Hi all.
I am wondering if anyone else here is a student of sociology...?
Even if not, I would like to discuss our observations of people in the real world or online ~ patterns of behaviour, and how they relate to systemic trends and global issues.
I want to kick this off with the idea that people's patterns of behaviour online in MMO's mimic the exact same norms as we have IRL. Such as, distance apart from one another whilst conversing ~~ this is something we all "just know", and even though it is unnecessary for physical reasons in internet worlds, people do it anyway.
Do you have other observations that you have made of people's behaviour and, what do you think it says about humans....? How much do you think is natural (as in, biological) and how much do you think is cultural?
