It was midday in the Pridelands, and although the hot sun beat down on the earth with all it’s power on this clear, cloudless day, nothing could put a damper on Bakari’Sai’s gusto. The young lion, determined to keep a watch for danger while many of the others were snoozing in the shade, had set himself up a proper post to scan the surrounding savannah for the approach of any enemy. He’d found a small outcropping of rock and was perched at it’s very top. So, while he was almost panting from the heat, he could indeed see in all directions… and so far, there was nothing but dry grass to be seen. Sai yawned, realizing that right around now was his customary naptime. He couldn’t let his guard down though… what if someone tried to sneak up on him? Quickly, he glanced around; not a soul to be seen, but that didn’t mean someone couldn’t be hiding in the grass. His tail twitched suspiciously, and he narrowed his eyes, trying to see through the glare of the sun.
True, this wasn’t his idea of a fun time, but then, wouldn’t he be sorry if he was napping and something happened? If he missed it, it would be a missed opportunity to show everyone how great he was!
