I have noticed several members have this gift/burden of the "sixth sense". I want everyone to share as they will and recieve support here.

Let me tell you a little about me. I am 26 years old. When I was very young I also felt I was being followed. I grew up in a house bult in the 1920's and my first ghostly memory was of my parents ceiling lamp spinning in circles above me. Now I did grow up in earthquake country in the San Fran bay area, but it was no earthquake. It really seemed like wherever I went ghosts did follow. When I was a child I began to sense emotional residue, which terrified me. As a teen I began to feel stronger things and get blips of names and faces. I do recall getting a feeling of a teen female who was killed on the railoroad tracks outside my highschool ( teens were always getting killed there sadly.) At home I felt tons of things, which was worsend by my use of the Ouija Board and preforming witchcraft without understanding how to ward and things like that. I couldn't even cast a cricle back then. When I got older and met my fiancee he told me I should embrace my gift, not fear it. I tried, until I was attacked in my garage by an angry demon spirit names Shirley, yes developed the ability to pick up names. I picked up that a man died in the house in the 40's-50's (Dsay help me out, I can't remember) Anyways his name was Joseph Arthur Gibson. Dsay found his grave at a local cemetary. I was really trying to embrace it and get over my fears, but when my dad passed away in 2008 I shut it off. It frightened me how my dad was coming through, I couldn't take it. I still have my abilitys half shut off, I only get blips once and a while. I have no idead how I shut it off, and I am too scared to turn it back on. Anyways I'll probably get more into details, but that it in a nutshell.

Yeah, I've had experiences like that. My really bad one was with something that came into my room a few times. It was around the time I was getting sleep paralysis, but I know it caused one of those because when I tried to look up once after waking up (I was on my stomach) it grabbed a handful of my hair and covered my eyes. But after a few visits it left me alone (thank the gods for that one, huh?) My reaction afterwards (due to that, a few other similar but not nearly as scary instances, and how empathic I was at times) was to shield as hard as I could, and it seems I am so adept at shielding like that now that unless I concentrate on lowering my shields I don't register to others. I've had people tell me that I show up as nothing, that they literally can't feel me. They know I'm there because they can see me and I'm talking and responding, but I register otherwise if they try to sense me in any other way. So I've been working on lowering my shields too. Except for one instance I don't lower them to less than half strength, but it's more than enough for tarot work and the like. The only time I have dropped my shields completely was with the first circle I cast in years (this was sometime last year). Though there are times when I put them back up, or forget to thin them out, I try to leave them at half strength. I can feel plenty that way, and still have a measure of protection.

For me I think it's mostly just the amount of practice I put into certain things, combined with the place where I was practicing. There was a lot of unhappiness there, and a lot of it was from the ground itself. Remember that apartment I used to live in with my family? Yeah, like two months after they moved they uncovered Indian remains a block down the street. *shudder* It explained so much when my mom showed me the paper with the article. So yeah, I think that for me it was me developing my abilities made something in the area curious. Still not a pleasant experience, but at least if it happens again I am better prepared to deal with such things.

It's ok. We're here. Just turn on the T.V. or something. That helps me when I start feeling strange things.

I've been able to see ghosts since I was 5 years old. I wish I could shut it off.

This is most likely because your third eye is less active or inactive while watching tv. This is due to your brain being in a lower than normal gear. Spiritual energy works like a beacon for spirits. But since you are in a lower gear. It's more difficult for a spirit to actually find you. Or however it actually works.

My own spiritual energy is lowest. When my mind is in a state of disorder. My own skills include seeing ghosts and Dream Manipulation. If I focus this energy. I can also use it as a short term stamina boost.

i'm actually kind of glad that i'm not gifted like you guys are...i know myself well enough, so i can safely say that if something that i couldn't see or sense attacked me, i'd have a heart attack and die on the spot. sweatdrop

the closest i come to the sixth-sense type are with my tarot cards, but nothing too far out.

that doesn't work for me. I remember as a child laying on my couch watching TV and a hand reached over the top of my head to the front of my face. When im on the computer I feel things pace behind me. I feel TV and computer distracts me, and makes me feel like im not alone.
