A chilly breeze swept across the area and caused Anemy to shiver. The wind caused movement to the grass around Anemy, and as a result, she almost didn't hear the movements that the creature was making. Until she noticed that the noises were getting louder.

She crawled backwards, putting more distance between herself and the strange animal. Had it not understood them? Or worse, was it going to attack them? Anemy let loose a small whimper, but quickly went back to her normal behavor. She needed to act brave at least. If this ... Thing, had intentions to attack the pack, Anemy needed to show the courage that mere pups could summon. That the adults were even more fearsome.

"He..." Was that... Anemy perked her ears up again. Was that, a voice? Was it trying to talk to them? Did it.. Understand them?! "What was that?" She barked. The excitment of a new creature overpowering her fear. "Could you say that again? I didn't hear you."

The breeze caused the wind to shake around him, but Ahote paid close attention to the creature as it crept closer to them. It was right there near Anemy though he wasn't sure if it knew it or not. He breathed a small sigh of relief as his sister backed up to put a bit more distance between them. It wouldn't be good for her to be very close if whatever it was wasn't friendly.

He heard a soft, unfamiliar voice speak before Anemy barked at it.

"Anemy," he growled low and shook his head at her, "keep your voice low," he whispered before turning back to the creature.

"Please, we would just like to know what you are."

"I.... Li.... So... He-lp..." The voice sqeaked. Anemy managed to hear the last word clearly. Although all the words this creature was saying were seperate and often too quiet to hear.

"Help." Anemy repeated softly. "It's asking for help." She muttered to herself, although she was sure that the creature could probably hear her. It moaned. A low, exausted, painful moan that sounded like whatever it emerged from was suffering, on the brink of death.

"Ahote." She "whispered" to her brother. "I think it's hurt."

The male juv's eyes widened when he heard the final word come from whatever the creature was. Right now it didn't matter what it was, right now it was hurt and it needed help. But what could they do? Ahote wasn't too sure if the creature would be allowed to follow them back to get help and, even if it could, there was no way they would be able to help it back.

Ahote turned to look at Anemy. "We should go get help; there's no way we could help it on our own."

Now the question that remained, was which one of the pups would run back home to find an adult (who was preferably a healer) and which one would stay and brave danger, staying with an abnormal beast. Finally, Anemy gulped and broke the silence. "I'll stay here and make sure it doesn't get itself more hurt." Her words came out a little harsher than she intended. "And before you can argue with me, it can't hurt me when its barely able to walk three feet on its own." She said not only for her Ahote's benefit, but for Anemy herself as well.

"So you go find an adult, alright?" Again, her entire monolog sounded harsher than Anemy orginally pictured it to be. Her words passed on more anger and slight hatred than they did when she composed them in her head.

She shook her head, shaking lose all desire to say more and ruin the situation more than she already had...

Anote didn't like any of this; not the tone that Anemy was using with him and not the idea that he should leave her alone out here with whatever that was. He didn't care that it was hurt, Anemy was still one of his sisters, one of his little sisters and he did not want to leave her out here alone where she could be hurt.

"I don't like this," he told her, though he was beginning to see the benefit to him going and getting an adult. "You should run back and get an adult; you're steadier than I am right now. You'd get there quicker."

Anemy made a gulping sound from her throat. It was becoming clear that neither of the two were overly fond of leaving one another with the monster. Well, why would they be? It was a strange creature. The likes of which, none of the two had seen before in their entire lives!

Still, one of them had to be brave, and one had to go. Anemy had already tried being brave, but Ahote had had a vaild point. The fear that had long ago left Anemy had almost consumed Ahote, forcing him to be more jittery than usual.

Or at least in Anemy's mind that was why he wanted her to go.

It was for that reason alone that Anemy slunked away from her brother and the beast, running back towards the pack. Where would she go? Home? Dad probably wasn't home, nor was anyone else. So that was out of the question. The healers would be her best bet, along with maybe two or three guards...

Ahote breathed a small sigh of relief when Anemy headed back the way they had come. At least she would be out of harm's way, just in case the creature was playing with them. He took a calming breath to steady his heart and stood up with his head held high.

He was brave; he could be brave! Never had he felt the urge to run more than he had that night. He fought his urge off; he had to wait here until Anemy came back with help and he would be strong.

"My sister is bringing help. It's gonna be okay," he told the creature, trying to keep his voice steady, not to show his fear. He hoped Anemy would be back soon.

Now that she had a plan, she was quicker in moving. She tripped, skidding on the ground, her face collecting dirt on her already dark fur. Getting back on her feet, she shook some of the dirt off before she started running again. 'Find help.' She said to herself. 'Find dad. Find a doctor, and a guard, and dad.' She kept repeating to herself, not that she'd forget. It was hard to forget something so important. She was more saying it to calm herself down. Avoid freaking out and becoming scared again.

Because fear was currently ruining not only Anemy and Ahote's lives, but the creature as well.

Ahote could feel his heart pounding in his chest; it was pounding so hard, he was convinced it would burst out of his chest. He took a step closer to the creature, feeling his legs starting to shake as he did.

"It'll be okay. Anemy will be back with help soon," he wasn't sure if he was saying that to comfort the injured creature or himself, "It'll be okay."

He got as close as he dared and laid down in the grass to wait for his sister to return. His nerves got the better of him and he let out a mournful howl into the night.

Anemy's ears sprung up when she heard a howl. Had something happened? The sound had come from the direction Ahote and the creature were. Did it attack him? Or worse, had another beast attacked the two?

The black pup shook her head, concentrated on finding someone able to help. Somehow her feet had dragged her to the family den, and Anemy stood panting heavily in the doorway. "Hello?" She called, the moon was brighter tonight than most, so adjusting her sight to near pitch-black was hard. "Is anyone still here!" She waited for a responce, even a low moan that the creature gave. A whisper. "Please, I need help, it's important!"

Even though she strained her ears, no one replied. No movement, nothing. She stamped her paw into the ground and snarled. The one time she needed someone other than Ahote to help her...

Ahote managed to shed a few frightened tears, thankful that Anemy wasn't there to see them and hoping that no one would bother him or that the creature wouldn't use it as an opportunity to attack.

He wiped his eyes with a paw and slowly crept closer to the creature. "I'm sure she'll be back soon," he hoped his voice didn't come across as unsteady as he thought it did. He waited for a response and the sound of approaching pawsteps as he laid back down.

"It's this way!" Anemy called, rushing ahead without any sign of slowing down or stopping. She wasn't sure who they were, or if they were even part of the pack, but she had managed to find two wild dogs to help her a little farther away from the packs land then normal. They didn't look exactly all grown up yet; but they were without a doubt older than all of Anemy's siblings and herself. For that reason, she trusted them to be able to... She didn't know! They could do something about the situation that didn't involve death. Other pups would be either big ol' scaredy cats or want to inflict more pain onto the beast they had found.

Anemy didn't like either of those options, so she had decided that finding a grown up would be best. And lucky for her, she had found two almost-grown ups. So now her fear was completely gone, and instead had been replaced by confidence. Bravery. Hopefully Ahote wasn't too scared by now.

"Ahote!" She barked, unable to resist calling his name. "Ahote! Where I you? I got help!"

---

Voices... Forcing his left eye open, he stared blankly at what was in front of him. The darkness made it near-impossible to see. Especially since he was drifting in and out of sleep.... It was so... Tiny. Like a cub... Was it whimpering? Well, he was certainlly bound to be quite a ugly sight. No wonder this cub was scared...
Shouting... Had someone lost the cub? Were they coming back to get it? More whimpering... He was tired. So very tired, fighting to not fall back asleep was easier said then done. He had managed to let loose a loud moan though, so at least they wouldn't think he was dead. Although, depending on who had found him it might have been best to play dead... Shouting again. Footsteps, no not quite... Someone was running?

"He-lp..." He sqeaked out meekly again. His throat was so dry that it felt like razor blades cutting it every time he tried to speak. But speaking was the only sign of his being alive other than dramatic, dying noises...

When he heard his sister calling out to him, Ahote jolted back up and barked towards the direction her voice was coming from. She had found help! They could help the creature and they would be safe! The pack would be safe! He had never been so relieved to hear his sister's voice in all of his life!

"We're over here!" he called to her and whoever was with her before looking back at the creature. "You're gonna be fine; Anemy brought help!"

Does this seem like a good end point?

Her tail was wagging happily as she ran over to Ahote and the strange creature. The two adolencent dogs hurried after her, pausing briefly as they saw the beast that Ahote and Anemy had been defending. But of course, they got right down to business and started to calm the animal down, ressuring it that they weren't a threat.

Anemy on the other hand ran right up to Ahote with a happy-go-lucky grin on her face. She gave him a slight affentionate nuzzle before bursting out into conversation with him. "This was the best adventure yet! Do you think anyone will believe it even happened?", and of course, "just wait until we dad finds out about this!" She was just so happy. Even to the extent that she threw in some compliments to Ahote (which is uncommon since Anemy could be very self-centered at times.)

Today was the best adventure they'd had yet. Without a doubt. In fact, it was possible that it could have been the extreme highlight of their lives. That they found a horribly exausted beast and had saved it's life! In all the exictment, Anemy had managed to say one line that she wouldn't forget until tomorow. "I can't wait for our next big discovery!"
