How many individuals are coming to FanExpo in Toronto at the end of August?
I know Reaper, Will, Mydia, Jazzy and myself are all planning on it.
It's not a big YGO place, but it does have tournaments.
I'll post pictures after the event.

Mr. Academia Duel Disk met Mr. Screwdriver. Guess what no longer works.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have some spray painting to do.

My plans to go got sidetracked for a moment today, since the bill for everything I bought back in Anchorage came and sidewiped me right across the face...as of right now, over half of my bank account is spoken for.
I can still afford the trip no problem, but umm...I may need to split the cost of a hotel room with some folks. :/
All this, of course, is assuming my leave request gets approved tomorrow when I put in for it (couldn't before due to supervisors not being here). Still, we'll see.

Split a hotel room?! What!? ******** that! It's not like we were already all planning on splitting a single room anyway. What kind of stupid idea is that?
Duh Will, duh.

Well, I didn't know that. :b
On a happier note: Leave approved, ticket purchased. :D Will be arriving a smidge late (1:20 Toronto time on the 27th according to my itinerary), though, just so ya know.

MYDIA: Not going. JOE: Unable to go. JAZZ: Unable to go. MIKE: Not going. And now, WILREN: Alone? In a foreign country? Are you nuts? (EDIT: Apparently...yes, yes I am.)

Ritemaster Wilren ... though the refund comes only as credit towards a future trip planned with them. Which you will turn into YCS Toronto? :3

Hell no. If I'm gonna be dropping nearly 2K to get out of town, I'm going to a ********' convention or Vegas or just plain somethin' big. (Current plan is to trade the trip out for one to Dragon-Con in Atlanta.)
As long as I'm out here in the boonies, only way I'm going to a YCS is if a) there's something of the above going on at the same time or b) it's in Anchorage.
EDIT: Okay, so apparently the Hilton that's 6 blocks down the road from the convention had a room available, fairly cheap (just over $500 US for the whole time there).
Given the 3 different airlines I'd be flying on wanting to slap me with a $150+ cancellation fee each, this amount's pretty well spoken for regardless, so I figured it'd be less of a headache to just say the hell with it.
So umm...looks like I'm going after all. sweatdrop
If I remember to take a camera, I'll upload some photos. If not...umm....oh well?

Photos uploaded when I get home, but for now, I just wanted to give you guys a heads up:
If you get any ideas of coming to this next year, check where they're holding it first. If it's still at the Toronto Metro Convention Center, don't. On top of the whole event not being all that interesting, that place was too small for the event last year, forcing them to lock people out, and this year it happened again, to probably at least 1/3 of the attendees. Myself included...stepped out for a few minutes to grab a hot dog, and found myself locked out and unable to attend the YGO tournament or the Upset tournament going on afterwards. So yeah, until they find a new, larger place to hold it, I'm boycotting this event and advising others to do the same.
Oh, and the salt rubbed onto this wound? The hot dog sucked. :[

Ironically I was there. got locked out too. Did not realize others were going.
interesting points about the switch in buildings. What had happened was that a firefighter's conventions happens on the same weekend every year as well. And this year the firefighter convention people booked the south building first forcing fanexpo into the north building.
as for the hotdog, where di you go? the bridge to the cn tower usually has the best ones.

I hit one of the food trucks that was parked right outside. Then I got up, dusted myself off, and got in line to get a hot dog from it.

At that convention center, there's a chip wagon that has the best food. It's yellow and is run by an asian couple. You would have got a full meal* for only $5.
*french fries, hot dog, and bottle of pop
