I do hope you're reading this before making your own diary, this explains all about them.
Now, when you first make your diary, it is not necessary to say your name, how old you are, or anything like that. That sort of information should already be in the pensieve, on your profile. Perhaps you should give a quick overview of who you are, though, just because new members may be reading this.
You can write your diary in the third or first person, it doesn't really matter, though most people will probably write saying " Today I went to Hogsmeade" rather than "Today Lillian went to Hogsmeade". It just makes more sense if you use the first example.
You are allowed to write about your real life issues if you wish, but please be sure to write about your guild life as well. If your diary is just all about your boyfriends or girlfriends at school, you complaning about not having a date to prom or something, the I will message you and warn you the first few times, then I will delete your diary. It's not to be harsh, I just don't think it's necessary or relevant to the guild. I still want these diaries to be relevant to the guild, you can write about real life, but just in small amounts when you need to.
No one but you can post in your diary, just like no one but you can post in your profile. Summer homes are different from this because that forum wil literally be like your house, with other people visiting. For example, I will be posting in all Hogwarts students houses, or maybe my vice will be, around July, to give you your booklists. I would not do this in your diary.
Don't write anything if you don't want it used against you, because it may be. Remember how in the Harry Potter books, Draco was always making fun of Harry for things he never said in those Rita Skeeter articles? 4th book? I would hope no one does, but Slytherins can and very well may use something against you if they see it. After all, everyone can read the diaries, this is not a private forum. Don't post anything if you don't want anyone to know it, simple as that.
Well, I hope you enjoy the diaries, but remember that classes and homework comes first!
