Greetings and Salutations everyone,

Within the last several weeks, NFL Network has been running weekly specials naming the top 100 players of all time. Last night they wrapped up naming the top 10. And they are:

10. d**k Butkus- LB
9. Don Hutson- WR
8. Peyton Manning- QB
7. Reggie White- DE
6. Johnny Unitas- QB
5. Walter Peyton- RB
4. Joe Montana- QB
3. Lawrence Taylor- LB
2. Jim Brown- RB

and #1...

JERRY RICE- WR

Much debate has sparked online from this list. Mostly I cannot complain about Rice and Brown being 1 and 2 respectively, or Joe Montana being the highest ranking QB on the list. But I think both Reggie White and d**k Butkus should have been higher ranking defensive players than Lawrence Taylor. And Peyton Manning, no disrespect for him, I can see him in a top 10, but am hesitant to include him that high till after his career is over, and we see what he does through his entire career first.

So for those who have been watching or just looked at the top 10 listed here, what are your thought? Do you agree? Disagree?

This list is bullshit. I would not like Peyton Manning in the top ten. He is more like top 120 atleast. Where the big bad Brett at. I mean come on, he is in human with his record right now, not even the Manning brothers can't touch it for now.

His consecutive start streak or his leads all QB's with the most Interceptions ever? But seriously, Brett Favre ranked 20th on the list.

As for Manning, if he finishes as strong as he has played to this point in his career, I can easily see him top 10. I'm just saying I think we need a complete career from Manning before we can justify placing him that high.

That;s more respectful of big bad Brett but Manning is higher than Brett, really doesn't Brett have the most TD's record to go with his most interception's and most consecutive starts.

He does, he also has the most pass completions and pass attempts in the league. Along with that though also is the most sacked QB ever. Manning does have him beat with more league MVP's than Brett, and is currently on pace to break some of those records. Which is why I didn't like them placing Peyton so high. We should wait till his career is said and done with before we put him in the top 10. But he has the potential of finishing his career as arguably the greatest QB ever. I'm going on record and saying that.

All time or just this season. but in anyway you have to dig up history to find the top. I mean my dad has NFL records that have not been touched in 30 years if you dont believe me google Terry Beeson- a Seattle Seahawk. yep my dad. he might not of had a great carreer but id like to see someones records last that long. just saying tho he wouldnt even be considered but you have to look back in history for the TRUE top 100 players of all time smile okay ive stated my point
Peace out smile

I took you up on your challenge and looked up your father, Terry Beeson's records.

To answer your first question, yes this is all time, not just for any one individual season. True Terry has a team record for the Seattle Seahawks for most tackles in a season with 153 which still holds to today. But he only played 5 seasons in the NFL, and his mark may be the best in Seattle Seahawks history, but not in NFL history, which is currently held by Hardy Nickerson in 1993 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with 214, unofficially held by Tommy Nobis of the Atlanta Falcons in 1966 who supposedly had 294 tackles, but since Tackles weren't a serious stat which was recorded until the late 90's anyways, it's difficult to say who has thee most tackles ever in NFL history.

And as far as your comment on "True History", They had many players from back in the day make it on the list, and Don Hutson who played for Green Bay 1935-45 broke into the Top 10. d**k Butkus was drafted in 65, Johnny Unitas was winning championships for the then Baltimore Colts before there was even a Superbowl.

Was part of this list influenced by "Popularity" perhaps, I won't argue against it. But there is still lots of good representation from players back in the day and then some. And no disrespect, but even though your father did have a short career, and a team record is nothing to be ashamed of, from what I found one team record falls short to top 100 players in the entire NFL history.

Bottom line, many professionals, experts and historians have argued and debated this list. This is just what the official word from the NFL Network believed. And a list like this is truly objective. But some players like Jerry Rice and Jim Brown have made such huge impacts on the NFL, making, and breaking records which may never be broken, have obviously come through as top players who are obviously top 5 material at least.

Wonder where Ray Lewis is on that list. He's played in the league for 15 seasons and still going strong. Thought he might be higher than d**k Butkus maybe?

And Fran Tarkenton. Totally revolutionized the position.

YA Tittle, Sammy Baugh, Ray Guy, Bryant Young, Deion Sanders, etc? Lol.

I wanna see the whole list.
