Mafuta'Mla would, despite her own beliefs, never be the most intelligent of hyenas. In fact, she would probably never even be of average intelligence. But she wasn't quite stupid enough to try taking out a lion entirely by herself. Probably. At the very least she wouldn't reject having a partner's aid in something like this, should another offer.
And she'd been in fights before - against other hyenas, felines, even a wild dog once. She knew what she was doing, more or less. But then again that hadn't been in flat-out war, either. War was different, she could feel that down in her bones. It was something of a much larger scale, somehow more deadly than the random skirmishes she had gone through in her life.
Ah well, what did it matter?
Time to take out a lion! (Or two, or three, or...)
This was going to be fun!

There was a commotion in his homeland. Although it had been months since he had left, and vowed not to return, he couldn’t help but wonder what was going on. The scent of blood seemed to plague the trails leading up to the Pridelands. Was there a battle? Because Weusi had left him not to long ago, taking Amaruk with her, Suoh had been rather bored. Instead of leaving the curiousity there, to forever linger on, Suoh decided that he had to find out just exactly what was going on. Something bad, obviously.
He wasn’t exactly in the lands before he saw it. Hyenas battling lions! What was going on?! His brown eyes narrowed as a snarl raised to his maw. No one dare hurt his homeland! What of his mother and father? They were still living here!
It was too bad Weusi wasn’t here to witness this. The charcoal lion had to prove himself, and this was his chance.

Payaso considered it a duty to take part in the war against the lions, and not just because she was a guard for the pack; her mother had been killed by a lion. If Payaso managed to kill a lion, it would balance the scales in her mind. She had wound up fighting with another guard, Mafuta, one she was fairly certain she had stood duty with once or twice. She was pretty tough looking, but just now, Payaso was more concerned with the grey lion snarling at them. Her own hackles went up as she started the cackling hyena laugh. She started moving toward the lion, low to the ground.

Mafuta's ears twitched as she bit back a laugh. Was this really all that the lions could send against her? Really? The great Mafuta'Mla? Haha, this would be easy! She dared to grin at the other hyena - Payaso, wasn't it? - who was fighting by her side, before launching herself at the gray lion, teeth bared. Aiming for the throat was all well and good, but he had a mane, which made that difficult - so instead she lunged for a leg.
A risky maneuver, to be sure, with clawed paws raised against her, but if she could just bring him down, then the killing blow would be easy and she could move on to another of the felines!

Suoh didn’t need to wait long before he saw the forms of two smaller hyenas advancing on him. So, this was it eh? Those husky looking things were going to pay. If any of them had hurt his parents, then they would pay with there lives! It was the more grayer of the two, that made the first attack. Weusi had always taught him to wait for the first move. Those who did that knew the fighting styles as brash, and could easily dodge when needed. However, she never did say anything when it came to a battle where you were placed two against one. The silver maned lion decided to ignore the black and white hyena for a moment, focusing all his attention on his current attack.
It happened as if in slow motion. The female hyena heading right for a leg. A brief smirk plastered against his maw as he waited, and waited, until her jaws were right near the legs, before a paw filled with sharp claws was swiped at her.
“Come on Filthy Beasts. Is that all you got?” Suoh taunted.
