MidnightLetter Infected Fruit Esiris What do you mean by "necromancy"? just it in general. So, divining the future by interacting with the dead? Not to my knowledge. alright. I was just interested in knowing! emotion_c8

mqstalker Isn't necromancy controlling the dead? If I'm not mistaken, that wouldn't be considered going along with Wiccan teachings since, technically, you're forcing someone/somebody to do your bidding, against their will. (if I am mistaken, though, please correct me. I'm here to learn, first and foremost.)
It's divination via communication with the dead. You can tell by the -mancy part which indicates divination, e.g. cartomancy.
Used to be divination via exhumed corpses circa 1200 biggrin which sounds a lot more messy, difficult and less likely to be helpful. It's from the Greek "nekromanteia", from nekros "dead body" + manteia "divination".
Controlling the dead would be a different word, which you could probably make up if you felt like it and had an Ancient Greek dictionary to hand.
