All throughout the island every single piece of non-runic glass is being repaired with painstaking effort and a lot of apologies. All throughout the island hunters find themselves hugging each other or saying extremely long, heartfelt, and sad apologies, giving in to feelings and a lot of remorse. All throughout the island, hunters would find themselves consumed by dreams of regret over making terrible decisions, but especially decisions that make them feel self conscious. There are a lot of deflated egos and sentimental hugging and maybe even crying. The curse lasts until sunrise the next morning.

"It's not fair," Mark repeated, making sure he got the correct amount this time, "the internet told me you can either be smart, or good looking, and not both. It's probably like, because I'm too good looking that nobody respects me. And like, respects me."

Mark was talking of course, to his computer. And because his computer was a computer, and it hadn't developed enough artificial intelligence to actually do anything other than be a computer, it did absolutely nothing.

The Death Assistant curled back into his hammock and stared into space, retreating back into his dream world. He dreamed of a world where he was smarter and better looking than everyone else. He dreamed of a world where everyone saw how crazily beautiful and awesome he was and worshipped him.

And a little girl, sitting next to the hammock heard. She liked dreams, especially grandiose dreams, and sometimes, just sometimes, she liked a little bit of mischief.

The dream twisted, and then swapped with reality.

Again this is an optional status effect (technically happens to everyone awake for the IC few hours or so). You can choose to rp around it, it's just fun and optional for anyone who wishes to use it!

POOLING RESOURCES

It seems this invasion has sparked a sort of determined awakening on Deus in the divisions. They have finally, in the first time in a while, gathered together to consolidate their finds for each division. The result is quite a few new developments, hopefully to prevent the situation from worsening. While each Division Leader has their own personal interests, it seems they do have a common interest at heart, as each of them has personally invested a lot of time onto the island, finally giving the clearance for multiple co-divison project releases.

- Standard and advanced runic weapons have been unlocked. This also covers the difference between standard/advanced runic weapons and runic weapons upgraded through bonus RP points. All Hunters eligible icly and oocly may apply!

gaia_crown RUNIC WEAPON APPLICATION: For emergency weapon lockdown situations, you may now use ADVANCED runic weapons as backup attack weapons. Your Hunter will need to take the practical runic weapon exam (see link). This will allow them to use Advanced Runic Weapons with much higher dice then melee in any weapons locked battle.

LIFE LABS R IN TRUBS

SNOW WEEK

It begins with an extremely sunny morning, the sort of clear, beautiful day that makes a person feel lucky to be out under a cloudless blue sky. Later there's a bit of wind and then the clouds begin to slowly swirl up from the horizon. The drizzle later that evening isn't so strange, but it starts to get cold. So, so very cold. Heaters are turned on for the first time in years, and those stuck down in the underground labs can only be grateful that the collapsed ceiling and blown out walls have been fully repaired in the last few months. The basement dorm rooms are especially miserable, a chill set of dungeon cells for new trainees to question life choices even more than usual.

And then it begins to snow.

And continues to snow.

For the next day, and the one after that. The second day most work has been cancelled, excepting for those who are assigned to find out why. And potentially kill or capture the answer.

By the fourth day, the snow lightens, but by then the damage is done.

The Island of Deus Ex Machina is now covered in 13 feet of snow.

STATUS EFFECT: THE LOST BOYS

It began with a dream. It was an easy dream, one of a memory from a long time ago, probably when you were fourteen, fifteen, sixteen maybe. It involved family, no matter how good or terrible, and it involved a tragic story of shadows.

It was a good dream, until you woke up, and realized you were still in the dream and everything looked odd and strange and you couldn't remember any of that.

- Your character CANNOT REMEMBER ANYTHING AFTER THAT PARTICULAR AGE IN THEIR LIFETIME. Neither can their weapon from before they were Y1/ the equivalent of Y1 starting off at school on their first day

- All their weapons have reverted to their FIRST STAGE. They obviously don't remember how they got here or why. They don't remember your character at all.

- Your character has literally the crappiest stats of 2d6-6/ 3 charges for a y1 Fear and 30 HP.

- This event happens AFTER any currently existing rp. Meaning if you rp anything currently, including the ORP, this is an event that will happen after anything from your existing rps have concluded.

STATUS: TIDINGS FROM THE THE DEEP

One night, several days after that particularly dangerous orientation, uneasy dreams of the sea plague the island. A dark tide pulls and pulls and pulls at them, unrelenting, all-consuming. It feels like as if to be dragged beneath those waters is to die, alone and suffocating beneath something so immense as to break apart human comprehension. When they wake up, panting as hard as if they'd just been fighting on the frontline, there's a pressure, sense that something is out there.

The next day is grim and cloudy. The waves are violent and the beach looks more dangerous and uninviting than it has in years. In the distance, it looks like forms are rising up from the waters, only to disappear once more beneath a wave. A trick of the eye?

In awhile, phones come to life with warnings. A storm warning and something else. Hostile Powers Detected. Do Not Go Out Alone. Always Have Your Weapon.

The worst comes with the rain that night. From puddles and slick sidewalks, figures silently rise up and begin to stalk the island of Deus Ex Machina.

Summary

The waters surrounding Deus have turned hostile toward all hunters. Crashing waves have swallowed the beaches and the tides eat at the farmland. Massive forms rise from the water, attacking all who come close. Smaller forms slither further ashore, attacking the unwary.

If your rp is outside they will have a battle with a water golem. They can take on any sort of shape you like: dragons, tentacle beasts, sea orbs, it can be anything ~ though obviously they won't have any detailed features!

You may pick your mob. Outside of the status these are standard rp/orps. These do count for mentoring!

AD: Auto Damage (damage done to your char per attack/ heal/ defense)

Modifier: the dice modifier/ sub the usual 2dx-6 (the -6 part) for any any applicable modifiers below.

HP: HP stands for "Hit Points" or somtimes referred to as Health pool. A Health Pool is the amount of damage a character can take before the get "KO", aka knocked out, where they cannot take any damage. Hit points are commonly used in game design to reflect the growing nature and versitality of different characters. They can be used to reflect how dangerous characters can be as well as keep a referential stat idea of a character's existing status. While only introduced in TiH 7 years ago, we hope you'll have fun with this new hit point mechanic! Dont forget to subtract your damage you got from your hit points!

THE TREE

For those returning from a base months later, you notice it more. For those on Deus, for those who see the island every day, perhaps it is a little less obvious.

The tree has grown quite considerably. Where there were clusters of leaves that kept the same colours oblivious to the seasons, there are now branches extending further and further. While the roots of the tree themselves have not quite encroached too far into the island itself, there is no no avoiding the noticeably large tree on the far side of the island on any sort of leisurely beach combing stroll. It doesn't feel threatening at all, but sometimes, you have a hard time remembering it wasn't always on the island to begin with.

STATUS EFFECT: FEAR OF DEATH

Your character has forgotten it.

A specific feeling of Fear. Instead, where that fear should be, there is just a strange barricade, of something they should know, but cannot. Sometimes it creates a headache, sometimes their body overreacts and just is scared without knowing why.

Something deep and ancient was broken, and now pieces of it have begun to assemble and break free.

They take the form of dreams, nightmares, they take the form of self-created memories of bits and pieces. Your character, and sometimes, even their friends are there, others, family, other characters. They are there and they witness your character's death. Or perhaps they die alone - but one thing remains constant.

They witness their personal greatest fear of death.

It always ends the same way, and for characters who fear a great many things, there's an infinite number of outcomes. Most will believe this is how they die, as this is the easiest gap to fill in, but the true explanation is not how they die but what they fear will happen.

After they do, they always wake up. And after their first experience they remember it - not so long ago they were afraid, so afraid, to die.

- You may use the above prompt to create Death Scenario prps, (and even death solo scenario ones!) You can weave it however you want and even invite other characters to these situations. It always ends with your character (the person holding the rp), or someone close to them (make sure that rper consents) dying, and while they are trapped in that reality, they for some reason are unable to remember that this is not real.

Tl'dr this is a death "scenario" rp, where your character can experience any death scenario of themselves you want.

gaia_star In addition, if your character has completed this in any shape, way, or form, they regain back to the ability to fear death, and recognize if that scenario actually becomes reality in any circumstance, and avert it.

STATUS EFFECT: TINY HAPPY PEOPLE



Hunters deal in Fear. It's what the organization was created to combat, what their weapons were made to defeat, what their eyes have learned to see. There's other energies from other worlds, but the expertise of Deus is utterly, totally, 100% completely focused on Fear.

And yet.

"Like the legend of the phoenix...all ends with beginnings!"

"Don't...don't sing. Why are you singing?!"

"What keeps the planet spinning...the force of love beginning."

"This is an important test right now, and you're being seriously...seriously unprofessional. I'm...I'm going to tell on you, I'm going to stop this program right now and tell on you for being unprofessional."

In the predawn hours, one room in the labs was very...green. Cheesy paper decorations featuring cartoon characters and clovers were surrounded by actual the actual plants, specially bred in that very lab to only produce four leaf clovers. There were banners galore and one of the figures was doing an awkwardly enthusiastic dance to her own singing, light-up sunglasses spelling out the word LUCKY, flashing with every move.

The other woman in the room took off her glasses with a sigh and didn't follow through with her threat, instead choosing to just ignore the following up all night to get Lucky's.

When the regulator was finally sync'd properly with the conversion prototype and the nothing melted, exploded into a monster, or opened a portal, she let out a sigh of relief as the other cheered excitedly.

Above the island, a rainbow shot across the sky, perfectly framing the island. As moments passed, it grew more and more solid looking, its colors intensifying despite the sky still being dark.

Back in the lab, the two women settled down to test the effects, to see if they'd truly, finally, harnessed the power of Luck. And after a moment, passed out, along with every other Hunter currently awake.

When they woke up, it was to a very, very, big surprise.
