It's a fairly simple process.
First, go to www.xerocreative.com and follow their instructions to fully install the latest version of YVD.
Next, go into the folder created for YVD and right click on "yvd.set". Select "Open With..." and hunt down the program called "Notepad".
What you see might be staggering a little at first but, once you get used to it, it's fairly simple.
Each line on the file represents a card. In between each | is a different section that YVD associates to a different section of a card.
Example |A Feint Plan|32|LOD|Trap Card|Trap|||||A player cannot attack face-down monsters during this turn.|
Breaking it down with titles for each field. |Name|Card number in set|Set|Card Type|Element|Level|Mechanic|Attack|Defense|Card Text|
Name is obviously, the card name. Card number is the number of the card in the set. Scrap Goblin is EN020. Set is the booster set it came in. Scrap Goblin is DREV. Card Type is the type of card it is. Spells and Traps should say "Spell Card" or "Trap Card". For monsters it's the monster type listed above the card text. Scrap Goblin is "Beast-Warrior/Tuner". Element is the element displayed in the top right. Scrap Goblin is "Earth". Traps are "Trap" and Spells are "Spell". Level is obviously the monster's level. This is blank if it is a spell or trap card. Mechanic is blank for monsters. For Spells or Traps this means "Counter", "Continuous", "Quick-Play" etc. For NORMAL Spells and Traps, it's also blank. Attack and defense are obviously attack and defense of the monster card. Spells and traps are blank here. Card text is the effect or flavor text of the card.
To add cards, simply add a new line to your Notepad, I suggest putting them at the top or bottom and type in your line of code.
Then, save the file as a .set file.
To do this, when you name the file just put ".set" afterwards.
Finally, open the set file with YVD and ta-da. Done.
Any questions?

Thanks, this is really cool. I do have a question though. I made a Tuner monster with an effect, but it gave that monster a Normal monster template. Can I fix that?

Paste your code for the monster.

|Paradox Guardian|04|MIKE|Warrior/Tuner|Light|3||300|2100|When this card deals battle damage, your opponent must discard 1 card from their hand. If your opponent attacks a monster you control, other than “Paradox Guardian”, you may discard a card to switch the attack target to this card.|
It did the sane with a synchro monster too:
|Paradox Dragon|09|MIKE|Dragon/Synchro/Effect|Light|10||2800|2900|1 "Paradox" Tuner monster = 1 or more non-Tuner monster(s). While this card is in play, neither player may activate effects that would allow them to search their decks. Every time a "Paradox" monster destoys a monster by battle, the controller of the destroyed monster must discard 1 card from their hand. Any time a "Paradox" monster is destroyed by battle, the controller of the monster that destroyed them may draw 1 card.|

|Krebons|18|TDGS|Psychic/Tuner/Effect|Dark|2||1200|400|When this card is selected as an attack target, you can pay 800 Life Points to negate the attack.|
I'll add a caveat to the first post but, "Effect" is still required in the code, even if the card reads only "Psychic/Tuner".
|Stardust Dragon|40|TDGS|Dragon/Synchro/Effect|Wind|8||2500|2000|1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters You can Tribute this card to negate the activation of a Spell Card, Trap Card, or Effect Monster's effect that destroys a card(s) on the field, and destroy that card. If you negate an effect this way, you can Special Summon this card from your Graveyard during the End Phase.|
I'm not sure why your Synchro isn't working...
And of course one of my operating files for the program just vanished while I was trying other directions. *facepalm*
I hate this program.

It actually magically stopped doing that to the synchros. I'll go and fix the tuners though. Thanks.
Yeah, the program gets a wee bit annoying, but this is probably an easier way to use your made-up cards than making a file for Lacky.

I'd use this if YVD was for Mac. mad Aw well, it's good to have, especially for the RP.
