The second largest office in the Ninth Division, there is a modest library, some are bookmarked and other more worn editions or obviously read often by the broken in appearance of them. The office is somewhat messy, it is sometimes hard to find things. However his desk and work related items are extremely neat and pristine in arrangement, a shocking site indeed.
Also, Zaine has a secret room that possesses a comfy lounge for him to relax in this lounge possesses better lighting and a small bar area that boasts of a respectable collection of fine drinks. When inside he hates to be disturbed but the door is usually open to anyone, but if shut always knock or be prepared for some punishment...... The lounge has an odd door in it that is inscribed with a seal to prevent most people from entering unless of Vice or Captain level or if they possess a special seal from Zaine himself, it is rumored to lead to his special training grounds.

Yomiko had some rather bittersweet memories of her times in the 9th Division. From her little excursion around the squad, it was evident that the times had changed. Just like the rest of the Seireitei, new people moved in and others moved out. The 9th Division had changed dramatically since she had left. Once lively, now the Division was dead and quiet. Unaharu's restaurant wasn't there anymore nor was her presence, which bothered her a bit but she didn't let it bother her too much. For all Yomiko knew, the girl could've changed Squads. While she walked through the squad, she hadn't caught sight of a single shinigami. She briefly wondered if the old Vice was still around, hoping to see another familiar face.
And that's how she ended up in the rather cluttered office.
She looked around for a couple of moments, frowning a bit. The place wasn't impressive, at least, not to her. The office was fairly large, suitable for a Vice Captain but it was just messy as hell. Her aurum orbs glanced over at the desk, which was neat in comparison to the rest of the office. It wasn't anything in Xeion's taste, if she could remember correctly. Yomiko lightly kicked a stray water bottle, pouting a bit as she came to the conclusion that the 'old vice' wasn't at his station anymore. So, that meant that she was in some random guy's office that she didn't know... just standing there.
…. damn.

"Looking for someone?" An amused tone inquired from behind the woman whom had wandered into the room, "If you have someone in particular in mind perhaps I can help you out? I know a great deal of the people around the Gotei." As he said this the Shinigami man walked casually into the woman's line of sight, he was a bit taller than the darker skinned woman and his clothing was unusual for a shinigami, instead of the traditional kosode sported by the vast majority of his kind he wore a long, hooded black cloak that seemed to have been through much in it's life, the edges were tattered and torn, some spots even seemed to have been burned at one point or another. Oddly enough, despite these obvious examples of extreme use there were no holes to be found beyond those at the end of the cloak, underneath he wore no clothing on his torso, revealing a well built form and a healthy tan. His umanori hakama was fairly loose around his legs and his white white belt held the waist tightly, he wore traditional footwear also, simple white tabi and waraji were all that he really needed. Around his neck hung a silver necklace, the charm was an odd type of cross that was bisected on each side by a crescent moon, one appeared to be obsidian while the other held a look akin to that of ivory. His face was that of a young adult, some would consider it fairly handsome though most found his eyes to be quite arresting, they were a deep golden color, similar to honey but sporadically flecked throughout the golden coloration were small areas of blood red. Looking into the oddly colored eyes one got a sense that the man had been through much in his apparently short time on the planet. His hair was a dark, nearly black in fact, brown, it sat messily on top of his head and reached just below his shoulders, looking kindly to the woman he gave a grin that was quite genuine, "And if you are just looking for someone to speak with I haven't had much to do around these parts for a while, no one warned me that being a Vice Captain would be so boring, though from what I know of the new Captain that should change really soon..." he stated with a trace of pure amusement in his tone.

As the other presence made it's way into the office, Yomiko did not bother to move from her station. She kept her golden eyes avert, fixed on the empty water bottle that she kicked earlier on. If she ran out of the office, she'd look more suspicious than she wanted to appear since technically no one's supposed to know that she is there. Her lips pursed slightly as she placed her hands in her jacket pockets, listening to the male speak. She didn't want to make any type of eye contact with him at the moment, trying to think of some sort of bullshit excuse to give him as the reason why she was there in his office. Of course, she couldn't say that she was a Vaizard going around the Seireitei just because she was bored and fulfilling her bucket list.
Tapping her foot to some unknown beat, a low hum could be heard from her as he continued to speak. She could sympathize with him about being bored, having been a Vice-Captain herself, there was little she could do in her squad at the time. The talk of a new captain interested her, curious as to who would be heading the division now. Maybe if she got good in with the Captain, she'd have a hangout spot or something of the sort. It'll be like old times, or so she thought.
The veteran chuckled, finally taking her eyes off of the bottle to look at the male. The first thing that caught her eyes were the coloration of his eyes. Her eyes remained looked on his for a while with a curious gaze before she spoke. A smile flashed on her face, trying to give the impression that she did not mean any harm. "I'm sorry to hear that it's boring. I'd think that it'll be full of... y'know... adventure and excitement...," Yomiko let out another chuckle as she shook her head. "I'm not trying to find anyone, I just thought I would... explore? Yeah, explore. I'm sorry... uh...," She trailed off. "I'm sorry, I didn't get your name."

Zaine payed no mind to the fact that the woman had not turned to look at him even as he had entered. Nor had she turned to him when he spoke, something that he did not much mind either, he wasn't one of those people who felt that everything thing they did and said should be doted upon by those they spoke to. When he finished speaking she finally faced him and he noted that he felt a flash of dull recognition, "I've seen this woman somewhere before........" he thought to himself with some interest, for though she was in fact familiar he could not for the life of him find a connection that sparked his memory, pushing the thoughts out of his mind for now he refocused on her as she spoke and chuckled, "No need for you to apologize, it's not like it is something you can control now is it?" He said with a grin, that turned slightly wicked as he continued, "And you may say you are not looking for someone but I must confess that your body language says otherwise, as does your tone, but if you don't wish to inform me of the person's identity that is your own business and not mine eh?" He said with a shrug, "And I do believe it is the proper thing for you to give me your name first, after all you are a guest in my quarters Miss...?" he said easily, indirectly asking the woman for her name.

Yomiko couldn't help give him a small smile at his subtle inquiry. Of course he'd want to know her name, what she'd expect? For this guy to let some random stranger come into his office without knowing who they were? Crap. Yomiko was starting to regret not bolting out of the office when she had the chance. She turned her head away from him for a moment, her aurum eyes on the plastic bottle once again. 'Her name', as in her real name? Like hell if she was going to give him her name. Yomiko pursed her lips, slouching her shoulders and exhaling a breath before looking back at the Vice Captain. Her eyebrows arose as if she were surprised, lips parting slightly as she stared at him for a few moments while she contemplated her next course of action. "I'm... no one...," She told him, giving him a smile before she started heading towards the door. "Just a lowly seat! Sorry for the intrusion... well, see you later~!" Yomiko stated in a rather whimsical, yet rushed, manner as she walked out of the office and made her exit from the 9th Division as quickly as possible.

She'd heard rumors, but...could it be? Hikari stared at the plaque which decried whom owned the room behind the door where it was mounted. Memories of a clear pleasant night in her past came back. She knew this name. Perhaps not as well as she could, but she knew it. He seemed so vivid in her memory, the cheerful man she'd sat in a tree with, among other things. She could remember the dusty, gritty, brown color of his hair, the golden hue of his irises, flecked through with maroon. His charming smile still dazzled her. He had been so refreshing back then. He hadn't been scarred and maimed and painted like she, but natural, normal. She had missed his bright, upbeat personality, how relaxed he had been. Not troubled and depressed like her. Hikari almost feared that he'd changed in that time or had become colder or more responsible. As a Lieutenant, he certainly had reason to be. He was probably all grown up with a squad to help run. What was worse was that he now outranked her. How embarrassing that he'd been promoted while all this time she'd waited for the same empty position in vain. He'd even been transferred specially to fill the spot. Clearly she was a miserable failure since she couldn't climb higher within one squad. If she had to choose, would she have transferred if they had actually gone to the trouble to ask her? In truth, she did not believe so, for the Jūichibantai held her heart and she was too shy to start over again with another Captain. The prospect was painfully daunting when placed in contrast to the familiarity and trust she had with Ogato.
Hikari's head swarmed with memories and thoughts and she pressed her palm to her temple. So much time and opportunity for so many things to happen. She was scared to face this strange man from her past, but if she couldn't handle something like this, was she really capable of being a good Lieutenant -to anyone? She had to do this, or she didn't even deserve to be a third seat. Swallowing to cope, or to trick herself into believing it was alright -she didn't know- she took her hand away from her skull. The rich red cloth of her sleeve slid down to the crook of her elbow where it hung. The four steel spikes embedded in her knuckles tapped against the wood, once, twice, creating a drumroll effect. Now what? No one had answered, but she'd only knocked a few seconds ago. It wasn't possible for the door to be answered unless someone stood right next to it all the time. Terrified that she'd lose her nerve, she debated entering on her own. It was his personal office, but it was also a public place for his squadmates to allocate him. By that logic, it was acceptable to at least peak in. I'll just peak and see if he's home, she thought. See if its him.
She let her hand drop to the doorknob and turned it slowly to silence the added heraldry which may have been provided by the motion of the metal components. The door slid open soundlessly and she peeked around, only to be drawn in by the sights within. The desk and workspace was immaculate which contrasted starkly with the rest of the area. Surprised, she stepped within and went to a shelf. She ran a reverant hand over the spines of the books, smiling slightly at the worn appearances of some. At the back of her mind, she wondered where the new Lieutenant was.

"What's this? Seems I've been pretty popular lately, what with all these female visitors and such." Came the warm and pleasant tone belonging to the owner of the office. Entering from the back area Zaine smiled lightly, "Long time no see there Kari, how have ya been?" He asked carefully, his tone curious but not unkind, "What has brought ya to my office? Is there something I can do for ya or are ya just here to catch up?" He casually continued this line of questioning while simultaneously strolling further into the room until he came to the still ajar door, without a word he closed it before once more facing the woman who had made her way into his workplace. The vice captain's dual colored gaze slid back to his guest, her long brown hair, almost always put up or tucked away from view, a choice he felt was a pity since it was quite beautiful in his opinion. "So what's wrong eh? Cat got your tongue?" He asked with a wry grin, while brushing some dirt from the shoulder of his black cloak nonchalantly while waiting for the answers to his plethora of questions.

Hirimi Shein 2nd Squad 3rd Seat• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Hirimi didn't leave the base of whatever Squad she happened to be in very often, today though happened to be one of those days. Why? Well, it'd been a very long time since she'd seen Zaine. Actually, she hadn't even seen him for some time before she'd left Soul Society for a short time. It was over a year, that much she was certain, since she last saw the man...
The woman had some common sense today, and that was to ask every stranger she passed for directions to make sure she was going the right way. Even with the constant directions it still took her an hour to find her way to his office. At least she was flustered faced from exhaustion like most of her adventures to another Squad's Headquarters! That definitely wouldn't have helped her try and keep face among these strangers...
Hirimi stood at the closed for a few moments, her nerves finally catching up with her. What if he didn't remember or recognize her? What if she had the wrong place? What if he wasn't here? What if he hated her for her time away from Soul Society? What if she didn't look presentable? She ran her hands over her uniform, straightening any wrinkles she found. She checked her hair, which she'd pulled back into one thick, loose braid at the nap of her neck to make sure it was still in one piece. She tried to blow those stubborn bangs of hers away from her eyes, and failed completely...
She couldn't stall any longer.
Carefully, she reached up, and lightly knocked on the door three times, fidgeting nervously as she waited for some reaction inside the room...

Zaine rolled around in bed, still deep in the grasp of sleep when the knocks at his door first tickled the barest grasps of consciousness he possessed at the moment, muttering to himself in his slumber his body twitched and he ended up falling to the ground in an unceremonious heap of blanket and irritation. "I'll be there in a moment!" He slurred loudly to the person at his door, stumbling up in naught but a pair of boxers he made his way sluggishly to the bathroom to preform his morning duties, washing his face and changing into his normal attire composing of a long black cloak, loose black pants, and cross necklace the vice captain bit back a yawn from his youthful face, the crimson and gold eyes of the young man displayed a look of mild fatigue from the near all nighter he had pulled. "Damn new members are a pain in the a**, so much paper work for just one person..." he grumbled, walking towards his desk and picking up a piece of paper with a picture and some information attached. "This one's just a kid too, Senka Hakase...let's hope she's not gonna be too much of a problem." he mused to himself mildly, a slight grin touching his features, "As if we have any members who don't cause problems, that's what makes this squad fun after all."
Pausing a moment he thought of what it was that had roused him from the comforts of slumber he realized with a start that someone was still waiting at his door. "s**t!" he exclaimed loudly and ran to the door, swinging it open quite suddenly and finding himself face to face with a rather attractive face from the past. "Hirimi....That you?" He asked, blinking in confusion and surprise, looking the woman over though it was unmistakable. That long red hair, those piercing green eyes and that kind smile, it was the woman Zaine once had known in what seemed like an eternity ago. Back when he was a mere unseated member of the 10th Division he often made visits to her in squad 4 in a less than favorable condition. But each and every time she was kind to him and despite his idiotic reasons for being there she never once told him that he should give up on his dreams, she encouraged him from behind the scenes and actually was a big reason he was currently in a Vice captain seat. However since things had gotten so hectic around that time he had never had the time to go see what happened to her, and he had heard little from her other than she was no longer the Vice Captain of the Fourth division. Realizing that he had been staring rudely he shook grinned sheepishly and bowed to her, "Please come in, its just been so long I was shocked to see ya here." he said with a slight blush, ushering the woman in and closing the door behind them.
"So how have you been Hirimi? I've missed ya." He said with a smile before realizing what had been said, his face flushing red and he quickly stammered. "W-what I meant was that I missed speaking with you, it's been such a long while and so much has been going on as of late so I haven't been able to keep in contact, sorry to say..." he said with a slight hint of remorse for this in his tone. "I heard you left squad 4 though, kinda surprised me when I heard that since you are such a great medical expert and all, I suppose that kinda experience could come in handy though, regardless of squad eh?" He said with a grin. "Speaking of which, what squad are you in now?" Zaine inquired politely, he realized he was babbling but he honestly couldn't stop himself for some reason or another....

Hirimi Shein 2nd Squad 3rd Seat• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Thud!
Both Hirimi's eyebrows were raised in alarm as she heard the unmistakable sound of something, or someone, falling and hitting the ground. Then, that familiar, somewhat sluggish, voice. So she did have the right room? And.... She'd probably woken him up. Well that was smart of her. If he didn't remember her he'd probably be thoroughly pissed at her! That thought alone almost convinced her to leave and come back at a better time... Or not come back at all...
If it weren't for her sheer determination to see this old friend, she probably would have given in. As it was, she just waited nervously, fidgeting where she stood, unable to stand still for more then a quarter of a second. It felt like forever before the door was yanked open as if he might pull it off it's hinges.
The abruptness made her visibly jump in surprise. She recovered quickly though, her surprise quickly replaced with her usual bubbly, cheerful self, her trademark smile instantly on her pale lips. Of course she recognized the man in front of her, she did have photographic memory after all. That same towering height over her, the unnerving Crimson and gold eyes, the unmistakable dark hair. This was Zaine. There was no doubt in her mind.
"What? I haven't changed that much since we last saw each other, have I?" Her eyebrows were still slightly raised, but with the combination of that smile on her lips her expression almost looked playful as she teased the taller man. It took him only a moment or two to revive from his own shock, that grin spreading across his lips as he spoke once again. Instead of responding though, she just nodded, obeying instantly and slipping inside before he closed the door.
In the office she stared at it's contents. It was... Interesting to say the least. She'd been in this room once or twice before, but that had been a long time ago, and Xeion had been the Vice Captain then. Maybe she'd expected it to be the exact same as then...
Ripping her attention away from even the thought of Xeion, she returned her bright gaze to Zaine just in time to hear him speak. Like him, she smiled almost instantly. If it weren't for his blushing and stammering she would have responded right then and there. A hand moved to cover her lips, trying to hide her laughter before he noticed it. She couldn't see why he was getting so embarrassed, men were so strange sometimes! Was it really that bad for them just to say 'I missed you' and not have to try and explain themselves?
A few chuckles escaped as she shook her head in pure amusement. "Well, I missed you." She lowered her own hand, uncovering her grin. After a few moments though, her grin faded a little. He wouldn't have been able to stay in contact even if he had had the time... After all, no one had actually known where she was until she returned a few weeks ago. Fidgeting a little, she entwined her fingers together in front of her. "It wasn't just 4th I left. After everything that happened..." She paused, sighing. "I just had to get away for a little while. I only just came back a few weeks ago." Her smile finally returned as the subject turned to the present. "Second." Another short pause. "I'd ask what squad you were in now, but I think it's pretty obvious." Her grin was back now.

Zaine gave Hirimi a grin upon seeing her cover her mouth, the blood that had suffused his face finally calmed down and his complexion took on its more normal appearance, though one could tell there were still slight traces of red here and there regardless. "Well I'm glad you came back, and I see you still think you need to hide that smile of yours." He commented wryly, "Quite the pity to do so if you ask me, I think your smile is quite lovely myself." Walking into the small kitchen he had managed to procure he called out to the woman, "Congrats on getting into squad 2 by the way! Want something to drink? It's a bit to early for alcohol for most but if you want I have some nice choices in the back." Zaine offered politely, usually his guests had either run off by now or had been taken somewhere else so he was a bit confused as to what he should be doing.

Hirimi Shein 2nd Squad 3rd Seat• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Hirimi could be shy sometimes, hence why she did try to hide the strongest of emotions at times. It was a wasted effort though, as her whole body language expressed her emotions, and not just whatever look was on her face. Even Zaine, who hadn't seen her is a very long time, had instantly recognized what she was trying to do! "I'm told you men like it when a girl plays shy, though." Told, being the keyword. It wasn't a secret how dense this woman could be sometimes, just like it wasn't a secret how often she was flirted with by half the men she knew. Mention the flirting to her though... And she would probably call you crazy, if that said how dense she could be!
She was openly smiling now, having listened to his 'somewhat' advice not to try to hide the emotion. His offer made her giggle a little though. "It is to early for alcohol." She spoke in a matter of fact tone. "Not to mention, unlike you I doubt I have much of a tolerance for the stuff." That was an understatement. The only time Hirimi had every had alcohol.... It took only one drink to completely intoxicate her. Since then she'd decided not to push her luck with the stuff. "Anything else would be fine, though."
The woman lowered herself onto one of the couches, her gaze wandering once more. "I know it's late, but congratulations on making Vice Captain." A small pause. "Enjoying it?" She was grinning now. Ah the wonders of being a Vice Captain. Pulling way to many all nighters, dealing with new recruits, covering for the Captain when the Shinigami wasn't presence...
