He stated as explanation before turning back to Cicada. He tilted his head to the side before inclining it, settling himself into the grass.

“I like it, the way you talk I mean. It’s very musical sounding, without being a song.” He stated before looking up at Mud’s question. “I don’t know him, no.” He stated before looking past himself towards the edge of the grass. “He is a strange bloke though isn’t he? Running about like that, past us without nary a care. Perhaps he was just in a rush to get somewhere?” He asked looking back at the little group.

“Well I don’t care where he is going, if he runs back by here imma cuff him a good one. Needs to watch where he is going and stop acting like he hasn’t got any sense. At least apologize for nearly running us over.” Mud chided softly, it wasn’t that she was overly angered, just a little peeved that the buck didn’t seem to have a lick of sense in that noggin head of his. Bucks couldn’t live with them and unfortunately couldn’t reproduce without them, she sighed.

Hain gave a small smile. “I’m sure he meant no harm. Probably off to see some bonnie lass or what have you.” He stated looking back around at the females. “Right? Besides no one was hurt?” It was clear he was asking a question, making sure no one was actually hurt.
