As survival tactics class came to a close and the prospective future hunters, huntresses and guardians gathered themselves to begin wandering home towards the temple, Bekh-pena stalled several paces behind his siblings. The air had already begun to chill now that the sun had disappeared behind the dunes, and for a moment the dark figure gave pause to enjoy the brisk breeze that ruffled his fur.

Growing older certainly had its advantages. The freedom was a nice change of pace and admittedly, Bekh was glad not to have the damn nannies breathing down his neck now that he was old enough to look out for himself. But. With age also came a certain amount of responsibility. What classes he now attended with the pride's Scholars were now a matter of importance, unlike the pride history and basic tutor sessions they gave all the cubs. A poor farce of a learning environment given that half the time everyone was too busy fooling around to give much heed to the teacher.

Carefree days, those were. Little did you realize it at the time, but the apprentice Guardian was learning it now. He preferred to avoid the sharp stares of disapproval that cut across the class when Bekh was caught in the midst of a daydream. It wasn't that he didn't want to take his future position seriously, but who the hell could concentrate when there were so many other things to think about? Chandran had been acting weird of late. Well.. weirder than usual and the proposed twin always caused Bekh some level of concern.

Would he leave them some day? Sometimes it seemed as if he wasn't always there to begin with.

So upon taking note of the familiar, pale backside off in the distance the strange feline broke from the rest of the group headed towards the stone columns. Calling to Arusi and Sihu flippantly, Hey, I'll meet you guys back at the den!

Without waiting to hear their reply Bekh veered, jogging towards the edge of the pride where Chandran sat though he put on the breaks just before reaching all those stunning, solid stripes and rosettes that resembled his own. Flicking a stray stone at his brother's a** for kicks. It was a wide open shot, how could he not take advantage of it? Chuckling wryly, Chan! Your backside's wiiiiiiiide open you dumbass!

Closing the distance between them the awkward adolescent sat beside his sibling, head tilting enough to give Chandran's profile a serious once over. A voice that threatened to waver with the concern Bekh was trying not to make abundantly apparent instead was forcefully injected with comical levity. Y'know.. if you're trying to run away, you're gonna have to do better than this.

Lessons had proven to be the most boring, long-lasting things in existence. Chan was not even really sure what they were learning about half the time, so strangled were his thoughts. His pink, glittery goddess... it was like she constantly moved about in his mind to make up for the fact that she was no-where to be found at all in real life. And she whispered things to him, reasons for her leaving that seemed to make her less of a horrible lioness. Part of Chan must have knew how cruel the female was, but that part was small compared to his lustful, loving, young mind that wanted to embrace the idea that she loved him just as much as he loved her. Gone or not! Not that he was even really sure what love was, at this point.

He blew air from his nose in a hard puff, jumping slightly when he felt the rock suddenly hit him. He turned and gave Pena a meaningful stare and then rolled his eyes. "Yeah, maybe because I wasn't expecting someone to just start throwing rocks at me!" He shot back, obviously not in a humorous mood. He was glad it was Bekh that had showed up though, and he wasn't sure why. All of his siblings had some oddities to them... Bekh might have taken the carcass on weird though. Arusi may have been very boyish and wild, but she made sure to correct others when they started calling her boy! As for Bekh... well... Chan wasn't so sure. She thought she was Chan's twin... which usually made him feel a lot better because he really didn't like being the 'odd-one' out in his family. At least if they were only pointing to pelts.

Chan's lip curled in a forced manner at the second words from his sibling's mouth, though it was apparent how hard he was trying not to chuckle. "Who would try and run away by sitting at the borders?" He scoffed. The laugh he'd been trying to hold back tumbled out as he gave the other a playful but still forceful little shove. "I'm just... I'm uh..." Right, why hadn't he come up with an excuse? And why was he suddenly so nervous when the chance of her being brought up was on paw. "Why'd you follow me anyhow?" His voice became slightly suspicious and very sulky. Of late Chandran had been overly moody, and it seemed more than just the fact the adolescence had hit. Even when he was a cub he just seemed more nervous and shy than sulky about being who he was.

Fffft! That's one-oh-one, bro. You're always supposed to be looking out for the attack you don't expect. Granted, I think if everyone in the pride was busy watching their own backs all the time we probably would have died out ages ago. Laughing at the thought of it and at his own perverse innuendo by extension the concern in the young Dawnwalker's face softened considerably when Chan laughed alongside him. Somehow it was easier to breathe knowing his brother wasn't so far gone he couldn't find the humor in life anymore.

Allowing his twin the shoulder-check as he teetered to one side Bekh righted himself without much hurry and smiled mischievously. If you're not trying to run away, then what are you doing? Waiting for some sweet honey to roll by? Not sure what you'd want with a roguelander though.. they'd never survive out here.

He had absolutely no clue just how close he was to the mark, nor would he likely find out, at least not today, as Chandran changed the subject in a hurried stutter and with a tone that made his dark coated sibling frown with insult. What was I supposed to do? Ignore the fact that you're sitting out here on the pride border staring at an empty desert like a creep? Something's up with you..

Eventually the bite of anger left his tone, shoulders sinking as a renewed worry returned. He hated feeling so far away from the one sibling out of their litter who was the biggest part of him. That wasn't to say he didn't love all his siblings, but Chandran had always been different. Maybe even more different that Bekh was himself. With so many loud, larger than life personalities in their family Chan seemed so lost and muted. Turning his emerald gaze out across the distance where the infernal heat made everything blurr Bekh couldn't look at the lion beside him when he finally spoke again. Voice strained with emotion, You're going to leave, aren't you?
