The midday light was just hitting its peak as a large winged soquili dipped down from his flight pattern to inspect a small meadow. Though nearing fall, the weather was still decently warm and though the sun on his back was nice, it could get hot when flying at high altitude. Preparing for landing Aneurin did a mild backpedal with his wings and settled in the middle of the grass near a beat up, rotted log. This was a good of a place for a rest as any, and really better than some. He hadn't been here for quite so time....

Aneurin's eyes flickered to the log, more rotten now then ever before but with oddly large chunks missing from it. He grinned slightly. His old "sparring partner," he hadn't seen this since he was a young colt. He used to come out here often as a child, practicing his kicks and twists for hours and hours against the log, slaying imaginary kalona and rescuing the damsel in distress. Though his father and relatives trained him, he had no one to really practice with as his sister abhorred violence and so he often trained out here himself, kicking off large chunk of the log with his small hooves.

As a thought occured to him, Ane whipped around, giving the centre of the log a swift kick with his back hooves, watching as it fell apart. Because it was so old there was no satisfying crack, but still it was fun to kick around the log at least once. Now that he was an adult his training had intensified and become so much more serious, it was still nice to remember his early days of training. Childhood always had that nostalgic effect.

Nadia had a similar life to the stallion she was going to be meeting today. Her family trained her, but her father took it easy on her rather then her brothers, so she received 'hidden' training from her brother Fay, and his friend. But she often practiced where ever she could away from her fathers eyes. It wasn't until after she had become an adult her father was able to realize that he had made the mistake of not training her properly. But the mare held herself with high esteem, her head upright, and walking with confidence.

But it wasn't the confidence of a fighter, it was that of a Lady, one of royalty, not that she actually was. Coming up the path, her auburn eyes looked over just in time to see the stallion kick the log. And it caught her interest, so the mare changed her direction, and stood next to a tree at the edge of the clearing. Her mane curled around her 'ankle'.

"Did the tree offend you?" Her voice was smooth, and a ever so slightly deep.

Aneurin stopped as a voice announced itself at the edge of the meadow and he turned to face the speaker with a raised head, ears flickering forward at the sound of her voice.

"Quite the opposite actually," he chuckled. "This log is something of an old acquaintance of mine in a manner of speaking. I practiced and learned many things on it in my youth. Even now, it is still teaching me things, such as letting me know I am stronger now than I was as a foal. Refreshing to know I suppose." He grinned and started to make his way over to the mare so he could speak with her, observing her with a curious but subtle eye.

She was very attractive, none would argue that point however that was not what interested him. She had the air of one who knew who she was, what she wanted out of life, a rare thing for a young adult. She wore a calm and mature exterior, however there was a sharpness in her gaze that made Aneurin sure there was far more beneath the surface that she did not show. He supposed that it was her eyes that intrigued him the most, for him his emotions usually lay fairly close to the surface, he didn't hold back on anything. But with her....it was hard to tell what she was thinking her posture and her gaze were so composed. He felt as if there could be a thousand different thoughts inside her head and she might give away none. He was always curious about eyes like that, his father had eyes somewhat similar, depths buried far below the surface that even now he didnt fully understand. But the desire to know, to understand was part of what made him so outgoing he thought. He was intrigued by the world around him, especially others and to know more about them he always found a worthwhile, though sometimes challenging task.

Nadia watched him carefully, and she gave s soft smile, as he turned her way. She could understand that, even though she herself didn't have that experience with a log, she would have it on occasion with her brother. She took a few steps from the tree line, so that she wouldn't be so hidden. She hadn't noticed right away, but the stallion was an angeni. And this thrilled the mare inwardly.

It wasn't to often that she got to talk with them. And one who seemed to have something in common with her! This was a real treat. "Who trained you?" She asked out right, curious on who taught him, did he have a teacher, was it someone in his family?

"I was trained by my father and grandfather primarily, though my uncles and occasionally my mother would help. I guess you could call it a family effort. My father wanted to make sure my sister and I had the tools to defend ourselves, but I took to the training quite well and so I continued to train further," he said. The way she had asked made him curious, usually most would ask if he was a fighter or a knight or what he trained for. But to ask who had trained him made it seem like she was familiar with the idea and practice. So perhaps she also knew a thing or two.

"Do you also train with someone? Or have in the past?" Aneurin was likewise wondering the same question, though he had received a great deal of training from both his father and grandfather, he had never trained with someone outside the family. He knew his grandfather was from a foreign land and had learned to fight there, and his father had been trained by another angeni but Aneurin had never really found a teacher of that sort. His father had always recommended training with as many soquili as possible though, after all the more experience and styles the better.

Family training, she was a little jealous that he had a grandfather to learn from. She noticed that a lot of older horses had a lot to offer. But she was impressed that the stallion had picked up on her question. "My father mostly, but one of my brothers, and his friend had help out." She smiled at him, walking out into the field in a more friendly setting.

"My father wanted me to be a princess, so he didn't train me the same as my brothers. But I'm still always open to learning more. " She recently met a mare war horse, that she had become good friends with.

"My name is Nadia. Lady Nadia by birth." She knew it was slightly strange, her brothers both were Sir Lafayette, and Sir Chev. But she couldn't help it, and she had started to grow found of it.

As she stepped forward into the meadow he turned to walk alongside her so that they could walk and converse. Standing in the middle of a field could get boring he though.

It was an interesting thing with fathers he supposed. Though his dad had never really wanted Aneurin's sister to be a princess....he had never been able to train her like he trained Ane. Though he had taught both of them self defense, Aneurin's sister Lumriel hated violence of any sort so he knew it pained his father greatly to try and force her. It was probably similar with Nadia's father, the idea of hurting a mare, even just to train her was still such an idea of bad conduct.

"It's interesting to meet a mare who enjoys training," he remarked, not in a rude way but as an honestly interested manner. "Though my mother and aunt know a thing or two they don't take much interest, and my sister hates violence so she has never enjoyed training."

As she gave her name he nodded, Lady Nadia. Though it wasn't often he heard a title in front of a name he had to say it suited her quite well. She was indeed a lady, or at least came off as such. "I am Aneurin, pleased to meet you Nadia."

She smiled when the stallion introduced himself. Aneurin, she had to say she'd never met anyone with such a name, but it would stick out in her memory. As they took a slow walk through the meadow Nadia had to think about what he had said. She knew he hadn't meant it in any kind of offensive manner.

"I can understand. My mother was never formally trained, but she encouraged me to partake in the training. And it never really occurred to me, that I shouldn't be interested. I wasn't much interested in being a Lady though... But I got both forms of training." She laughed gently. "I have to think that violence of any kind is out of the female brain spectrum, because they are to bear foal, and raise them. Where males have the history of being the protectors... Even though each group do overlap..."

She glanced over at the stallion, wondering if he would agree to that. It was something very basic; for there were more factors in why females tend to stray from aggression, and males go head on. While some females partook in the aggression and other males didn't.

At what she said Aneurin nodded in agreement. He supposed it was the nature of the way they had evolved as a species, after all if females were as inclined to fighting as males then their species would probably not have survived. Of course for some reason the kalona continued to thrive even though he knew that those mares could be as vicious as any male. Perhaps they were just even more so when it came to defending their young.

"Yes I think that is also why males usually enjoy competition more than females. Take training for instance," he said with a grin. "Though I don't enjoy injuring others, I love the competition, the feeling of pushing myself, having to use all of the skills I have learned in one place with no time to think of them."

He looked over at Nadia for a moment, wondering if she felt the same way. Certainly many enjoyed training for the physical activity and the challenge though he had seen others who take it less seriously than he or more seriously than he. Though when Ane was training he kept in mind they were skills he might need in real life, he also liked to have fun with it sometimes. To train merely for combat all the time was more stressful than anything he thought, you needed to lighten it up a bit at times as well. He wasn't quite sure what group Nadia fell into, he doubted she did it simply for the sport of it, her mannerisms suggested otherwise. Though hopefully she was not one to let the idea of training for fighting kalona or skinwalker consume her.

Nadia nodded in agreement with him. "I can understand that. I don't think I train for the sport, or so much just for fun. I think it's more of a mixture. Because I don't go out looking for fights. I go out to help others, and if I can't get out of a situation without fighting then, that's where I fight. I have to also make sure I can train my mind." She laughed some. It was a tiring job, but she loved it, every single day. And she knew she made her Daddy proud.

"I have to say though, there's is no way to be ready or prepared for everything. So there's a thrill of living in the moment." She smiled over at him. She was happy to be able to chat so easily with someone. Normally others seem to find her stuck up, or that she has some superiority complex.

Aneurin admired her resolve, or her outlook on life perhaps. She seemed as if she had found something that made her truly happy and that was something that most searched their whole lives for. "That's a very good way to see it," he said. "To be honest I could probably use a bit more training of the mind as you call it."

Nadia definitely seemed to have a good head on her shoulders and he could see that her views on training were probably some of the wiser he had heard before. Training the mind....to be honest he had never really thought of it that way before. He had a tendency to run into things more or less. That wasn't to say he enjoyed fighting either, though it seemed to be the first thing he did to get out of a fight. Talking had never really occurred to him that much, that it might even be possible.

"Do you travel often?" Ane asked, curiously. For one so young she seemed to have a lot of knowledge already and he wondered if she travelled and had aquired that knowledge throughout her journeys, or if perhaps it was something just innate in her. He was trying to travel, or starting out he supposed would be a better term. He wanted to see what was beyond the world he knew, experience new things meet and learn from others who were different than himself. Meeting her was a rather good start he thought, he was really enjoying conversing with her she was so interesting.

"It can't hurt." She smiled at him. Training of the mind was simply being knowledge about and open minded. Because if you have a close mind then you can't learn, and you're halted. She was inspired that the stallion was taking such an interest in what she had to say. It wasn't often that, that would happen.

"I don't travel all that much. I live with my parents still, since both my brothers took off as soon as they were old enough. I felt that I should stay. But I do over night adventures." She laughed. "Travel to far to make it back in the same day. What about you? I get a sense that you're at least interested in traveling." She was hoping he would opening up more, because so far she had done all the talking, and she knew she wasn't to able to keep a conversation going to well. She didn't often get to socialize, and she hoped that she didn't give off vibes that she didn't want him around.

(heyy sorry just wanted to let you know my computer crashed a little while ago so right now I'm basically just using the computers in the library at school and occasionally my friend's. Hopefully it wont take long too long to fix but I may need to ship it off if the store can't fix it, so until I get it fixed, my replies will probably take a while ^^")

"Yes, quite interested actually," he said with a grin. He understood where she was coming from with her family as he still somewhat lived with his. He was sort of transient in a way, living with his parents for the most part though he took to wandering quite often, though he usually wandered back every few days. He supposed right now would be an example of his wanderings, though he wondered if he would check back in so soon. Nadia was the first outside his family and their friends that had known anything about training or that sort of family lifestyle, and already he wanted to know so much about her. Though he wasn't sure if the desire to get to know her was all just about training, or something more. Either way he was really enjoying talking to her, she was so much more interesting than others he had met.

"I want to travel and see the rest of the world. Find others to train with and learn from, who practice different styles of use different methods. Training with your family is one thing I think, but I guess I want to make myself better, I want to know more. It's kind of a superficial goal maybe, or many see it as such, but training styles and disciplines have always fascinated me, and it will probably make me more well rounded. I'm also looking for more adventure in many ways, I think growing up and hearing so many stories about all these other places and soquili has made me so curious to see them all and experience it for myself."

Aneurin was big on experiences in general actually, and though his parents had always called him stubborn for not taking their advice in a lot of matters, he would always retort with a comment on how he would never learn it if he didnt experience it himself. And even though they were the words of a brash foal, it was words he had stuck with.

( No worries ^_^ )

Nadia smiled at him some, they seemed like they had a lot in common and to talk about. "Well... Um..." Nadia suddenly felt that she was about to be to forward in asking this. "M-maybe we could spar some time.." She felt her cheeks heat up a little, and she glanced away from the stallion. Wow that was tougher then she thought it would. But now that she had asked, she had to wait for the answer.

Though as she tried to reason with it, there was no reason for them to NOT train together, or even hang out. But then... There was always the possibility that he might not be interested in training with a mare. That bothered her a little, but she had to not over think this, and take it as it comes. If not, she could possibly drive him away

He blinked as she seemed to stutter a bit over her words and look away. Funny, he hadn't thought she would be the type to do so, she seemed so composed to him. It was....kind of cute really. Spar with her?

"I'd love to!" He said enthusiastically with a grin. "Don't be too hard on me now okay," Ane joked as he gently nudged her with his wing in a friendly manner. He knew why she was hesitant to propose the idea that they spar, and he knew there were plenty of stallions who thought sparring with mares was inappropriate, since mares were deemed too 'delicate.' Luckily he had never been raised that way, though he had been taught to always protect others, his father had always told him to spar with his sister as he would spar with anyone. Though that had pained the both of them, seeing as his sister was so against violence.

Nadia, he felt was different. She possessed a willingness to train and that intrigued him. Still, his father had always taught him, never go easy when training with a female.

"Just so you know though," he said slightly more seriously. "I won't go easy on you. My father always taught me that females are usually the first to be targeted by things such as kalona since they are seen as less likely to fight as well as stallions I suppose. So to be hard on someone in training means to better prepare them for a time when that training might be needed. So I'm going to put all in, and hopefully you'll do the same. No cutting me slack just because I'm handsome," he winked and then laughed.
