He had been tracking them for some time now. It had taken some time to select the right herd, one with a magnificent king stag. He had put himself on this mission, but had been accorded his King's approval. A king for the King, this was. A hunt for a worthy feast for the presentation of the King's offspring. Reign of Terror would celebrate richly upon whatever Khorr brought down. In fact, he took pride that his Alpha had agreed to give him this honor. It was a task he took very seriously.

Thus he had taken his time, picking the herd with the healthiest, largest stag. The rack this one sprouted was massive, and would present its own challenge when bringing it home. But time enough for that worry. For now, the time for the true hunt had come. He'd followed them until the situation was perfect for his approach. The wind blew just the right way, the stag stood upon a substantial rise of ground, sunlight crowning him in golden glow.

Tongue lolling in anticipation, his blood rushing with a swift surge of adrenaline, the red wolf began to stalk, steering clear of teh grazing herd and aiming for where he'd ambush the unsuspecting leader. Today was the day he'd kill for his King. Stepping lightly, he stole through the underbrush and neared the earthy outcropping, close to the ground and near silent in his approach.

"Go hunting" Piper said. Do this, do that, it'd been nothing but orders since the dragon-winged female had arrived in Gomorrah territory. Along with her sons. Ugh. Don't remind her, please! She'd paid -- thoroughly -- from a night of fun with a rogue called Jericho, a rogue with a twisted mind and a twisted grin but oh, he'd been good... So good, in fact, that he gave her his hellspawn and now she, Korrigan, was the mother of two unruly pups. Pups who had no care for cleanliness or vanity. Brats...

So here she was, hunting. Hunting a flock of deer -- that's what you called a group of the mindless bastards, right? Flock? Or was it herd? Oh, she didn't know and she didn't care at the moment. What she cared about was doing it without getting a fleck of blood, ruby crimson, on her white and grey pelt. As she moved, her gauntlet, given so -lovingly- to her by those Two-Legs-Without-Fur, squeaked gently inside the casing of leather around her paw. Oh, but she knew how to use it now. It was of use to her...

Keeping herself low, she neared the flock, eying a lamed doe with a twisted hoof limping at the back. She licked her lips -- always good to take down the weak so they didn't infect the others... Her lips twisted into a grin as she leapt forwards, body moving gracefully.

She wasn't aware of the red brute stalking her doe's leader, King of the Deer. She only had eyes for her prey.

Just as his muscles coiled to spring, a ruckus caused the king stag to whilr about, presenting his dangerous hind hooves in Khorr's direction. The beat of fleeing hooves came only moments before his prey leapt down to urgently direct his herd away from the threat.

Fuming at his foiled attack, he sat bolt upright and looked around, a red and white head that showed clearly now against the sun-sprinkled greenery. His ears were pricked, but thrown forward aggressively. His lips were peeled back from his teeth as he ground out his ire. Whoever did this would pay!

He bounded out from his cover to discover it was a female, not of his pack. Though the two young females he'd met recently had caught him unawares, he'd quickly picked up the scent of the pack upon them. This female bore plenty of scent, but it was not of his own pack. He also caught a whiff of milk. He ran towards her, ears pinned and fangs showing, but inwardly was puzzled. What was a mother doing out hunting?

Korrigan's head snapped up as the herd leader bellowed and began to race forwards, her doe following the rest of the flock. Goddamnitalltohell! Korrigan bit out a curse, then flew after them, only realizing there was a red male after she'd passed him, feet glancing over the packed summer earth.

But damn, they were fast; faster than her... She slowed and dropped her head, panting, then headed back to where she saw that male. Oddball, what was he doing? "Oy! You messed up my hunt," she grumbled as she neared him, keeping her head high and her tail flagging the air. She sniffed in, smelling another pack on him. Other wolves. She wrinkled her nose and promptly sat down and began to clean her paws, much like a feline might.

He scowled as she came back, mouthing curses at him! His head came, up, jaw taut, facing her directly, eyes narrowed. "I think not. You spooked the lead stag, which was the one I sought." His voice was a low growl, and deep and masculine as he could have wished. Still, there was that very distinct scent of milk about her, and it was putting him off kilter. A nursing mother?

Irked that he was so easily distracted, he turned it to his advantage. "Shouldn't you be tending your pups, breeder?" he taunted. "Leave the hunting to those who know how." He sneezed in disdain, though he kept his eyes on her closely. His nostrils flared. She wasn't a lone mother, that much was sure. The musk of other wolves clung to her freshly. He bared his teeth at her in a feral grin, part humor and part threat. "Would you like me to hunt for you, poor little mother?"

Though his words were mocking, they also lacked the biting quality of someone who sought to hurt. There was more disgruntlment in his words than barbed and malicious intent. Still, he didn't let his slightly twisted amusement stay hidden either. She might have cost him his kill for the time being, but at least she was interesting to look at. His eyes ran along the curving, intersecting lines on her pelt before narrowing them once more on her own eyes. "If you were going to spring your trap, you could at least have caught something to show for it."

He rose to his paws and began to circle her as she cleaned herself. What a strange thing to do when one hadn't yet sullied fur with blood yet. His ears flickered foward, back, to the side, unconciously communicating his wandering thoughts and conflicting instincts. A nursing mother needed protecting, providing for. A clumsy hunter needed punishing and repudating. A pretty female needed courting. A rival for food needed to be fought. Furstrated by his warring thoughts, he snarled softly, taking one slow step around her at a time.

Korrigan blinked at him, pausing in mid-lick to look up at him. Her pale green eyes flashed with sudden anger as well as an uncertainty. Breeder? Did he just call her...Ohlord. Her lips raised in a snarl, she ambled to her feet and stood there, hackles rising. "I'm hardly a "breeder", brute," she snapped matter-of-factly. "The kids were accidental, not my choice. The leeches no longer drink from me."

With that, she tipped her head up and shrugged, letting her gaze wander up and down his red pelt. Scars adorned his muzzle and his ears were tattered, yet he smelled of other wolves. He had a pack... Was he a warrior of some kind? Her lips turned down from a snarl into a sneer. She didn't need anyone to hunt for her. She was capable. Even if she hated it. A thought sprang to mind.

"Although...if you want to hunt for little-old-me...go right ahead," her voice lost its acidity, turning into a smooth purr. She could do it herself, sure...but that would mean getting dirty. Her tail gave a short wag as her head tilted to the side very slightly. "I would be Korrigan, of Gomorrah...at least until the kids are teenagers."

It somewhat amused him that he'd gotten a rise from this stranger. It troubled some small part of him in the back of his mind that she called her own offspring "leeches", but it was of little consequence in the end, right? He listened with a smirk as she felt the urge to explain her personal situation to him. She certainly had spunk, that was for sure!

Her abrupt change of attitude though immediately put him on guard. Noone straightforward ever made an about-face so swiftly. And ah, there was the hook. She did indeed want something from him, and he felt the rise of a huff of indignance. She knew very well his offer was an empty one. Did she really think to wheedle him into doing her work for her and her accidental brood? He gave a snort of dismissal that changed into a choked cough of startlement at her name.

Well this was unexpected. He stared at her wordlessly for a moment, then broke into a sharp bark of real laughter. Who could have guessed such a thing?! "Korrigan, are you? Then Khorrigan you meet." He gave her a dip of a shoulder, one paw folded underneath in a slight and mildly mocking bow. "I am Khorrigan, of Reign of Terror." He stood straight again, head and tial both quite high and dominant. Gemorrah she might be of, their allied pack, but Reign of Terror was, of course, superior.

Once again, though, part of what she communicated threw him slightly off. She was only of the pack until her pups grew? His tail wilted just slightly in his curiousity. "And what of you then? You will leave them and do... what?" Not that it was any of his business, but this female was very... well, he found her very unusual. Not what he expected at all. Nursing pups, but did not want them. Of a pack, but would not stay. Proud and fierce, but wheedling and manipulative. The mixture was oddly appealing to a wolf that had half grown up in a pack where the females almost all were vying for the position of being their Lord and King's mate. She was a mixture of all of them, both cunning and physically powerful.

Since she felt no tie to her pups or her pack, perhaps this would be a wise time to court her? For Khorr it had less to do with the heart and more to do with what made the most sense to have in a mate. She was all the things he'd noted as strengths in the females in his pack. She must have faults too, of course, but surely with such strengths, those faults could be overcome? He blew out his breath heavily, then inhaled deeply, drawing in her more personal scent, disregarding the lingering traces of other wolves. He paused close to her, eyeing her thoughtfully. This bore more investigation.

Korrigan watched him, sitting back down carefully, careful not to disrupt the earth around her. Her tail curled around her side, strangely long enough to brush her forepaws, laying over the curved metal gauntlet. His name was the same? She smirked a little; must be synchronicity for them to've met, then. She believed in Destiny, but this was a little farfetched for her. Khorrigan... "Of the Reign, huh..."

Piper had told her about ROT. She hadn't said much, beyond the fact that it was Gomorrah's ally and that she had respect for their leader, the Goblin Monarch. She smiled at the stranger who bore her name. Her tail flicked. What would she do when she left here? "Wander... Find a couple of pretties to call my own." Slaves, oh how she hungered for them. Children were insistant and whiny; slaves, on the other hand, had the minds of adults, at least.

"Why?" Her eyebrow arched. She watched as he smelled her, her own breathing pausing for a moment as she in turn smelled him. "You are permitted to call me Korii, if it is easier." Her lips twitched in a laugh. "Now. I've been...recruited to pay my alpha back for her...hospitality." This time, she did laugh. "So if you want to help me hunt...who am I to tell you no?" Her green eyes twinkled in merriment.

He had no clue what a pretty might be to such a she-wolf, but it mattered not to him. He quit his slow circling, sitting in front of her and rolling her shortened name around on his tongue. Korii. "Khorr is what I am called, for short," he answered her. "You may call me that. Or Handsome works as well." He wasn't sure what made him throw that in, but a corner of his mouth pulled back in a slightly leering smirk.

But her laughter over being asked to hunt gave him pause yet again. What was amusing about it, he wondered? Clearly she did not feel her welcome in Gemorrah was worthy of being asked to hunt, so what was it she laughed at? He canted his ears forward curiously, considering her 'offer'. At least this time, she had said help. And what better way to get to know this strange and intriguing wolfess than to hunt together?

He gave his head a sharp nod. "If we can work together, I think it could be mutually beneficial," he replied carefully. Unaware that it was her very enigmatic aura that drew him, he felt the strong urge to spend what time he could with her while he had the chance. "We should hunt your doe first," he decided aloud, rising again to his paws, casting her another thoughtful look from the side. Courting wasn't something one had any good examples of in RoT. There was much pursuing, dominating, and shmoozing, but very little courting. It left him somewhat at a loss of how to proceed, or even if he should.

Yes, a hunt was a good idea. Perhaps he could figure out how to approach her, or even if she wanted to be approached. Whatever the outcome, this was not a she-wolf to be dominanted. If indeed she was amenable to his affections, their pairing would have to be one of equals. He blew out a breath and shook his head to clear it. Time to get back on the trail of those deer. "Ready?"
