((Private role play, for plot development purposes. pirate ))

The she wolf ran almost blindly, so desperate to seperate herself from Thayne before she could cause him any grief that she did not pay attention to where she was going. Something had the she-wolf horribly spooked, so much so that she didn't even see the wall of black and crimson until she'd smacked headlong into it and staggered back, tripping over her own lengthy legs. With a loud yelp Tony collided with the ground in a heap, already apologizing in a jarbled rush--

Until she looked up, that was.

How boring.

There were no wolves around- not even any of those furry woodland creatures- to entertain his admittedly short attention span. The place held the suggestion of wolf-scent, as every bloody place in this 'freeland' did. In irritation, Kurogane lifted his lip, giving the place a glance over once more. He'd left Sen for the moment- he was busy with his own game after all, and Kuro'd gotten bored. Giving an aggreived sigh, the large wolf made ready to move on...

Until an unexpected weight slammed into his side.

He whuffed sharply when the air was forced from his lungs, and made ready to turn his outrage on the already apologising offender...

Until he looked down.

"Well well well..." Smugly, if not a small bit surprised.

Thayne was still in the same place and position as when Tony had taken off like a rocket. Granted, his ears were flat and his tail limp.

He was crushed.

The reaction he got from her was unexpected and depressing. He had half-expected a no, but running away? Scared like that? Her fear had overwhelmed the friendly mask; it still lingered heavily in the air. He stood up, his legs feeling heavy and shook himself, both of snow and emotional weight.

About that time, her yelp reached his ears. He perked, brow furrowed. She was some ways away; amazing, considering it hadn't been that long ago. Nonetheless, Thayne bolted into a lope, heading toward Tony's voice.

There he was, towering over her like a vengeful ghost from her past. Exactly one of the wolves she was trying so desperately to avoid, and just one of the reasons she'd run from Thayne with her tail between her legs.

Instinctively her hackles raised. She might be an omega, but Tony still had some fight left in her, enough to try to defend herself if need be. She'd had a taste of freedom again, and she didn't intend to go back, not alive.

Despite the defensive position, a fearful, breathless whine came from her throat. The omega scrambled to her paws and tried to escape before Kuro decided to act.

She was scared.

Almost immediately, Kurogane's body slipped into it's most intimidating stance, drawing itself to it's full height and shaking a bit to fluff up the thick fur to make himself appear even bigger. It was a ploy that the male had used several times to intimidate his playthings.

When he saw that she was trying to escape, though, Kuro moved towards her in the lazy amble that he also used during his game, his face creasing into a smile. He wasn't very fast, so he had no intention of trying to cut her flight off, at least for the moment. It prolonged the game if he didn't, after all.

Kurogane didn't even wonder why this omega female was so far from the b*****d's pack, it never occured to him. Oh, later it would, but he'd never been as quick as his brother, and wouldn't have mattered much to him besides, unless the b*****d himself showed up demanding her return.

"Where are you going, little thing? Aren't you glad to see me?"

Thayne was close enough to hear Tony' faint whimper and another voice taunting her, but not yet close enough to find out where she was. In his head, he growled in frustration. If someone was tormenting Tony -- perhaps the sweetest wolf he'd ever met in his life -- they were deserving of a serious attitude adjustment.

And Thayne had absolutely no intention of being merciful in delivering such a thing.

Dammit! She shouldn't be any of his concern! The last she'd heard he was sent here by Nagah to track down someone else! She didn't want to be dragged back! "Leave me be, Kurogane!"

Well, Tony didn't care how fast or slow Kuro ran. She ran at full speed with no intention of letting him catch her, nor any intention of leading him back to Thayne.

She scrambled over a log, but then tripped on a patch of ice hidden behind it under the snow. With yet another agonized cry she finally took her last spill, skidding a bit on the surface of the small pond and biting her tongue, eyes squinting shut in pain.

If she hadn't gone running away from Thayne, she wouldn't be in this mess in the first place. How ironic was that? Almost so much that it hurt, more than the ache her body felt at the harsh connection with the cold ice.

For a while, she couldn't even bring herself to move. She just curled up with a whimper and waited for what was to happen to her next.

Thayne abruptly turned and changed course, following Tony's voice. He heard the yelp and whimper and picked up speed, not caring how big this sorry codger was. He was determined that whatever was hurting Tony would pay.

"Tony!" he called, his adrenaline-laced fury barely hidden under the worry in his voice.

Well, this was turning out to be more fun than he'd thought. She actually tried to get away.

With Tony so quickly running away, Kuro increased his amble to a trot, arriving at the female's new position a few minutes after it had happened. Once there, he let the smile that didn't quite look right crease his muzzle again.

"Now, now.. you wouldn't be trying to actually escape me, would you? You know full well how good I am at tracking." A chuckle. Well and good, in any case. This was infinitely better than standing in a field of useless wolf-stink.

Kurogane raised his head, though, at the interruption of another wolf's voice. A protector? For the omega thing? How rediculous. He snorted in amusement, one eye and ear on Tony, the other of each keeping watch for this new player in the game.

[[ I can always redo this if we don't like it, okay? X3 ]]

Thayne burst from the bushes, going nearly top speed. He looked different than before, rather fearsome for once instead of simply large. Kurogane's "technique" of raising his fur and holding himself up high wasn't unique to him; Thayne was large himself, nearly the size of Kurogane if an inch or two shorter at the shoulder, but broad enough thanks to his genetic line and his mountain heritage. His thick coat made him at least look as large as Kuro and the lethal look on his face might've made a lesser wolf faint. His eyes were perhaps the most fearsome part -- they almost glowed in the moonlight, [[ this is still at night, isn't it? or am I completely daft? ]] not only from the light but from a bezerker rage slowly building in him.

He saw Tony lying on the ice and Kuro hulking over her. He had come in at an awkward angle for Kuro to attack him immediately, somewhere in a blind spot. A split-second was all he needed to come to a conclusion and make a decision.

Kurogane was obviously Tony's tormentor.

Thayne had high intentions of killing him.

He made for Kuro at top speed, eyes narrowed and ears laid flat against his head. He leaped for the other male with a sound that was almost a roar, heading toward Kuro's side with the intention of at lease knocking him away from Tony.

[[ Do we want to use dice for this or not? ]]

((We can if you like- but not for this first strike. Kuro'd be taken by surprise, no matter how much he's paying attention, because of the speed. And so long as neither wolf is killed, any way is fine with me. xD ))

The combined noise of Thayne crashing through underbrush and his wolven roar made Kurogane begin to jerk towards the noise... But not quickly enough. A big wolf, he was, but Thayne was also big. Bigger than what he was used to fighting.

So Kurogane was well and truely knocked from Tony, landing on his side on the cold ground. The wheeze of pain from Thayne's impact quickly turned into a snarl, though, and his own red eyes flashed. He was challenged, and by this thing that would protect! The game, and Tony, were as insignificant to him now as a bug was, his considerably unstable attention focussed solely on Thayne.

He scrabbled to his feet quickly, determined to not let the opposing wolf get a neckhold, his hackles rising, ignoring the bone-bruise he'd recieved from the attack.

Tony felt floored, not just by Kurogane towering over her, but that Thayne had just come to her aide like a black rocket out of the blue. None the less, his scent was there, just aas suddenly, and his bellow caught the she wolf's attention, even as the fight began.

"Thayne!"

[[ It might be a little easier for attacks and such.. if we do, I'll give Thayne 4d8 if Kuro is 5d8, since Kuro is bigger. And no, neither wolf is gonna die. XD Just seriously injured, it seems, since both of these guys are a little craaaazy, yanno? ]]

Thayne had no intention of letting Kuro get the upper hand, not while he still had it in his grasp. As soon as he landed on his feet again, he pushed off and dove for Kuro as he was getting up. There wasn't likely a chance he'd get the throat -- not that he'd really expected to, this soon -- so he settled for snapping viciously at whatever he could reach. Neck, legs, shoulder, tail -- anything. He was a little faster than Kuro, being slightly smaller, but that wouldn't save him for long. He assumed, however, that Kuro was used to fighting wolves the size of him or bigger and fought like a demon to make up for what he thought was a handicap.

Tony -- the reason for the fight -- was far back in his mind. Like Kuro, the only thing intensely present was his enemy. The only thing he desired was to spill Kuro's blood onto the snow.

(( Okay, taking a short break- so I understand this dice-attack thing and don't make a fool of myself. xD;; What's a strike, and what's a miss? That sort of thing? *sonewtothis* x3;; And what does the 4d8 and 5d8 do?

... *yes, shot*))

[[ Okay, so for our purposes, die rolls are gonna be real simple. Thayne gets 4d8 and Kuro gets 5d8. That means that Thayne rolls 4 8-sided die and Kuro rolls 5 8-sided die. How it works is that you average the scores of your roll and that makes your total score for the round. The attacker rolls first and then the defender rolls.

If the attacker rolls higher, then the attack is good. In our case, we'll say how well the attack goes is dependant on how far apart the rolls are. To make things fair, what's say Thayne gets 5d6 and Kuro gets 4d6 for defense rolls.

Ex. Thayne rolls 4d8 to attack Kuro and gets a 22. Kuro rolls 4d6 and comes up with a measly 16. Thayne's attack is successful insofar as he catches onto Kuro for a second and tears him open a little. But if Kuro had rolled a 30 on Thayne's attack, he'd've dodged it and Thayne wouldn't have touched him. Now, if Kuro attacks with a 30 and Thayne rolls a 15, he catches some serious damage -- which is what I expect from most of these little spats.

Is that too complicated? We can take out the defense rolls if you want. I'm not sure exactly how we can do two rolls at once on these posts, if at all. ]]
