The Republican Party of Texas has recently voted on a platform and since homosexuality is the root of all that is wrong in the world the platform consists of the following;

Banning Oral and a**l Sex
Outlawing Sodomy
Outlawing “Sexual Oriented Businesses” i.e. Strip Clubs
Banning All Pornography
and
Giving jail sentences to anyone who issues a marriage license to a same-sex couple
(despite the fact that such licenses are already invalided in the sate.)

The 25 page proposal was issued last week and the GOP hopes to carry the plan out over the next two years

In addition, the platform says that homosexuality “tears at the fabric of society, contributes to the breakdown of the family unit and leads to the spread of dangerous communicable diseases.”

Lets ignore the fact that the GOP wants the destruction of all forms of love and look at the facts here.
Texas has an area of 268,820 square miles (696,200km^2 for our metric buddies) and a ever growing population of over 24.7million residents 24.7 MILLION oh oh oh...it’s also the largest state in the whole of the contiguous U.S. that means we’re ignoring Alaska (and Hawaii but stfu)
Unless the GOP has a giant monster that is fed by the crushed dreams of children and homosexuals(I’m pretty sure that they do but they don’t want anyone to know about it..) I HIGHLY doubt that that can even do half the stuff on that list.

I’m just so outraged by the fact that so many people out there still view love as a crime.

The Montana GOP has added similar stances to their platform. It really makes me dislike my state - not that I vote GOP anyways lol. But its just kills me to think they feel like they should be criminalizing something that has nothing to do with them and shouldn't affect them.

Actually, according to the Texas "Homosexual Conduct" law, a**l and oral sex is currently an arrestable offense. It's just really no longer enforced because people are becoming more and more tolerant of homosexuality, but there still are, of course, some people who won't tolerate it at all. Read about Lawrence v. Texas. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is the last time this law was enforced in recent history.

You see, I'm actually a Texas resident and plan to finish college here, but as soon as I get my Bachelor's degree, I'm getting the hell outta here.

I was raised in a predominantly Baptist community, and my aunt considers herself to be a Baptist. My grandmother is a Pentecostal, and my mother is a Lutheran because her side of the family are northerners whose ancestry lies in Sweden. On top of that, my great-grandfather from Germany founded a church in Oklahoma.

Edit: I just realized the date on this thread, but since politics is an ongoing thing, I guess it really doesn't matter... except that Texas now has 99 republicans sitting in the Senate. :/
