Participate in a double blind medical study?

I am today...and strangely, I qualified for it. I won't share the details because I don't need the squirms to start; however, I do get to take meds that I have no idea what are, and document them in a peachy-keen little diary.

I'll keep y'all posted before I keel over.

I so would! Provided it wasn't something like migranes without my usual medicine for which I would keel over and die. I had a friend that happened to (without the dying, that is) and she was not a happy Vegemite for a while. Good thing we live on opposite sides of the world, hehehe...

Hope whatever it is you're taking cures whatever it is you're taking it for! heart

It depends on if it was to treat a problem I have that there presently isn't any treatment for or not. ^^ There isn't much treatment available for endometriosis, so I would participate in an experimental cure for it.

So even the people who are giving you the drug don't know what it does.

I'd do that and not just because I get extra credit in my psych class for participating in those kind of experiments.

I hope so too! I take my first dose before bed tonight, and it could be a cure for both problems I have, a cure for one or the other, or a placebo. And since no one knows, I get to write it all down in a little diary...if and when I feel effects of some sort of relief or reaction.

This one is for problems that are common but are not concurrently treated in women. :/ Which is ridiculous given the situation. However, they will be giving vaccine for HPV soon, and I will probably do that...because they dont' have a cure for it, and the test group for age 25 and under went swimmingly well. I think that's awesome! Also, it means free exams for 3 years, too.

Dern right they don't, but the drug company who produced the drugs knows what samples are what...and they'll assess afterwards.

I'm surprised I'm doing this, actually, but I'm so frustrated with my current situation that I'm hoping this will help other folks who end up in my situation.

I wish you luck in this study, Jiggy, and hope that it brings you help to get better from whatever you are suffering from.

Yes, Jiggy, I hope you get the drug and not the placebo, and that it works fabulously well!

I hope you grow a third arm. Or something cool like that.

Yeah, if you do, you have to give us pictures and stuff.

I'll be sure to do so, if I do grow some extra arms. However, nothing odd seems to be happening. I hate to disappoint you all so. I guess my karma isn't all it's cracked up to be!

Except for you, TMO...I feel bad that I won't have three more arms that I can run around thwapping you with while shrieking, "All the better to thwap you with my dearie!"

Besides, if I grow extra arms it has to be an even number so I be worshipped as a Hindu Goddess. So let's be fair and make it 4-6 new mutations, please!
