Couldn't resist the alliteration in the title.

Anyways, after some thinking, it's occurred to me that the reason I'm terrible at keeping journals/blogs/tumblrs is that, after awhile, I feel like I'm pointlessly talking to myself. They can be remedial for a time, but when they get to be an obligation rather than something enjoyable, I tend to abandon them altogether.

Then I discovered that lovely Miss Mame had a section on the forums for personal updates and couldn't agree more with the idea. Here's mine.

I suppose a brief introduction is in order: I go by Matt outside of the internet, I'm 18, I am currently engaged in a poly relationship, and come January 17th, I will be leaving home to start my second semester at New Mexico Tech. I'm majoring in Information Technology.

I'm a gamer, furry, and brony, though not necessarily simultaneously in all cases. As you can imagine, these facts, plus my choice of school, make me a surefire, grade A, 120% pure GEEK. If you want to talk gaming, or ponies, or whatever else, you've certainly got a valid audience in me.

For those curious as to the specifics of my relationship, here's a little diagram (using internets-names to protect the innocent):

Graverg--Mame--Me--Reya--Cephy

(^^^^^)
(Yes, our Mame)

5 point link (well, I think Graverg might have an extra point on his end, but I hardly correspond with him).

Anyways, there's a start. I'll try to periodically let you know of what's going on in my life.

Cheers!

You'll be quite at home here I think then, Leif.

I actually blame Mame for bringing me into the Herd mrgreen
sweatdrop I also once mislabeled a thread as a pony thread to snag her attention.. but that lead to the creation of a legitimate pony thread for the guild.

Well, we've heard bits and pieces. It's much better to actually have the person drop in though. smile We're not all that scary (I hope).

Like my signature says, I'm part of the brony and furry community. I've seen some CREEPY individuals... y'all are nice and cordial.

So, curiosity compelled me to read this 'cause I keep tabs on what's going on in the guild by stalking the recent posts thing and really only saying anything in my own thread. But I saw NMTech and was like " surprised Holy shi-!" because, for some reason, it always surprises me when I come across someone on gaia who's from New Mexico, too. ^^;;
Anywho.. Heyo and welcome to the guild. =^-^=

Heh, it's a shame a lot of New Mexico isn't too much to get excited about. Are you in the Abq area or Socorro? Or elsewhere? Anyhoof, it's a pleasure to meet you, thanks for the greetings.

So, standard life update time, I guess, since this has kinda turned into an intro thread for the time being:

I'm at home in Rio Rancho, NM at present. I'm going to be there until January 17th, when my classes in Socorro at NMTech pick up again. I'll be taking Physics, Psychology, Statistics, Data Structures & Algorithms, and Taijutsu (and I should really find a printable schedule and all the textbooks I need by next week!).

My parents, at present, are pleased with me. Pleased enough to trust me to go shooting out in the mesa with my friends tomorrow (that promises to be fun). Heh, it's hard to believe I can be as enthusiastic about ponies as I can about high caliber rifles.

However, all is not well with my parents. It's what they don't know about me that keeps me distant from them, and I love them far too dearly to break the good relationship we have going just to get things off my chest...

Things such as my sexuality, my occasional outings with hookah (a tobacco apparatus) and the fact that I'm in a polyamorous relationship. My stepfather is not the most accepting of characters, especially not when it comes to alternative sexualities. My mother, on the opposite end of the spectrum, would not mind that... but she is the type of mother that is liable to worry about "her baby," and his happiness. I don't think she'd agree with me having a single long-distance relationship, let alone two. As such, they're both in the dark on these matters of my private life.

Poly and my sexuality are a chicken and egg problem with me... I'm not sure which came first, but one was soon to follow the other. As much happiness as they've given me, they're not exactly easy for me to deal with on the family side of things...

Mame and I were hoping I could fly up to Canada for a visit next winter. At the moment, it's a ticking time bomb for me as to how I'm going to properly explain to my mother why I'm flying to another country, even if only for a week. It's a matter that I have plenty of time to deal with, yet I'm still unsure as to how everything will work out.

Well, live for the present for now, I suppose. I ought to get myself showered and to bed; I'm going to have to get up early tomorrow to join my friends. Thanks for reading through my wall of text, I'm glad to have it... sorta off my chest. At least out in the open in a supportive environment.

Well my first "meeting" with your mom went well enough. biggrin Sorry I was cooking dinner and she had to shout hello towards me as I was looking in the freezer for something sweatdrop

Even so, it sounds like she suspects stuff with us anyway, it won't come as a surprise to her. We should have a time when we can talk more, meet a few more times, wave...

And hoooly poop I keep forgetting about Reya and Cephy when writing my relationship configurations. I'm going to make us a constellation one of these days. get it straight it my head once and for all > : |

Actually ends up we're A--P--M--Graverg-Me-You-Reya-Cephy. @.@ I swore I'd never be in this kind of daisy chain. Oh well XD

Los Lunas, actually. And there's a whole lot of nothing to get excited over out here.. At least there's stuff to do in ABQ when you've got money. rolleyes

Heheh, Mom's an interesting character when you actually get to talk with her. Goodness, watching her be all natural drinking on New Year's rather than censoring herself in front of me was... different XD. At least I know she's human now.

I think Cephy has his eyes on an internets girlfriend of his own, so we may be adding yet another link to that chain.

Shooting was enjoyable. Glad to see my gun was well-cleaned and shooting as damned straight as ever.

Some minor catastrophes: exploded strawberry-cherry soda alllll over my lap. I have since changed jeans and will need to wash my jacket crying

In addition, my friend's car seems to have gotten screwed up from the off-roading. What's strange is that he's taken it along these roads before with no issue. Still drivable, he's going to have it checked out by the dealership today with his kickass warranties.

Likely going to be heading over to another friend and future roommate of mine's place by the end of the day, enjoy a weekend at his place. Otherwise, things promise to be well!

So remember that weekend I'm enjoying at a friend's place? Yeah, faulty hardware may be turning that South.

He's been searching for a number of PSP systems lately. He and his family have more money than I have ever seen in my life, so he had the fortune of coming across a metallic blue PSP3001. This thing is ********' shiny.

It also has the issue of not connecting to the internet. At all.

I've run into the DNS error from hell. Manually and automatically entering these settings has done nothing, performing a system update via download onto a memory stick has also not resolved the problem. I cannot get this little b*****d to connect to the internet for the life of me.

This friend is not so rich as to not be a tad ticked that his investment yielded failure in terms of a fully functioning PSP, but I'm truly at a loss. Busted wireless card, router issue, I have no earthly idea.

In case by some random happenstance you all have had the following connection errors on your PSP, let me know if you know of any fixes. I've exhausted all of my google and technical experience and am just running in circles at this point.
