The pride was, as far as he could see, starting to shrink. New lions had just come in, and now more were leaving. Ngoma stood near the border, staring out across the expanses of the land. He'd sired a litter of cubs here, watched them grow up... And his sons had come into their manes just as things began to collapse. He hadn't seen the pharoah in a while, nor any of the other high-ranking lions. Was hope lost? He lifted his chin to the sky, closing his green eyes. Maybe... It was time to find out if what his sister had told him... Was true.
Ramla stopped next to Ngoma, having followed him. "You seem to be lost in thought..." She looked around at the desert that surrounded them, with a couple long-dead trees dotting the landscape. If there was any hope of trees growing, that hope was gone with the drought. It refused to end as far as she could see, like the gods didn't want rain to come. "Is it because the pride seems to be... Collapsing?" She was afraid it was. He'd talked before about taking her to see the places he'd been, as well as visit HIS desert. She had to admit fear about leaving.
"Maybe... A little..." He looked at her. "Ramla... I think it may be time to leave... We don't want to be the only lions here when everyone leaves, do we..?"
Ramla was silent before she let out a sigh. "I suppose not... But I'd hate to leave our kids, even if they're adults... Should we find a group to go with us, so we're not so... Alone? Exposed?" Far be it from her to admit... She was afraid of being ambushed.
