Chapter One: The Mission

Kanda woke u to the soft knock of the Baka Usagi and sighed. "What do you want, Baka Usagi?" He asked glaring at the door.

"Yuu-Chan, Komui has a mission for us." Lavi called into the room.

Kanda cursed. "Don't call me Yuu-Chan, Baka Usagi." Kanda said getting up out of bed in his boxers. He grabbed a pair of pants and out them on. He brushed his hair and grabbed a ponytail holder and put his hair up in his usual ponytail. Grabbing his exorcist coat he put it on and then he grabbed his sword and opened the door to his room.

"Morning Yuu-Chan." The red-headed Bookman Junior said smiling.

"I said don't call me Yuu-Chan." Kanda said smacking the him on the back of the head.

Kanda and Lavi walked to Komui's office and saw Allen and Lenalee.

"Morning Kanda, Morning Lavi." Allen said softly.

"Don't talk to me, Moyashi." Kanda hissed.

"My name is Allen, BaKanda." Allen said.

"Che." Kanda muttered as Komui walked in.

"Okay, I have two missions. Two groups, one in Budapest and one in Japan. " Komui said.

Kanda looked at Komui and nodded. "I'll go to the one in Japan." Kanda said.

"Lavi, go with Kanda to Japan. Allen and Lenalee, you two are headed for Budapest." Komui said hugging his sister.

"Lavi, meet me at the docks in an hour." Kanda said sighing. He went to pack his bag and then to eat breakfast. Lavi sat next to him as he ate his tempura.

Lavi was eating chocolate fill pancakes. "Aren't you from Japan, Yuu-Chan?" Lavi asked.

"Baka Usagi, I said not to call me Yuu-Chan. And yes, I am from Japan." Kanda muttered.

After breakfast they went to the dock finding the Finder Toma waiting for them.

"Morning Toma." Kanda said sounding quite respectful..

"Good morning Kanda-San." The Finding said calmly.

They left the docks and went to the closest town. They jumped on the train and an attendant tried to stop them.

Minutes later Kanda and Lavi were sitting in a private cabin. Kanda was staring out the window, his eyes closing every few minutes.

"Yuu-Chan are you tired?" Lavi asked softly.

"Please stop ******** calling me Yuu-chan." Kanda hissed.

Lavi looked at Kanda and sighed. "How come you shut people out, Kanda?" Lavi asked softly.

"Che." The black haired samurai muttered. "I've told you why many times, Baka Usagi." Kanda muttered. The train whistled signaling a stop. The two exorcists got off the train and looked around.

Lavi looked at Kanda and smiled. "Wanna get something to eat, Yuu-Chan?" The red-headed Bookman Junior asked softly.

Kanda ignored the red head and looked around, his hand never leaving Mugen's hilt as if he expected an attack. A pair of arms wrapping around him causing him to jump slightly. "Kuso!" he cursed and looked at Lavi. "What the hell, Baka Usagi?" he asked.

"You ignored me. I asked of you wanted to get something to eat." Lavi said smiling.

"I am going to keep ignoring you until you stop calling me Yuu-Chan." The samurai said. "I am kinda hungry though. Where are we going?" He asked.

Lavi sighed. "Why can't I call you Yuu-Chan?" He asked softly. He grabbed Kanda's wrist and led him to a restaurant. "Right here." He said smiling.

"Because that is only for Best friends and family. Neither of which I have." He said. Glaring at Lavi when he dragged him to the restaurant. "Looks interesting." He muttered.

Lavi looked hurt. "S-so I'm not y-your best friend?" He asked, hurt. He let Kanda's wrist go and walked into the building.

Kanda noted the look on Lavi's face and sighed. His chest had started aching for some reason when he saw and heard he had hurt the Apprentice Bookman's feeling. He followed Lavi into the building and sighed. I should apologize or something. He thought to himself.

A waitress walked over to the two exorcists with a smile. She handed them menus. "I'll be your server for today." She said. "What can I get you to drink?" She asked.

Lavi looked at the waitress and gave her that charming smile of his. "Coffee, please and thank you." He said smiling.

Kanda took a spoonful of his soup and nodded slightly. Looking up at Lavi.

Lavi ate some of his fish before he noticed Kanda looking at him. "Yuu-Chan?" He asked softly.

"Nothing, Baka Usagi." The samurai said.

"Then why were you looking at me?" Lavi asked.

Kanda returned to his soup. "Because I can." He said. Why did I look at him? He thought to himself.

They both finished their food and split the bill. Walking out of the restaurant, then walked back to the train.

"Can you tell me the next time a train to Berlin Germany will be along?" Kanda asked while Lavi was standing next to him.

"What, taking your boyfriend on a trip Missie?" The guy asked.

Lavi's eyes widened. "Um, actually we're not boyfriend and girlfriend. 'She' is a 'he' and even then we aren't a couple." The Bookman Junior explained.

Kanda was glaring at the guy. "Just tell me when the damned train is going to be here." He said.

"In an hour." He said shaking. He watched the two males walk away.

"Yuu-Chan, you didn't have to be so mean to him." The red-head was heard saying.

"Che. I'm mean to everyone, you know that Baka Usagi. And stop calling me Yuu-Chan. It is Kanda." He said slapping the Apprentice Bookman across the head.

Lavi rubbed his head and sat on a bench. To pass the times he flirted with passing single women.

Kanda watched the Bookman Junior and sighed. "Baka Usagi, stop flirting with people. We have work to do." He said gripping Mugen.

"Jealous, Yuu-Chan?" The Apprentice Bookman asked with a smirk.

"Che, why would I be jealous of you?" Kanda asked. The black haired exorcist began pacing.

"I don't know." Lavi said smiling. He watched Kanda pace, feeling kinda weird. "Will you stop pacing? It is making me nervous." He said.

Kanda looked at Lavi with a slight smirk. "I thought a Bookman never gets nervous." He said.

"So I don't care. I'll get nervous if I wanna." Lave said smiling. "It just can bias the recordings of this war with the Millennium Earl." He muttered.

The train came and they boarded, getting a private cabin. Kanda laid down on one of the seats and closed his eyes. "Get some rest Baka Usagi." He said he said slightly curling up into a ball. He was curled around Mugen.

Lavi looked over at Kanda and smiled. He looks different when he is sleeping. He looks younger. The Bookman Junior thought closing his own eyes.

A few hours later the train screeched to a stop as they entered Berlin Germany. Kanda sat up and fixed his ponytail. He then shook the sleeping red head awake.

"Are we there yet?" The red head asked as he rubbed the sleep from his eyes. He sat up and ran his fingers through his hair.

"Yeah, we are." Kanda said, He waited for Lavi to stand up and stretched slightly. He grabbed Mugen from where it fell on the floor.

They left the train and looked around. Lavi smiled.

Kanda went to see when a train would be available to go to Beijing, China.

"The next available train won't be here until noon tomorrow." The attendant said.

Kanda thanked the person and walked back to Lavi. "We have to wait until noon tomorrow." He muttered to the red head.

"Wanna get a hotel for the night?" Lavi asked. "Then while we wait we could look around." He said smiling.

Kanda nodded. "Yeah, I am kinda tired." He said walking away.

The two exorcists approached a fairly nice hotel. They walked in and the manager looked up from his papers at them.

"How can I help you?" He asked noting the cross on his shoulders.

"We need a room with two beds. And dinner and breakfast." Lavi said with a smile.

Kanda nodded in agreement and glared at the manager for good measure. Pulling out some money he exchanged it for the key.

They walked up to the room and opened the door. "I want the bed by the window." Kanda muttered.

"I want first shower." Lavi said sitting on the bed opposite the one Kanda claimed. Watching the black haired male go about the room making sure it wasn't trapped or anything.

"Che. Whatever." Came Kanda's muttered reply as he sat on the bed across from Lavi.

"I expected more of an argument, Yuu-Chan." The Apprentice Bookman said smiling.

"Kami chikusho, stop calling me Yuu-Chan!" He yelled. It is Kanda, not Yuu-Chan." He muttered.

"Kami chikusho? What does that mean?" Lavi asked looking at Kanda.

"It means God damn it. That is what it means." He said untying his hair. He pulled out one of his brushes and ran it through his long blue black hair.

Lavi gasped and stood up. He walked to the bathroom to take a shower. He stripped and turned the water on. Stepping in the hot water, he washed quickly.

Kanda laid down laying his arm over his eyes and sighing. Soon enough they would be in Beijing, China, then head to Japan. He sighed as he heard the water being shut off.

Lavi walked out of the bathroom in a pair of pant to see Kanda sleeping. He shook the sleeping man awake and got a glare.

"What?" Kanda asked glaring at Lavi. ((Continue later))

Chapter One: The Mission (Cont.)

"Thought I'd let you know the shower was open if you wanted to take one." Lavi said. He walked over to the bed and laid on his side as Kanda went to the shower.

Kanda walked into the bathroom and turned the water on. He undressed and hopped into the shower. Relaxing as the warm water pelted him. He finished and dressed in pants. He walked out of the bathroom and brushed his wet hair. He laid down and went to sleep.

Lavi woke up the next morning and put a shirt and his exorcist jacket on. He looked at the black haired samurai with his long blue black spread out over the pillows. He looked at the clock. It said 10:30. He woke Kanda up with a shake.

"Kanda, it is 10:30." He said softly before the samurai could ask what he wanted.

"And your just now waking me up?" Kanda asked, sitting up, his long blue-black hair falling over him like a curtain. Grabbing his brush from the dresser he ran it through his hair gently, putting it back into it's ponytail.

"I woke up only a minutes ago." Lavi replied. He watched Kanda put on a shirt and his exorcist coat.

"Che. Useless Baka Usagi." The black haired exorcist muttered, standing and grabbing his sword shaped innocence. "Let's go." He muttered.

Lavi smiled and followed Kanda to the dining hall in the hotel. "Did you sleep well, Yuu-Chan?"

"Just shut up, Baka Usagi." Kanda muttered darkly. Kanda walked out of the room and downstairs, his ponytail swaying behind him.

"Yuu-Chan, are you mad at me?" Lavi asked his friend. He tripped and fell onto Kanda's back.

"Seiko." The Japanese man muttered darkly. Once this Baka Usagi gets up, he is gonna get it. He thought.

Lavi stood up and backed into a wall, covering his face in case he was going to get hit. "Yuu-Chan, I'm sorry, don't hit me." The red head said softly.

Kanda had raised his hand to hit the red head until he heard the apology. "Che, get away from the wall. I'm not going to hit you." The samurai muttered softly.

Lavi looked at Kanda wide-eyed. "Y-you're not?" He asked softly.

"It was an accident. Why should I hit you?" He asked softly. The black haired samurai watched the apprentice Bookman's expressions change from scared to relieved.

Lavi smiled softly and they continued their walk to the train station.

When they arrived at the train station Kanda bought their tickets and walked back to Lavi.

"Y-Yuu-Chan, thanks for not hitting me earlier." Lavi said softly, knowing there was still a that the black haired samurai would kick his a**.

"Che, don't mention it." Kanda muttered tightening his ponytail. The train arrived and Lavi and Kanda boarded it. They went to an enclosed cabin and sat on opposite sides. Toma was standing outside of the enclosed cabin.

Kanda sighed and stared out of the window, watching the scenery pass by. He sighed to himself and glanced at Lavi. The Bookman Junior was sleeping against the window, mouth hanging open. Kanda watched the red head sleep and smiled slightly. Standing up he walked over to the red head and brushed his hair out of his face, causing Lavi to stir and mumble.

"Don't do that." The red head muttered in his sleep. Kanda sighed and closed the red head's mouth before he drooled on himself.

Why am I acting so soft? He thought watching the red head.

"Kanda-Sama, would you like you like me to get you anything to eat?" Toma asked through the door.

Kanda heard his stomach growl and sighed. "Soba or tempura. If it is available. If not, some kind of soup." He replied.

"Of course, I'll return in a few." Toma replied. Kanda heard the finder walk away. The samurai sighed and looked back at Lavi. Should I wake him up and see if he is hungry? He thought. He got up and shook the larger male softly.

Lavi woke with a start. "Are we there already?" He asked.

"Iie." Kanda said shaking his head. "I just wanted to see if you were hungry." He said.

Lavi smiled and nodded as Toma returned with some tempura. "Here you go Kanda-San." Kanda took the tempura.

"Lavi-San, would you like something to eat?" Toma asked.

"Yes, please." Lavi said looking at Kanda. He watched the black haired samurai eat his tempura.

"What?" Kanda snapped at Lavi. He glared at the Bookman Apprentice.

"Nothing." Lavi said blushing softly. "How is your tempura?" He asked.

Kanda was taken aback by Lavi's blush, so much that he almost missed the question. "It could be better." He said softly.

Toma returned with something for the Bookman Junior. Toma walked out with a thanks from Lavi.

Kanda finished his tempura and closed his eyes for a nap. He sighed in his sleep, slumped against the window. (Continue later)
