~Tsukuyomi-no-Mikoto Shrine~

Located on the southern edge of the town on a small hill that overlooks the water is a shrine where the town gathers for celebrations including Tanabata, other summer festivals, and the New Year's gathering every single year. While tourists often visit the large, spacious shrine and take grab one of their 'highly successful' love fortunes when they are in town, most of the locals know it as a place where they can to go relax, pray to the gods and make an offering, or simply get away from things for a while. During celebrations, there are sometimes competitions as to which booth is the favorite of the local patrons, and the winning family or business earns bragging rights and the right to choose a theme for the next festival held there (if said Festival does not have a specific purpose already).

This year there are Tanabata, New Year's, Summer Fireworks, and several other festivals scheduled. More information will be added as time moves forward...

The cool breeze hit Himawari's wavy black hair as she calmly turned the page of her book. She was sitting on the stair close the shrine as this was where she found it most comfortable. putting her weight on the side of the wooden poles that would be normally found in the Japanese shrines before you head up the stairs to the actual shrine itself. Her book was full of suspense or at least where she has gotten to in the book. The brave knight swinging his sword around as if it just came to him naturally against the foul beast in a form of a dragon! The girl would stand up as if reenacting the moment with her head glued to the book! "Clang Cling!" The sound of the silver sword hitting the nails of the dragon! The story drew on as the knight would cut the tail of the beast in the first paragraph of the fight turning the battle into the knights favor! But alas the with the swipe of the dragons leg it kicked the knight! The knight flew into a stone wall to the castle the princess was in cheering the knight on as the knight fought the terrible creature. Himawari like so was on the ground imagining the pain of the knight against the wall as she got up slowly shaking off the pain. "Worry not my princess! I will not perish under thy beast! For thy shall vanquish this beast!" Wasn't the best phrase but it was cliche enough to get a girls heart pounding that's for sure! The battle rages on as the armor of the knight would break apart one by one as did the nails and scale of the dragon. By this point it wasn't looking too good for the knight, in the book it addressed his doubts of winning until a god like figure blessed him with holy armor and a typical sword and shield! "Thank you~!" The girl said out of text as she finished the battle with the feared dragon! The Fearless knight stabbed his sword through the beasts neck in a convenient time and the dragon fell of a cliff that happened to be there. "The princess was saved and they lived happily ever after" "That was surely adventurous and romantic! Suspenseful and dramatic!" The girl squealed hugging her book not knowing what time it was but she did have another book to finish reading so she can give a review for her class or at least when the assignment is given! The girl was awfully in love with the hero's chivalrous ways and his charm she just wanted to marry the prince instead of the princess but alas she wasn't a princess no matter how much she wished and don't get her wrong she's not into being a princess her self really... but if it was to meet a prince like him is truly worth it.

Noah steadily made his way to the top of the small hill and to the Tsukuyomi-no-Mikoto Shrine. Noah looked around and everything seemed normal for now but this is what he expected. The fun stuff probably happened at night, not just right after school, but Noah just came early so he wouldn't miss anything and so he could be the first on the scene. It was getting late so the tourists were starting to leave but there were still some here and there, nothing out of the ordinary. Noah looked around the shrine for a moment, checking under rocks and starring at carvings and objects for long periods of time with a pondering look before moving on to the next item, like a detective on a crime scene. Noah dind't really know what he was looking for, he just knew that he was looking..and if there was anything here worth looking for, he would find it eventually. He was obviously met with some blank stares and other puzzled stares but he dind't get this far in life by caring about what other people thought, so why start now? Besides, they will be sorry when they miss out on all the cool stuff that's happening at the shrine because they want to be 'normal' and actually come to a shrine to pray.

After awhile of searching, Noah decided to take a break and sat down nearby, keeping a watchful eye on the shrine and it's nearby surroundings, not wanting to miss anything peculiar. " And now we play the waiting game.." Noah said out loud, yet to himself. Referring to the fact that nothing had happened yet so he was going to sit until something interesting happened..he would wait all night if he had to because he didn't come all this way for nothing.

The rather eccentric Noah was followed in by a more calm, friendlier, Kazu. He spoke to the first tourist he saw, bowing and smiling gracefully as Noah rushed his way in, ignoring most. As Noah snooped around the shrine and investigated, checking behind and under stones and such, Kazu folded his hands and prayed for a moment, thanking for all that he has and all that he will have and for his abilities and loving family, asking for peace and happiness for all and all that other good stuff. Once done, Kazu bowed and then turned and looked around for a moment before spotting Noah sitting down and watchign like a hawk waiting for soemthing out of the ordinary to pop out so he could swoop in and snatch it..or whatever he planned to do if something actually DID happen. Kazu merely smiled and walked over to the watchful Noah and sat down next to him, willing to wait until late as well, not too late though, because he would rather sleep in his nice bed in his wonderful home then on the rough ground of the shrine. And so they played this 'waiting game' tha tNoah called it. Good thing Kazu was patient, because this seemed like it was going to take forever.

Shirokidan... It was true that both schools had a huge rivalry going on between them, and that many (or better to say the vast majority) of the students in Oshu disliked the Guppies, but...the girl couldn't really understand why some kept such negative thoughts and feelings for one another. Both schools were doing what they needed to do, have sports clubs, the two teams competing against each other...and well...this wasn't just merely healthy competition. And sure both towns were different...while the White Palace was fancier and its students were of...a more accommodated status (spoiled like she had heard people say), Oshu was...more urban. Punks they've been called before. But... all that was needed to do was to understand one another and do your best, right? Perhaps it was just hopeful thinking, but Suzu knew that someday the dislike between towns, specifically schools, would dissipate. Her gaze shifted away from the white buildings they were walking away from, and returning to the road ahead of them. They had been walking for a while, mostly in silence. It was rare for the girl to be this quiet, but maybe she was just tired and her system was shutting down after that overdose of sugar.

The small frown changed to a grin not long after though, her brown eyes noting the shrine coming into view not so far away. So...no. It wasn't all that pudding that got her quiet. But, that wasn't important...not for the girl, anyway. "Oh wow! The Tsukuyomi-no-Mikoto Shrine! It's so big! Oh! Oh! Can we stop there for a moment? I've always wanted to see what my fortune will say. I've heard they tend to be accurate." Yeeep...same energy back again. Without stopping to listen to an answer, the girl was already sprinting ahead and up the stairs to the shrine dedicated to the Moon Goddess. A small awed breath escaped the girl as she stopped, gazing at the beautiful structures, keeping her still just for a brief moment, before the hurricane began moving again, looking at this or that, curious eyes glimmering. "There are some rumors as well..." the girl continued, almost as if sure that this would at least interest Sai more than some crappy fortunes. "You know, about the creepy stories that supposedly happen around here...I thought they were just inventions when I heard about them back home, but... it really seem like there've been people disappearing. B-but...." Now that she thought about it...perhaps it wasn't such a good idea to stay here for long. Just get her fortune...and then go somewhere else, right? "I...I don't really believe it. Do you, Sai?"

User ImageHer excitement would have probably been contagious if it was anybody other than her present company; as it were, Sai simply wasn't arguing that the Shrine seemed to be where the girl wanted to go and spend the rest of the time that they had in this soft resort hovel before they went back home to the city. It was convenient, since that was the destination that he had chosen to come see from the moment that they had left the restaurant earlier. He had heard the rumors...and while he didn't buy into any of the supernatural rubbish that the students and old ladies on the streets were gossiping about, it didn't mean that there wasn't something unusual going on in that place. Something that he wanted to explore for himself...for what purpose, only he knew, but he didn't seem interested in talking about it...nor was Suzu likely to ask, distracted as she was. His crimson eye watched her as she skipped up the stairs ahead of him, leaving him in the dust. He had no intention of running after her, content to follow at his own measured pace until he was soon most of the way up the stairs, still watching as the whirlwind of energy moved about the front of the shrine looking at the different displays. The Inari Sushi, the offering box, the fortune booth; he was sure that with the way she was, she would want to try out every single one of them if she could. It was rare that they got to come to a shrine like this one, all the way out here in the sticks (compared to the city, at least). Somehow, the reclusive setting at the far edge of the resort town near the beach gave the shrine a sort of rustic feel...less touched by modern influences, older, more traditional and thereby, more powerful and authentic. Sai understood instantly the logic in having this shrine out here, why they never moved it somewhere else in the city where people could have better access to its many services. It was also the reason that so many of these ridiculous rumors about the supernatural tended to spring up around it. These disappearances weren't the first ghost story to crop up around the Tsukuyomi-no-Mikoto Shrine, and they were definitely not going to be the last. Had he any doubt that they were as fraudulent as the last ones and the ones before that, he wouldn't have brought Suzume out here with him to see it...of course, the rumors were also only supposed to be happening at night. Which wasn't for a bit longer, anyway. He was sure they were safe, and he thought as much as he reached the top of the steps, immediately making a bee-line for the Fortune Booth that Suzume had seemed so interested in when she started gushing at the bottom of the stairs. Calmly, he pulled out a small, folded piece of paper attached to a charm on a string...not quite missing the word 'Love' written on the back...but also, not quite caring. Was this what she really wanted to come out here and see?

He opened the piece of paper with his forefinger and thumb and read it...and suppressed the urge to sigh. Who would believe this sort of thing, anyway?

'Best Luck! Your love is very near to you! Perhaps closer than you think.'

He spared a glance over at Suzume, her brown hair caught in the breeze, that happy, serene sort of smile on her face that gave her a youthful glow. Stoically, he folded the piece of paper back over itself and kept it in his palm...then, moving across the distance between he and his only companion, he waited until she had returned her attention to him and extended his hand, dropping the little slip of paper inside of her slender fingers.

"Here, take this. Maybe it would be of some use to you," his voice was deep and unmoved as ever, his disenchantment with the small fortune not thick, but evident in his tone. He wasn't here for the fortunes or to say a prayer or anything of the sort, and dilly-dallying around wasn't getting him anywhere that he wanted to go, really. Suzu could enjoy the Shrine to her heart's content for now, but as for Sai, he wanted to know more about these rumors. If something strange was going on down there, there was bound to be a clue as to why these rumors got started somewhere around here. His red eye shifted towards the expanse of the Shrine's grounds, seeing nothing out of place or particularly eye-catching...not even a footprint off the beaten path, probably because most shrine-goers were fearful of the rumors these days. Vaguely, in the back of his mind he could hear Suzume's questions about the rumors that were going on, but he wasn't about to perpetuate something like that and make her worry any more than she probably was. She had never been very good with scary situations, after all, and a haunted shrine was likely to climb towards the top of the list of things that made her fret the moment he made her think he believed in those stupid ghost stories. Which he didn't, mind you. ...What he did believe in, however, were cold hard facts. Two people had gone missing in this area the night before...whether it was a runaway, a kidnapping, or worse...there had to be signs. Idly, he remembered something being said about the beach area; taking note, he glanced over his shoulder at the upbeat girl with her sudden nerves showing. There were many ways he could handle this now...telling her he didn't believe in such things, leaving and departing the scene swiftly, or...whatever else there was. He considered the options and made his choice. ...If any of the rumors or stories she referenced bothered him, they didn't show on his scarred, pale visage when he turned back around to her, the sun reflecting from his skin. His crimson eye seemed brighter, his lips thin, when he uttered a few words to her that would hopefully end the matter and set her back to her carefree exploration...so he could get on with his own much less-carefree manner of investigation.

"It doesn't matter if they are true or false, or if the Devil himself is haunting this shrine" he assured her sternly, his voice not exactly comforting...but certain, confident, as if not leaving a single inch for doubt to creep into the discussion, which, while certainly sounding cold, might have also been slightly...comforting...slightly...maybe, "nothing would dare try to harm you while I'm here, Suzume. Now hurry up, and be quiet... forget those rumors before you get on my nerves."

Big, brown eyes shifted away from the offertory box and back to the stern, crimson eye that stared down at her, blinking just a little puzzled at the small paper that was dropped in her hands and the words that came afterwards. A soft smile creased her lips a moment after, followed by a giggle, the girl not taking long to understand that Sai had gone and taken a fortune charm for her. Right! She was distracted by everything else in the shrine that she hadn't gone to the right booth to get what she wanted since the beginning. Eyes turned to the neatly folded paper, gazing at it expectantly, all the different outcomes coming up inside of her mind. Worst luck...Best luck. She wondered what would she get. She took the paper between her fingers, opening it slowly as she kept her eyes tightly closed, almost as if childishly afraid of what the paper might say. The short haired girl opened one eye, reading the fortune's words. "..." Her Love. Near to her? 'Closer than you think'... "Uwa! Did you see that, Sai? Best luck!" The girl hopped on her place, almost as in victory for the great luck she supposedly would have, her sight moving around the shrine, looking at the people there, almost as if she were searching for someone. She saw the two sitting down on a bench, some of the tourists by the Inari Sushi, and some others getting fortunes as well. "I wonder how close-"

Her gaze landed on her companion at last, the ball of energy placating for a short moment. He was always so kind to her, always protecting her from anything and everything. Ever since they met...he had always been there... even if he believed it was nothing. "A-ah!" Suzume snapped away from the thoughts what tangled inside of her mind, fortunes, rumors, ghost stories... everything was shoved to the back of her mind when her violet haired companion began talking again, reassuring that same thoughts about him inside of her mind. A softer smile replaced the silly air she always carried with her, giving a strong nod. "That sounds so coool, Sai. You are so niiice!" Yeah, perhaps his voice wasn't the most comforting one out there, and it wasn't the best choice of words (the girl actually managed to shudder at the sound of 'the Devil himself'), but the meaning behind it all was all that matter. In a swift movement, the girl had already stepped closer, wrapping her arms around the taller figure. Self conservation? What was that? But well... she wasn't thinking...and the thought of Sai ever doing something to hurt her would never, NEVER cross her mind...ever. "I'll try my best not to cause you so much trouble!"

User ImageHe hadn't even thought about it when he slid the little slip of paper into the fingers of his constant companion, nor did he consider the implications of handing a love charm to a member of the opposite sex so casually. Such things just weren't at the forefront of the mind of the man called 'Sakurazukamori'; what did catch his attention was the excited reaction that the girl had at the 'Best Luck' fortune which she had read off the slip of paper and the boundless energy that had her considering just what the paper might have meant. His gaze, however, turned back to the shrine before her brown-eyed stare fell upon him, and as he rattled off his thoughts on the ghost stories and sensed the trepidation in Suzume as she thought more and more about them, he was satisfied that her mood seemed to be returning more to the happy, hopeful manner that he was used to dealing with. After all, while dealing with the bouncing, excitable girl might have been somewhat taxing for a guy like him who preferred the thoughtful silence...the last thing he could stomach was seeing someone so naturally bright as her in a darker mood such as fear, or worst of all...sadness. Maybe it had something to do with the way that they met? Though he never talked about it, or even gave any indication that he remembered what he had done for Suzu that day at the hospital, when her brother's injury had brought her to tears in the waiting room...when he had seen her with his face covered in bandages save that one, sentinel-like eye of his...when he had spoken to her and calmed her down, whatever had been motivating him to step out of his dark life and extend that hand that day. Perhaps somewhere inside of him, subconsciously, he still remembered it...or maybe he was just the type who couldn't stand to see any girl cry. Not that such a thing suited him, but you never knew. Sai Sakurazaka was a mystery wrapped in an enigma, or so he liked people to think. The less they knew about him, the more he could influence them with his hard stares, his uncanny talent, his strength and intelligence and all the things that made him a formidable foe to anger. He liked it that way. ...For everybody but Suzume, it seemed. Though he would shut you down faster than it took to say, 'No.' if you said that to him.

It was perhaps for that reason that he didn't react with the same violence one might have normally expected of him when the girl reacted much more warmly to his cold declaration (more of a statement of fact...that nobody would seriously dare to attack his companion while he was there to stop them...than anything else...or at least he that's what he told himself) than he expected. Her gushing that he was nice nearly put a bad taste in his mouth, but he tried to ignore the way that it made him feel...reasoning that it was the weakening of his image that made him feel uncomfortable with her attributing such a title to a guy like him. That part wasn't hard; he had always been cold, not particularly personable, for as long as anybody could remember him. That was his image, one he had been given with or without his consent, but now that it was his he owned it properly...enjoyed the solitude that it offered him. Except...that with Suzume, it never quite worked the way that he intended. He couldn't get rid of her and he didn't want to, preferring to keep her within eyesight so that if anything should happen to her he would be the first to know and the first to protect her. Silly girl was so oblivious sometimes, she didn't even realize she needed protecting. And that was why he was...no, he stopped that train of thought before it got going. Or he would have, if the sudden hug from behind hadn't taken him by surprise. It was almost uncanny the way that he could sense danger when it was near to him, how few people he had ever been attacked by had ever even managed to scrape his pristine skin before he sensed and countered them, but this girl...she brought his guard down and slipped right past his net before he knew what she was doing. And now she was hugging him. A foreign feeling, one which sent a heat to his head and body that he immediately misinterpreted. Raising his arms, he tried to twist his body to face her, and his elegant words almost sputtered a bit as he tried to tell her to release him. "Su-zu-meee," his even voice wasn't exactly loud or surprised, but closer to annoyed...but far less annoyed than usual, even just a little bit soft...or maybe that was just her imagination, maybe. His hands found her shoulders finally and once his strong fingers had a grip, he intended to move her away from his body only...he didn't, not right away, at least. His instinct to shove away any person clinging to his body so closely was overridden by his instinct to protect Suzume, knowing somewhere inside of him that she meant well and this wasn't...that...bad...oh, who was he kidding?! "That's enough, Suzume," his stern voice finally grumbled, gently separating her from his body without shoving her away...a big step forward from the reaction he would have had for anybody else, for certain...before he immediately turned his body and gaze away from her as if purposefully avoiding her eyes...that beaming smile he knew would be there...any little bit of her warmth that might start to melt him. Like that would ever happen, right?

"Finish looking around so we can leave," he added after a beat, starting a slow walk towards the steps on the left side of the Shrine nearest to the beach, red eye glancing down towards the sand as he examined it...instantly putting his mind back to work on the disappearances to replace anything else that might have foolishly gotten in there just now. He didn't intend to leave this place with nothing...and he was certain Suzu would be entertained for at least a little longer, so he would have a chance to look near the water. Probably. "I'll be over here," he told her as he started down the steps towards the white grains of sand, "just call me if you need me."

Noah watched and saw a lot of people come and go from the shrine. Many of them not looking all to suspicious while others looking very suspicious. One of those very suspicious people was the strange man with the eyepatch. There was nothing else really all the strange about him..just the eyepatch and obviously only evil people wore eyepatches. So he must have something to do with the disappearances..or in fact..be the one abducting them. Noah skillfully listened and watched the eyepatch man and his accomplice as he pulled out his journal, quickly flipping until finding a new page before drawing two quick sketches of the two. Noah was blessed with many artistic talents, one being drawling, they weren't perfectly drawn beautiful works of art, but they were drawn well enough to recognize a person after looking at them.

Noah listened to the girl address the man as 'Sai' so he wrote 'seye' under the man's picture and then followed by writing 'suzume' under the girl's picture. "Hmm..Kazu..keep an eye on them" Noah said as he nudged Kazuma with his elbow to get his attention. Noah saw the man walking off and Noah would obviously look suspicious following them around so he told Kazuma to do it who obviously came off allot more oblivious and inconspicuous than Noah.

Kazu was half way into dream-land and half way in reality as he slowly dozed off and then quickly woke back up. His head slowly falling then snapping back up just to start falling again. Just as Kazu was finally about to completely pass into the land of dreams, he was nudged by noah's elbow which made him quickly snap back into it and wipe the drool form his chin. He awoke just in time for Noah to tell him to 'keep an eye' on two people in the shrine. Kazu was not awake long enough to see them come in or what they had done up to this point but he was willing to help Noah any way he could. Besides, the one with the eye patch did look pretty mysterious. Not just the eye patch but his whole facial expression and the rather cold tone of his voice. He seemed like he had a bad day, but how he spoke to the woman and acted towards her and how she reacted to it like it was nothing sort of implied that he is usually like this which Kazu couldn't really understand.

As Kazu was told to keep an eye on the two, his eyes widened and he stood for a moment looking at Noah as if he were crazy. How could Kazu possibly follow behind two people without them knowing? But Kazu was never one to back down form a request so he just sucked it up and gave Noah a thumbs up before casually strolling off behind the eye patched boy. Kazu kept a distance of about 10 yards and tried to look as casual as possible, tightly holding onto the strap of the tall bag which sat on his back. Inside the bag being his wooden katana..oh what Kazu wouldn't do to just be in kendo right now instead of stalking two random people. But Kazu's oblivious smile remained nonetheless.

There was nothing wrong in hugging a friend, right? Specially if she was showing just how grateful she was for the words of comfort she had just received. Others though...would have noticed the 'Don't mess with me' sign over the violet haired guy's head, and would pay attention to it. No need to get on the bad side of the Yakuza-looking man over there. All these signs went unnoticed by the girl... They had stopped making any sense a long time ago...or perhaps they never meant anything to her. And perhaps that was why she did nothing to move away from her companion as his body stiffened and the dangerous words slipped from his lips, nor did she cower back when his fingers took hold of her shoulders and pushed her away from him. And as he expected, she just smiled, apparently satisfied with her previous action and not bothered at all (or even noticed that he had just moved her away as if the hug burned his skin) by the reaction. Even if Suzu was mostly known for her obliviousness, she usually notice the tiny, almost invisible, changes in his voice, and that her actions...or her presence as a whole didn't bother him as much as it looked like. Or...perhaps she was just too hopeful. She didn't want to be a bother, after all.

"Okay! I'll be over there!" Suzu answered with an energetic nod, turning around to the opposite direction to where Sai was headed to, skipping towards the Inari Sushi at the other side of the shrine. The girl stopped in mid-step though, almost as if just remembering something she really really needed to tell her companion. Once again, she turned with a twirl, running towards the steps near to the beach. "Oh! Sai, can we-" She hadn't taken more than three steps when a little 'eep!' cut her sentence short, having bumped against the dark haired student assigned to stalk the violet haired man. Losing her balance, Suzume fell with a muffled thud to the ground, confused eyes shifting to the figure standing in front of her, almost as if questioning herself what had happened, with what she had just crashed against and ...just how hadn't she noticed him before. "Ooooow~" she mumbled sheepishly, rubbing her backside before standing up with a jump, bowing down in front of the boy. "I am sorry! I...I wasn't paying much attention and...and... Are you okay?"

User ImageAs content as he might have been to see Suzume as happy as she was milling about the shrine, looking at this thing or that thing, there was still a purpose for which her ever-serious companion had come out to this location in particular at the end of his journey about Iwadate. Finally seeing her distracted by the Inari Sushi and the other attractions that the shrine offered, he continued down the beach-side stairs until his feet touched the grains of sand and felt them give way to either side; not far behind him, he could feel the surreptitious approach of something...someone, perhaps, and it was only after he had walked far enough away that he was sure Suzume would not see them that he turned his head to look back at him. Only it seemed that whoever it had been that was watching him was gone now, or had been interrupted; if it was Suzume he only hoped that she would be careful, and call out to him if any of their intentions began to turn ill. He would only be down here a few moments, his crimson eyes searching for something, anything that might give him a clue towards the questions that he wanted answered. One lingering footprint, a drop of blood on the white sands, or a path...moving in measured steps towards the water, isolated from the eyes of anyone in the area, he continued forward until his feet at last stood upon the brink of the water and looked out across the waves. Somewhere in the back of his mind he felt...unsettled, as though there were something right under his nose that he wasn't seeing, something that he needed to catch in order for all of this to make sense. He could see in the distance that the sun was already threatening to dip lower, the brightness of the sky lessening (a good thing for Suzume, who would have burned again before long), leaving him with questions and few answers. There was nothing here...nothing that would confirm or deny his suspicions. no matter how many times he combed over the sands here, unless he had more time he would likely never find anything incriminating. His deep voice hummed in a muffled curse; it was time to go, couldn't leave Suzume up there long or she might hurt herself...or worse. And it was just as that thought spurred him to start turning around that he took one last look over his shoulder and caught a glimpse of something...different...something...black?

His crimson eye widened suddenly and he turned around, staring straight out into the ocean where his eye locked onto that...color, that thing, whatever it was. Stepping out into the sands, his voice made to call out to whatever it was...was it a creature at all?...but all of a sudden, the words seemed stolen away from him. He couldn't cry out...he couldn't speak! His body wouldn't move and he felt with some growing frustration a tug upon his body that would not let him go...would not release...just what in the Hell was going on here?! "S-Su..." he choked, the breath stealing out of his body when his will began to free his lips from the power's hold...and though he strained with all his might he could feel his feet tugging him forward towards that thing...that black...thing in the water...and those eerie, crimson...'Eyes?!'

Suddenly, and without warning, his body was pulled forth as though tugged by a harpoon and a rope, and the water claimed him utterly as he disappeared beneath the salty tide with a loud splash.

'SPLASH!' The brunette turned her head towards the loud splashing noise, her head tilting slightly questioning. "Did you hear that?" she said outloud, mostly to herself, before returning to look at Kazu with a sheepish grin and apologetic eyes. She frowned though, something inside of her making her very uneasy. She could swear she had heard the familiar deep voice...if only for a split moment before the splash...N-nothing had happened to Sai, right? No! How could she be saying that? Sai was strong! He can fight against anything! "Um...My friend was over there... And, and I need to go. Bye! And sorry for bumping with you, again!" Without any further explanation to the dark haired boy, Suzu ran to the opposite side of the shrine, following to where Sai had strolled to a few moments earlier. She ran down the stairs, expecting to see the violet haired man standing there, probably scowling at her for her loud and rushed movements, but...nothing. Only the white sand, the coming and going of the waves... the sun lowering at the distance. "S-sai? I thought I heard something and..." the girl trailed off as she stepped on the grains of sand, feeling how her feet slightly sunk with each step. "Saaai? S-stop hiding! It's not funny!"

Hesitant steps took her to the brink of the water, eyes gazing at the sea in front of her, no signs of movement giving away that a person had been there a little while ago. "Heey!" She called out again, nervousness creeping and mixing with her tone. Just where he had gone to? He wouldn't have left her alone and left...just like that, right? And as much as the girl tried telling herself that nothing had happened, that he had walked a little further away, but would return in no time... the rumors poping inside of her mind in that instant did nothing to keep her positive nature afloat. The girl keep walking, eyes always attentive to signs of movements, ears always waiting for the most minimun sound. He was fine...He was fine.

User ImageThere was silence by the water and beneath the failing light when Suzume made her way down the stairs in search of her missing companion; waves rolled in gently, pushed in and out by the ebb and flow of the tides. Only the gentle crashing of waves served to break the stifling, choking monotony of her wait, and just when it seemed like things were too quiet, too calm, and that Sai might never return from wherever he had been spirited off to...she was forced to wait even longer. Seconds stretched out until a minute or two had passed and the white clouds rolling by slowly overhead seemed to stretch out forever in the distance. No traces of what had peeked out moments earlier remained for the girl to see, and the last of the footsteps which lead down to the edge of the water were washing away with each cool lapping of the salty waters. He was gone, without a trace...and though the girl might have tried to suppress the thoughts there was the inevitable knowledge of the recent incidents and kidnappings for her to dwell on when she thought of where he might have been taken off to. No footprints in either direction signaled that he had gone down the beach and simply not come back...and the open area for her to look for him stretched on for some distance in either direction. It wasn't funny, whatever it was that had taken place here only moments earlier, and if she knew Sai half as well as she thought she did (better than anybody else to be sure) then she would know he would never tease her in such a tasteless fashion...if he teased her at all. There could only be one conclusion, but one would shudder to think it. Sai Sakurazaka, her capable and intimidating companion, had been somehow taken away from this place...and no matter which direction she looked, there was no hint as to which way, what manner, or by whom it might have been that he was taken.

At least, until the crystalline water began to shimmer like something out of a monster movie right before her eyes. It was red, like the crimson eye of a leviathan, and the sky above seemed to slowly darken...like some supernatural incident taken straight out of the images of a Hollywood movie, Suzu's eyes would inevitably fall upon this strange scene. But this time, there was nobody there to shake her, to touch her shoulder and tell her things would be all right, and Sai...comforting, capable Sai...was nowhere to be found.

*THUMP THUMP*

A heartbeat rang in her ears, almost as though it were only for her...

*THUMP THUMP*

It sounded again, louder this time...more insistent...and suddenly it was as though it were calling out to her, drawing her just a little bit closer to the water. Like a voice inside of her head...like the insistent song of a siren.

*THUMP THUMP THUUUUUMP!*

...

"Suzume!" a deep, smooth voice rang in the girl's ear...and then suddenly, all the little sounds and noises that had been plaguing her were gone. And in their place, standing beside her in an instant as though he had been there all along, was none other than the one she had come here with in the first place. No black sky...no red sea...no heartbeat ringing inside of her ears or siren song drawing her towards the salty water. Only Sai, his crimson eye looking down at her with that same piercing look as always, though perhaps a shade brighter than normal...perhaps a hint of concern creeping in that even his usually-dour expressions couldn't fully mask. His hand was on her shoulder, turning her slightly to face him just then, his expression studying the vacant look that had somehow crawled upon her face. "I've been calling for you...what's the matter?" He watched her as if waiting for some indication of what troubled her, but no doubt she was still puzzling together what had happened. No footsteps littered the ground even now as evidence of where he had gone, and his clothes were not wet, as though he had been standing in the water. He was just...there again, standing beside her, watching over her.

...Was it really possible that everything that just happened was some sort of a bad daydream for her? Was it...or...?

Kazuma Tenkyuu
"Kazu"

Kazu's little tailing mission was going well, or he thought it was. He was a little sloppy but its not like he was tailing some top secret agent..or was he? Just as Kazu was about to follow Sai towards the water, he was bumped into by the girl that the man was with. He watched the girl fall and apologize but Kazu was so shocked about the bumping into and because he was a little dumb when it came to things like this, he was left with a loss for words for a few moments. Just as Kazu was about to reply, a loud splash was heard and the girl ran off, thinking the same as Kazu, that something happened to her friend. Kazu quickly slipped the bag off his shoudler and took out the wooden katana, not knwoing exactly what happened but thinking it was bad. "Ah, uh, bu-, Noah!" Kazu yelled as he then ran off into the direction of the girl and the eye patched man. Just as he hit the steps, he fell a little but quickly regained his balance and continued on.

Kazu arrived shortly after the girl, he hadn't been there to witness the whole slow clouds and didfferent colored sky but he arrived in time to see the girl and the guy standing near eachother and Kazu quickly let out a sigh of relief. "geeze..at least there ok" Kazu said out loud, hoping that noah was nearby to hear it so he dind't break his neck running down the steps like Kazu almost did. Kazuma was surprised that the eyepatched man seemed so worried and caring while before he seemed like the person who would hide such feelings but Kazu wasn't the best of detectives so he just wrote it off..plus..he didn't really know either one of them to know how they acted.
