As some of you may know, there are some severe floods a few hours away from where I live. I am safe and well but the flooding is still very severe. If you'd like to take a look at some of what's going on without checking out the world news I'll post a link below that was posted on YouTube. I'll be sure to keep you all updated on anything that would change regarding my safety. This is awful as it will take quite some time for the area to recover fully. If there are any questions about this then please feel free to mail me and I'll reply as soon as I'm able to. Flood Footage

Having experienced Australian style floods before, I can honestly say that I was surprised the initial death toll wasn't higher. Floods down there can hit before you even realize what's coming. My sympathies to those that found themselves in this things path.
And just for the sake of mentioning it to those that have never been in a flood, in the video that Sakura linked to, that guy who went after his truck was damn lucky. Cars washing away all round him, and he decides to try and rescue his truck. Sure it was a rover with a snorkel, but no land vehicle was ever designed for the powers of flood waters. Stay away from fast moving waters kiddos. It's just not worth it.

I'm sure, without looking, that my flood wasn't as bad as those, but as an impoverished illustrator, one who works with paper and has little non-floor-based storage space and no money to replace expensive supplies (to say nothing of years of work), the half-foot of water that I woke up to was still severely devastating. My heart goes out to those effected.
