it's Peiter, not Pieter, it is french though, and if you were born/live/lived in france you can use the french pronunciation.
otherwise, please just don't try. lolz.
My mother intended it to be pronounced like the french way, but said for it to be spelled like a combination of the english and french way, or something along those lines.
at least that's what she told me when I was young, I'll have to ask her about it again now, my mother tended to be somewhat irascible and why are you asking questions I don't understand? lolz.
