The heavy huffing and snuffling of a troop of wild pigs woke Tombe from her rest on her usual sunning rock. The cliffs towered at her back, their shadow now only a few feet away from her flicking tail. Soon, the sun would set behind them and Tombe would have to leave her spot at their base in order to hunt and sleep. Opening her blue eye, she glared at the little family of bacon that was digging for truffles at the edge of the encroaching forest. They hadn't noticed her flicking tail yet, so she stilled it quickly in hopes of making an easy kill.
She calculated the distance between herself and the largest walking porkchop. It was too far to simply spring upon it (not to mention that was a bit dangerous- these hams had rather large tusks), but too close for her to take to the air and make an aerial attack- by the time she got high enough and pounced they'd have scattered to the forest. Event a running kill would give them enough warning to flee.... With a huff of annoyance, Tombe gave up on the hopes of a tasty, greasy pig for dinner. Out of sheer frustration, she gave a sharp screech of attack- just to watch the pigs scatter and squeal.
Chuckling softly to herself, she sat up on her warm stone and preened a few of her misplaced wing feathers.

Godric let out a yawn as he finished up his patrol of the forest. He had snagged a few rabbits and a squirrel, which were draped across his back. He was tired, but truly did love hunting and providing for his companion. He smiled a bit, thinking of the interesting female waiting for him near the cliffs. He paused as the sound of pounding hooves permeated the air.
"What the...?" Godric didn't have time to grasp the situation as he was almost plowed down by a group of wild boars. Growling as he was nicked by a sharp tusk, the large griffin took a stab at the perpetrator's underbelly. These beasts were tough to kill because of their tusks and tough skin, but if you sliced open their soft and vulnerable stomach, they bled out rather quickly. Godric flipped himself so that he was above the boar, crushing it under his wait and speeding up the blood loss. He watched lazily as the rest of the group of boars continued running, seemingly unaware of their loss. Godric scoffed. No loyalty among pigs, he observed.
Glancing at the nick in his side, he frowned. It wasn't too bad. It was relatively shallow, but it was infection he was worried about. Boars were dirty creatures. A good soak would take care of it, he reasoned.
Looking down at his kill, he poked it with a claw. Yup, definitely dead. With a great burst of strength, he hefted the boar's corpse onto his back. His rabbits and squirrel had been trampled, but a boar was an good substitute. Tombe would hopefully be pleased.
Breaking the treeline, he caught sight of said female preening herself on her usual rock. He smiled, observing her for a few seconds. He walked further and dumped the boar down off his back, happy to lose the burden.
"Dinner's served," he grinned.

She glanced up at him with, a smile quickly forming at the sight of him. Always the perfect male, he'd managed to snag one of the boars! She admired the almost cocky way he came towards her- confident, strong, powerful, happy. True, he had annoyed her a little when they first met- she felt at times that he had been a bit of a... well, 'goody two-paws' was what came to mind the quickest. However, his charms had won out and she was happy to have him around.
Trying not to drool (that's not very ladylike), she hopped down and gave him a cat-like head nuzzle in appreciation. Not usually one for giving physical affection, she was hungry enough to forget her usual aloofness. Spring was a time of growing, and despite having been an adult for almost a year now, she was still filling out her form. What had once been the sleek body of youth was filling out with muscle and the softer lines of one who rarely goes wanting. Not an ounce over weight, just well formed.
Tombe gave him an appreciative purring rumble as she turned her attention to the meal. A bit of mud had gotten into the underbelly, where he'd slashed it open, but she wasn't a terribly picky eater. It was fresh, and that was better than nothing! Laying down, she set one paw on the haunch, latching onto a bit of innards that had slipped out, and ripped the piece away. Gulping it down quickly, she sighed with contentment, pausing from further devouring the boar to wait for him to join her.

She enjoyed the silence as they ate, content to simply be for a while. The warm sunning from earlier, the fully belly now, and the contentment of having someone to trust, all put her in a good mood. She was becoming restless with the season, unsure of the meaning behind the fidgeting, but content to go with it. She wanted to be out- doing something. Anything!
Standing up, she stretched out her front half, wings spreading, claws digging into the ground. With a little huff, she sat back down to preen the blood away as she spoke, "Thank you Godric." Smiling over at him in what could almost be seen as a 'coy' manner, she tested the winds and looked about restlessly. She kneaded her claws unconsciously, tail flicking slowly. "We have some light left..." She observed, staring out at the cliffs where the sun was slowly setting.

Catching an updraft, she glided for a moment- eyes closed to the setting sun, heart singing with the pure joy of flight. She barely heard Godric take up the challenge, sighing deeply before glancing over her shoulder with a coy grin. He was gaining- for now... Giving a few good pumps of her wings, she teetered on the breeze, waiting for the perfect moment. There! The updraft that was supporting her shifted and she fell into 'empty air,' as her mother had called it- nothing to hold you up except your own wings. Dropping down into this pocket, she tucked her wings back and angled herself downwards, plummeting towards the earth below before snapping her wings open again and using her momentum to shoot her forward, parallel to the ground.
Ha! Let him follow her through that! She grinned smugly to herself, risking a backwards glance to see his progress.
