EDIT: I have a link for the Rainbow Republic story now. ^_^ Rainbow Republic!!Hmm, I'm not quite sure if this is the right place and if not, I'm sorry. I have to write an article for the school newspaper and it's a bit troublesome for me not to be able to write editorials. It has to be news or feature or entertainment. I don't do sports. I just really don't care so I can't find the motivation to sit through a school game. Anyway, I wanted to write a news or feature article on something having to do ith the g/l/b/t community because everything in my school seems so unheard. My all time favorite teacher, even though I only knew her for several months, left at the end of last year and with her a lot of the steam for the GSA (or at least so it seems as she was the advisor). But alas, I can't think of a topic. I'm not asking you to do my homework for me, I'm just asking for any ideas. I could do entertainment, but the book/movie/music/play reviews have to be from things coming out right now and I don't know of any ^_^;; Anyway, sorry if is in the wrong place, but it seemed to fit ^^;;
I was going to do a story on these gay right activists in Taiwan...hmm, no I still can't spell that country who are planning on starting their own country, The Rainbow Republic, but my teacher said I couldn't because that wouldn't be possible to relate back to the school and the students. I've spent most of the afternoon looking for ideas, but I thought I'd ask for help this once ^_^

It's for the Feb. issue of our paper but it's due on the 11th of this month. *grumble* I'm horrible at writing articles but I'm determined to stick out a class that's hard even if I don't want to.

I forget where it is, but my History teacher and I were talking about this one law college that refuses to let the military recruit there because they discriminate against homosexuals. Perhaps you can talk about that a bit. It'd make for a great article, and could cause some debating. ^.^

Oooh, wicked. I'll look into that. Thanks ^_^ The military comes to our school and I steal pens and feel enpowered (even though they're free). My uncle's are in the military though, so I don't can't hate them. Hmm, that sounds like I would be biggoted otherwise. I'm not good with words and making my thoughts coherient. ^_^;; Thanks again for the idea though.

That would be interesting and I could probably do it next issue. I'm doing the barbie website thing. *giggles* It looks so interesting. EDIT!!:: I found the link!! http://www.christianpost.com/article/society/2150/section/cwa.says.barbie.website.promotes.gender.confusion/1.htm *whispers* Which is good, as it was for my grade.Basically, this website for children ages 4-8 had gender options: Male/Female/I don't know. The American Family Assocaition had a little hissy fit and the website changed it to 'i'd rather not say'. It annoys me but it seems like an interesting article to write about. I found one site where the article claimed that people were using this to push ahead the gay agenda. Okay, look, I don't think this is fair. I want a copy of this gay agenda!! And it seems that more straight people know of this gay agenda than g/l/b/t people. *looks suspicious* What does that tell us, boys and girls??

The Rainbow Republic? biggrin Taiwan <3!
I'm glad to hear that it's ahead in civil rights, though; Taiwan is reasonably liberal for an Asian country, I guess, but it's still an Asian country. They're a lot more traditional than we are. The motion to create a country for LGBT Taiwanese is pretty interesting, but I do hope the government will take the hint instead and simply legalize same-sex marriage for them. I really am proud of my background country, and I'd like to see it moving even further forward with that.
And I like a lot of the articles being presented here. It's pretty neat to hear about these things. :]
