~ Race ~
The height of the rank doesn't mean the strength of the being. It's just the rarity of the being. The better of an RPer you are, the more likely you are to get one of these. If you make up your own, it has to be reasonable. There are two big branches of race;

Darkness Demon - A creature that dwells as some sort of darkness. Many forms branch out from this, including shadow demons, possession demons, trinkets and chaos demons. A Nightmare demon is the highest form of these, but a Nightmare demon is ruled by Hypnos, the God of sleep while all other darkness demons are ruled by the kingdom of darkness.

Light Demon - A creature that lives in pure daylight and uses the light to their benefit. Certain phantoms are light demons, as well as certain trinkets. Muses are light creatures, as well as most animal creatures. These creatures are often ruled by the kingdom of light.

Then there are different races. (This is where you find your race.) Along with being either darkness or light, each person usually has an element they are ruled under; Earth, wind, water or fire. Each of these elements are ruled by directions. Earth=West, Fire=East, Wind=South and Water=North.

Rarest Race:

(Light) Absolute Light - Jeremy Hughes is the only known one left alive. They are also known as fallen angels, and the only creature with the ability to bring people back to life. They are immortal, stopping at the age where their powers are the most developed. They cannot lie, and they sense lies. They cannot sin in any way. After they've mated, they gain wings, but lose their immortality, aging normally from where they stopped. Women tend to mature before men, making them usually younger. Origin is Ackrland.

(Light or Dark) God - Created by belief, they can be Norse Gods, Greek Gods, etc. Examples would be Dionysus, Hypnos and Thanatos. They dwell in Dreamland.

(Neither) Neutral Creature - These creatures are rare. Humans are usually neutral, but a neutral creature is a sort of human that's mastered the art of making all powers around them nullified. The setback about being a neutral creature is to be completely powerless yourself. But on the bright side, no powers can harm you. Origin is Torusa.

Rare Race:

(Dark) Nightmare Demon - Literally your worst nightmare. The role of a Nightmare demon is to feed on the weaknesses of other creatures. Humans are the most common target, though they can range, and the power is the same for most other creatures. A Nightmare demon doesn't have to sleep or eat. They get their energy from the fears, sadness, hatred and anger of others. It's nearly impossible to stand up to this creature, as it can drive someone mad if they chose to. Their mere presence strikes a feeling of pure terror in the hearts of most people. The only exception being people who are pure of heart. One can be as dark and sinister as they want, but it only makes a Nightmare demon stronger. Those that can weaken a Nightmare demon the most are people that are absolutely pure of heart. Origin is Dreamland.

(Light) Invisibility - A creature with the gift of invisibility. Unless one is a Phantom such as Peng, invisibility is all one could do. However, they are descended from the greatest warrior known to all readers of legends, so those that tend to be invisible also tend to be very stealthy and brave, like the warrior Feio. Origin is Atlantis.

(Dark) Zombie - After goes soul is taken all the way to the afterlife, one is considered a zombie if the soul goes back to the living world. In order for this to happen, one would have to have made a deal with the afterlife Gods and had means to attach the soul to another organism. This is unlike a Phantom or a possession demon. And also different from a trinket.

(Light or Dark) Elemental (Multiple Elements) - An elemental of many elements is a sort of faye creature that was born from a single element. As they mature, the other four elements are learned, and they get stronger. Strange weather patterns is usually their doing. However, after Atlantis, these creatures are a rarity, if found at all. Most of them sank to the core of Harganoph. Origin is Atlantis.

(Dark) Brute - Closest faye to a human, though still with pointed ears. They have immense muscle, and they are super strong. Most, if not all, died during the first wave of the great flood of Atlantis. They are always looking for a challenge and get an animalistic pleasure in killing their prey. Origin is Atlantis.

Intermediate Race:

(Light) Muse - Unlike most light creatures, Muses are led by a muse council. Evolutions of Elementals, they usually have one special trait that they are best at. A muse cannot think for themselves. It is either the councils decision or a partner's decision. A Muse may only have one partner, and their power is to enhance the abilities of their partner. In return, the partner takes care of their Muse, and punishment for not doing so is withdrawl of their natural talents. (Here's the source of writer's block! >.< ) A muse must mate with a muse, their is no cross-breeding. And if there is, and done successfully, then they are the worst sort of hybrids and hunted down by the Order. The worst sort of hybrid is a muse and a human. The muse council is found on an isolated island in Curtesia.

(Light) Shape Shifter - The ability to change is a great asset to have. There are three types of shape shifters. One can either be an animoprh, which can change into any animal organism (Including other people), a biomorph, which changes into plants, or a bimorph, which can do both. Many creatures can change shape, but to be able to do so of any specimen naturally through DNA is what it takes to be a shape shifter. However, the greatest weakness is a certain trait in the body. Scars pass the same from form to form, as does hair color. Most are found in Curtesia.

(Light or Dark) Trinket - Trinkets are souls that were taken to the underworld, but a piece of the soul kept part of them in the living world. As such, their soul is bound into a material thing, and cannot be released until the trinket their soul is attached to is passed to the one destined to have it. Only after the prophecy of the person is fulfilled can one be completely at peace in the underworld. There is a second breed of trinkets, the darker sort, that have been sent into a trinket through a curse and can only escape after a destined person lifts the curse. Often times however, this takes many years. Curses are set for many reasons; to prevent the death of the person, to lock away immense power, or through the idea of a written prophecy, however false it may be. Most trinkets are found in Ackrland.

(Light or Dark) Sorcerer - One can only be human to be a sorcerer. The older the character, the more powerful they are. As they get older and discipline themselves, they are able to learn more and more of other people's gifts. Many master in either light or dark, and only one has been able to master both (Sapien).

Common Race:

(Light or Dark) Summoning Being - A creature with phenomenal power, but is under the hands of an even more powerful being (At least by magic or inner strength). Summoning beings have a contract to the summoner. If they are dark, then their payment is an immediate thing after their deed is done such as freedom from their bonds, the others soul and so forth, and hardly holds mutual friendship or anything else-wise with the summoner whatsoever. A light summoning being holds a mutual friendship with their summoner often. The contract usually is something paid over time such as blood sacrifice or luck.

(Light or Dark) Spirit Animals - Spirit animal beings usually have connections to a magical tribe in their bloodline, and can change into their totem animal. Whether they are Light or Dark depends on their inner heart, much like humans, because only humans can be a spirit animal.

(Dark) Siren/Harpies - Sirens eat fish and seafaring men. It doesn't have to be just sea-faring men, they can also be on land. It doesn't matter the race. If they are male, they are food. Sirens are created by the water element. Likewise creatures would be Harpies, who are created by the wind element. Sirens lure the men with song, while Harpies lure them with their gaze.

Most Common Races:

(Dark) Werewolf - Either by curse or an unlucky tango with another werewolf, they change to the moon. This isn't just wolves, either. The less common cat creature is also possible.

(Dark) Vampire - Yes, they can go out in daylight. No their skin doesn't sparkle. They often sleep at night because the sun can rot their flesh faster while the cold is more appealing to them. They drink blood as a means of circulation in order to keep their bodies alive. They are the closest to a zombie an average person can get. They were brought into existence through blood rituals, selling souls and pacts with the afterlife. Evolution took its toll, and now vampires can change creatures to their state as well. While a vampire never ages, and they are stronger and faster than humans, the power is usually romanticized. Royal families take newborns and change them with the smallest bit of poisoning so they continue to age until the poison hits them fully. The art has granted it could take decades. Usually after the body hits its prime. Vampires are under the jurisdiction of the royalty of Merthage. And yes, they can eat real food. Many just choose not to.

(Dark or Light) Elemental (One Element) - The art of controlling one element. This is a gift given to a creature with the bloodline.

(Dark) Hybrid - When one is born with half of one thing and half of another, they are automatically viewed as dark, even if their power is light. There are many hybrids that have neither of the powers their parents have, but some can have both of the full powers. The most dangerous is when one is a human and another creature, because they not only can become the most masterful of the other parent's power to a catastrophic level, but they can learn new techniques with the better chance of becoming a sorcerer. This is why most human and other creature hybrids are sought out by the Order and they more often than not... Disappear.

(Light or Dark) Alien - A creature not of the world of Harganoph. They can be actual 'aliens,' or they can be beings from your own worlds with their own limitations and so forth. There are many fine lines with this choice, so be careful.

(Neutral) Human - One of the most prized of races (In most places). they have the potential to be the most powerful because they are clean slates. they can imagine things in Dreamland to life, they have the strongest will and capacity, and they can bend reality to their liking. They CAN, though a long time ago this has been harder and harder to do as reality became concrete rules that they subconsciously follow. Their worst enemy is their own doubt. Now it takes monk-like concentration to discipline oneself out of their self-made shortcomings. However, they manage to do things subconsciously that they think is purely the work of something higher. They are the glue of existence for Harganoph.

~ Ranks ~

The Order: An organization that controls the balance of Good and Evil and all the elements to maintain peace. VERY few slots.

Assassin: Those that work for the order. When taking this rank, you are a trained killer, and listen indefinitely to the Order.

King/Queen: Every race has a leader. If they aren't run by a council (Like muses and elves) or government (Like humans) then they are run by royalty. Also known as chief, pharaoh, czar, etc.

Government: If choosing this, be sure to add in career what part of government you are. (President, senate, etc. )

Prince/Princess: Offspring of royalty, the power depends on the race.

Noble: You are there for the royalty. You cannot be noble to government or Council. Describe what noble you are if this is chosen in the career section. (Scribe, vizier, etc. )

Entrepeneur: You run a company or firm or are the inventor of a product, etc. In career explain what of. (Fashion designer, pillows, McDonalds, etc. )

Foreigner: Not a foreigner from one country to another, but to most people if not everyone, you would be known as an alien. You come from another world/plane/ etc and usually come here through either Dreamland, Torusa or Ackrland. You can have a career and a race and add /alien to the race.

Commander: Leaders of the military. Careers include Commander, major, captain, etc.

Warrior: Careers include Knight, Samurai, etc. and doesn't mean you have to be a hero. Villains are warriors too. Minion is also a career choice if you are a warrior to evil or chaos.

Authority: Careers include policeman, sheriff, etc.

Citizen: You can have almost any career that doesn't have a high standing.

Peasant: No job, no pay, you are a hobo. Though you can be a thief or pirate or something like that as a career if you choose. Or be between jobs.

Orphan: You can have a career like a citizen, but also a thief or pirate. Yet you are unskilled and a child, and often ridiculed, pitied or otherwise put down for being homeless and without family.

Slave: You work alright, but no pay. Merthage would likely be your home place, though the Sovet regions and parts of Dreamland have slaves as well. Other places are known for indentured servants, etc. This does not include sex slaves, fodder for more powerful beings, and you do not have to be human. Most times, half or multiple/blooded creatures and humans are taken as slaves.

~ Special Ranks ~

Council Members: Sectarian-like areas that usually go by uptight rules and regulations. The Order is careful with crossing places like this. Most Council-led places follow prophecies.

Rogues: Takes the law in their own hands, thieves, pirates, bounty hunters, private investigators. It isn't that they don't have to follow the rules; it's just that they usually don't.

Academy: A school run specifically to develop warriors to keep peace. They do not discriminate; just follow the Academy rules. There are two deans; dark and light. Then there are five mysterious powers strongest in this area. You go up by skill, not age. The Academy does not cross the Order or royalty or leaders, and they are free to go about their business their own way. Careers would be teachers, janitor, cafeteria worker, etc.

Elder: The rank one gets for being a wise aged creature. Because they have seen more changes of the planet than anyone else, their advice is prized and they are heard more than most. When it comes from an elder, it must be true. Though sometimes an elder is senile and unable to give advice, they are still treasured and well cared for most of the time. Or at least in their inner circles. It is common etiquette to not interrupt an elder unless it is absolutely necessary. If one comes to class late and their excuse was a conversation with an elder, then the explanation is valid. Though the professor would often seek out the elder to make sure it wasn't a lie. To lie about a conversation with an elder is not encouraged. There will be consequences. (You can be an elder and a second rank)
