So he was being shuffled a little to have a bunkmate, this, was a good thing, he decided. It was good because he needed to stop stuttering so much, if he had a bunk mate he would absolutely have no excuse for avoiding it. He put what things he owned and had with him away before perching on the edge of the lower bed He hoped it wasn't the one that his room mate would prefer he'd been told it was his and he liked the lower bunk, not that it truly mattered he just did. He let his thoughts wander out towards where he thought he had seen wild flits nesting too, maybe they would want to go with him and get a closer look. Maybe they would find a nest! He pushed the thought aside and tried to think of it as rather rotten of a thought to want to impress a flit away from its wild home... it wasn't working. So instead he tried again to think on what his bunk mate might be like, where they might be from...what had they done before they were searched and so on.

So she was given a cloth bag full of the clothing they were to wear... and pretty much nothing else. She could learn to deal with that, she had not arrived with hardly anything except her skin anyways. Her parents did not give her anything to take, so she took what she earned while being an apprentice for three years. To be honest most of it was clothing and a book of recipes, the clothing was confiscated upon arrival to the weyr and replaced with her current wardrobe.
She went through her first day taking her things with her, she had not been assigned a room yet and was told it would have to wait until lights out. The classes were interesting none the less, and the chores hard, but she liked things being difficult... it was more challenging. Finally she was assigned a barrack, which was apparently half full. They gave her a specific bunk number.
God... She sucked with her people skills. Tila hoped that this bunk mate was at least accepting of things. Or hell, everyone around her was. She heard these barracks held 20-30 people at peak time. If not... she could learn to do what she always did. Ignore it and walk away. Not that she could leave her residency now, but she sure as hell could ignore people. Adjusting the bag she had slung over her shoulder she soon found the room she was looking for. Taking a deep breath she entered to look around the room. It was large, and filled with bunk beds and matching furniture. Walking down the rows, she found the one she was assigned.... top bunk. Nice. She couldn't see her bunkmate just yet. Setting the bag down she started to fill the slot where she would keep her clothing.
Curiosity getting the better of her, Tila looked around into the face of the person who would be sleeping below her.... and stared. ............" You!" She exclaimed, catching a glimpse of the kid she talked to just earlier that day. "Jarest?" She couldnt believe her luck.

"T..T...Tila?" He stammered, so much for not stuttering... he even knew her. He glanced at her bundle of things and then up at her. "Y...Y...Your my bunk mate?" He gaped in amazement. But they had just talked, what were the chances?
"Wow...wow..ah...HI! do you need a hand?"

She was in about just as much shock as he was, hell her mouth was currently gaped open. "Hah! Who'd have thunk it." She laughed as she put more clothing into the dresser. "Apparently there is such a deal called destiny, yup was assigned this afternoon! A little while after we met, actually." She grinned she she gradually lessened the load she carried.
"Im glad to see a friendly face around here. And nah, i got it thanks though! I dont really have that much." She finished pulling out the final odds and ends and put them away. Tossing the bag to to the top bunk she moved around so she could see Jarest better, she sat down on the floor next to his bunk. If she learned one thing, it was not to sit on the bed of someone you dont know. Nothing against him but some people were touchy about the strangest things!

"Y...You can sit on the bed i..if you want." He said standing quickly, after all it seemed wrong to let a girl be the one sitting on the floor no matter how much she acted like a boy. "I mean...I can s...sit on the floor or we...we can each sit on an end?" He offered shuffling to the far end of the bed.

"Nah its ok! I dont mind the floor, its your bed i just did not want to intrude." She gave a knowing glance, remembering that he was afraid all people here were 'loose'.
"Appreciate the offer but for now this is fine?" She wiggled herself a little to make a point that she was comfortable. She did not want to make the poor boy anymore awkward than he already was.
"You would think ide be used to sleeping with so many other people around... being from a large family. Its going to be a long night tho, unfamiliar bed and all."

He sat down on the edge of the bed again looking nervous and still worried that she was on the floor. "I... I think its a little, strange because their strangers, even working with them, I don't really know anyone, do you think its the same for you?" he asked carefully. "At least, we both kind of know each other a li...little better?"

In a attempt to make him more comfortable Tila scooted herself around and rested her back against his bunk bed. Still not sitting on the bed, but carefully leaning against it would hopefully help the tension. "When in the fort i had to deal with a lot of people i didn't know at first, but as the months passed i grew to know them each little by little. Im hoping the same would happen here. Your my only friend so far." Friend might be pushing it a little term wise but to her its how she felt. He was the first person whom has tolerated her.

"The...the Junior Wyer lady is very nice, She let me meet her dragon, and her flit." He said as though those two actions alone proved her nice-ness beyond question. "I'm sure she'll like you too? Oh Ah... um... A....actually. I was going to ask... I saw some wild flits out, Did um... did you want to go see if we can see their nest? I thought it might be really amazing. I mean as long as we don't bother a gold, I hear their more territorial, but it would still be... well you don't...have to."

"Oh wow, you got to meet a dragon? A real one? What are they like?" Her eyes were wide like an owls, or like a small child staring at something interesting. "AND a flit? Damn you've had quite the adventure then!" She laughed.
"Well... like their larger cousins i can see why a mother would protect her clutch? A hunt does sound amazing though! We'll just make sure to not...run into a gold. I hear crimsons are rather nasty too." She twitched. Without realizing it until it was too late, she found herself now sitting on the edge of the bed too.
"I would love to go? Ive never seen a flit."

He put his hands firmly in sight on his knees as not to be accused of any impropriety while she sat on the bed with him. "It might take a bit of climbing, but I'm really hoping we can see eggs, or even a hatching, can you imagine?" He said excitement making his voice more clear and even. "I...I was thinking I might ask Miss Innari too, she's the Jr Wyer leader...so she might be busy but she does like flits I think. Her dragon is... so amazing, she's beautiful, and so huge, her flit is this little blue called puddle, he climbed my arm, it was amazing, and I got to touch her dragon too! No touching her nose or too close to her eyes though, I wonder if its the same for all of them."

"Climbing is no issue with me, though i hope your not afraid of heights? I heard the Flits tend to nest in the -worst- places...." She paused for a moment. "Though i wouldn't know that's all I've heard." She shrugged.
"More the merrier!" I just hope they don't mind my personality, she added mentally. "I hope one day ill get to meet a dragon... ill keep that tip in mind, No eyes no nose...got it. When did you want to go hunting?"
"....Oh calm down boy I'm not going to jump your bones." She said finally noticing his posture.

"I...I don't want anyone to think I'm g...going to j...jump yours either." He said nervous again all the sudden for the turn of phrase. "I'm not afraid of heights either!" he added quickly changing the subject. "A... I don't care for tight spaces though,s...so I really probably need a hand, T...Tomorrow if you want? or...Or we could wait if Innari can't come."

She couldn't help but snort at his reply. "Doll, i duno if you've seen yet but.... i don't exactly have any bones to jump i can guarantee you that." She totally acted masculine, but she was not born with that set of equipment.
"Tomorrow sounds great! We could look around during the free time? Would be a good time to look the mothers might be out hunting."

"Well...I..um..." he stammered "Ah... actually I think right after..." he started and then started telling her the times of day he had seen the wild flits out, and assumed those times might be best to go and find the nest, but getting out early enough might mean they could see where they left from.
