The list is a bit of a long one (I have really high expectations) but I'd like to know what you think a good RPer is/does.
+ High literacy rate (always in 3rd person, uses correct punctuation and capital letters, tries to keep spelling up to par) + Characters have interesting back stories and/or unique personalities + Posts are at least 4 sentences long + Posts include character's thoughts and/or emotions + Never lurks (i.e. has their character wait around until someone else initiates the action) + Doesn't go out of their way looking for romance + Can create plotlines as well as go along with plotlines someone else creates + Allows their character to have realistic reactions (look shocked, be hit by an enemy) + Can create villains people genuinely hate + Unafraid to branch out (i.e. leave one plotline to go to another) + Gets genuinely excited when someone posts on the RP + Posts on the thread often
I may add more later as I think of them. What are your thoughts? Expectations too high? Where do you land in all this nonsense?

From all this, I think I do well! We need a disclaimer though. Lacking some of these traits is not grounds for banning or demoting.... well, maybe demoting. My point is, we'll only ban you if you are a TERRIBLE RPer. We're pretty lenient, but we have our limmits. Nefret, I think you made several good points. I could probably make more, but at the moment lack the concentration to do so.

Oh no! I might get demoted for spelling and grammar gonk .... oh yeah..right. If you really want a basis for bare minimum on Rping, just check out a few of my posts. I think as far as grammar and spelling go mine would be just short of dispicable. If you manage to spot an error in my RPing then you should be just fine.
I would definitely agree with Nefret when it comes to the list she has made, especially on the lurking, as well as the minimum 4 sentance post. I would also like to add my own RPer qualities, though these are more opptional than others.
+ Uses discriptive details (If another is confused about the composition of the environment, it may lead to mistakes in the following posts) + Avoids tag along plots ( Make it something original, not just a story that jumps aboard with the posting hot spot and simply reacts) + Lacks in over conviniance, you do not have every thing you need, the only exceptions are true coincidents such as 60 posts back you wrote that you had an extra pair of boots, then later someone's shoe's get slashed to bits.
I had one other, and I'm sure there are more, but I cant recall anything else not mentioned here. On a side note, do not let this list scare you. If you read it, the list does not ask too terrably much, and tends to be more of a guide to better RPing than a rule book.

For clarification, I'm going to give an example of what I think you're talking about and you tell me if I'm wrong or not. "Oh no, I lost my coat!" "Here, I have an extra." "We're lost." "Nope. I have a map of this entire country." Is that what you're talking about? Because that bugs me as well. You're trying to create a conflict (which every story needs, or else there is no story) and someone comes along and magically fixes it, therefore ruining the plotline. That's what I call the Warner Brothers effect. In cartoons, the characters pull out random convenient objects from behind their backs, when they clearly have no pockets.
