I was too undecided to respond in Athena's judgment thread or to just make a new thread...
But yeah recently I have been seeing more and more of it everywhere. =[
While watching When In Rome the oldest, shortest guy who was after her wasn't attractive but SOOOO SWEET AND SELFLESS. The main guy was a klutz but because he was cute that trait became cute too. I bet you if that trait were on the other actor it would just be a turn off. :<
On Glee when Puck said that when you're a d**k to a girl you only have to be a fraction of a bit nice to her to win her forgiveness back because they're emotional and want things to get better, feel good and s**t. I hate how true that is.
My friend was telling me how her guy friends admit they have to be mean and judgmental. It's a traditional dominance thing, if they are not tough in the back of our mind's we'll see them as sort of push over. Wtf.

They talked about this on QI. There's a psychological phenomenon regarding women who are attracted to 'bad' men. It's not even a rare thing.
Like there's loads of women who are engaged to men on death row, often men they've never even met. Or are vying for attention from men on death row, people convicted of the worse crimes there are.
Serial killers are well known to have had female admirers. Ted Bundy. John Wayne Gacy. Bonnie from Bonnie and Clyde (who arguably wasn't even violent herself, simply attracted to the dangers of lawbreaking).
I mean obviously this is taken to extremes and of course this is only a minority of women.
But I do think a lot of women have that attraction to 'dangerous' guys. Think about movies and fiction, the bad guys always have fanclubs, regardless of how evil and awful they are.
I think it also depends on the 'nice guy' though. Sometimes it's a fine line between 'nice' guy and 'boring' guy. Or guy who never makes a move because he's 'nice'.

Pretty much with VC on this one.
Another large factor is, and this is something John (Danico) has pointed out to me time and time again, is the idea that the woman 'will be able to change him' or 'he'll change for me!'
She wants him to be the bad, naughty, and sexy guy -- but have her be the exception -- like in a lot of books, movies, shows, etc.
That's generally irrational, because it just ends up adding stress, misunderstandings, and hardships in the relationship, especially if the woman is incredibly submissive.
She wants to dig in and find the caring, comforting, emotional part of the guy, when right there in front of her are dozens of guys who aren't afraid to show how emotional they can be.
They (women of that sort) want the best of both worlds, and it generally does not tend to work.
Well, unless you're John and Yoko.

Adding on, I think it's the excitement, the danger, the thrill?!
I dunno, lol. It can totally be argued that Nick is one of these badguys so I'll just say that I love that I don't know what he's gonna do or how he'll react? He's pretty spontaneous.
I know I'll be safe, too. If I'm being threatened his boot will be inside the other person's teeth in a minute. I may not want him to do that but it's nice to know that he will protect me.
Kinda in reply to what Tanya said, too. I don't like how some girls try to get their men to change for them, but it is an amazing feeling to see them trying to change for you, too. ;w;
