Introduction

Welcome to the Tales Series Guild Guide. If you're here, it means that you've actually caught the notice on the front page and are looking to join the guild.

Anyways on with the guide. This thread will guide you along this guild, and will possibly answer some of your questions. So it's advisable to read this before doing anything else. Or you just might find yourself...warned or banned! sweatdrop

Yes, this is kind of much to go through, but please bear with us. So, without further ado, get started on reading!

Rules

Rules are generally divided between two types. normal rules and Insta-Ban rules. Three violations of normal rules will get you banned from doing any activity in the guild for one week. After that week, the ban will be lifted, and you can carry on as normal. But violate them one more time, and you're gone forever. One violation of an Insta-Ban rule will get you banned with no chance for redemption.

INSTA-BAN RULES

(Placed first because these are the foremost rules you need to acquaint yourself with.)

1. Rule of "OH GOD MY EYES!"
Absolutely NO pornographic or explicit (like gore) material is to be posted. This is the WORST POSSIBLE violation, in our opinion. Do this, and not only will you be banned, you'll also be reported to Gaia Online moderators.

2. Rule of Passionate Embrace
Do not attempt to "cyber" publicly in the guild. We have minors, for heaven's sake. If you must, take it OUTSIDE of Gaia. (We're not 100% sure, but we've heard that if you take it to PMs you still might get caught somehow so we're not going to advocate that.) Like, e-mails or messengers or something. Minor romance, such as kissing and hugging, are fine. This counts for roleplays, too.

3. Rule of Dwarven Vow #11: Lying is the first step down the path to thievery.
If you want to share fanworks and original artworks not done by your own hand, we highly suggest that there be some form of credit to the original artist, be it mentioning their name or linking back to the source of the art. If you can't figure out the source...you will actually get off fine as long as you don't try to pass it off as your own creation. Doing so is called ART THEFT, and it will result in a permanent ban from the guild. We deem this to be the third worst possible violation (behind posting explicit material and cybering).

4. Rule of Stalker Rights
Stalkers have no rights. If we get reports of someone in the guild constantly stalking and harassing someone, that person leaves.

General Posting Rules

1. Rule of Street Respect
Be polite at all times to your fellow guild member. Drama is not good. It's okay to fool around at times, but make sure you don't piss people off too badly. It's okay to start debates as long as they don't devolve into flame wars. Realize that people have their own opinions, and if they clash with yours, that does not mean you have the right to bash them for it.

2. Rule of Dieting Posts
Do not stretch pages with posts. If you want to show a large picture, just post a link. As for text... it's kind of bothersome to see a straight line of punctuation or words with no use of the spacebar. If you do it occasionally, we'll just remind you about this rule. But if we see you doing this often with the intention of deliberately annoying people, you'll get a strike on your record.

3. Rule of Constant Insignificance
Do not spam. Unless it's in the Random Nonsense thread. And that still has its limits. Don't bump, there's no use of doing so unless you've otherwise explained your situation and have been given the okay. Don't just simply post an emoticon unless it's as a reply to another post.

4. Rule of Thread Necromancy
Posting in a discussion that seems dead (a.k.a. "necroing" wink is fine by us as long as your reply is substantial and relevant to the topic at hand. If you make a spammy reply in a dead thread, you get a strike against your record.

5. Rule of Blindfolded Text
If you're putting up a spoiler for anything at all in a thread that has not been marked with a spoiler warning, then hide it under the handy-dandy spoiler tag. It's basic courtesy. Just because, for example, Tales of Symphonia is a 10-year-old game doesn't mean there will never be people who are new to it. Same goes for other games you may want to discuss.

[spoiler]Simply use this code to hide your text.[/spoiler]

General Thread Rules

1. Rule of Thread Cloning
If you're going to make a thread, make sure it hasn't been covered already. There's no use in making a repeat thread. CHECK to see if your question/topic has already been brought up, and if it hasn't try the threads in subforums. THEN create a thread if you still haven't found one.

2. Rule of Misplaced Marbles
Create a thread in the subforum in which it is supposed to belong in. I.E., if you want to roleplay, have a look over which of the Roleplaying subforums suit you. Do check the fifth post for a guide on which subforum your tentative thread may belong in.

3. Rule of Specialized Disclaimers
If your thread will be all about discussing the plot (or one crucial point in it) of a game from start to finish, then mark it with a SPOILER sign of sorts on the title so that people who have yet to finish the game know not to enter it.

Miscellaneous

1. Rule of Complete Denial
If you didn't know that something was a rule, we will only let things slide ONCE if you were unaware. You will then be directed to rereading these rules, and any further violations will be counted against you.

2. Rule of Wielding the Loudspeaker
The Guild Announcement feature is open to anyone, even ordinary members, to use. You may use it to advertise contests you want to run, roleplays in or outside of the guild, your own guild, and so forth. But the moment this feature gets abused—for example, using it to spam everyone with inane comments simply "for the lulz"—that right will be revoked. Don't ruin this for everyone.

3. Rule of—HEY! LOOK! LISTEN!
PLEASE keep your Guild Announcements enabled! Go to this page and make sure the "Guild Announcement" option box is checked. We want you to keep informed on guild activities like contests, mini-contests, forum updates, and hangout sessions! (Note: Failure to comply with this rule does not earn you a violation, but it's something we'd really appreciate you doing, thanks.)

4. Rule of Literacy Confirmation (for those who are about to submit a Join Request)
You must submit an adequately-worded join request to be accepted. It doesn't have to be long—it just should contain a reason why you want to join and some evidence that you're a fan of the Tales Series. For example, mentioning what your favorite game is in the series. Join requests that are blank or without that information will be declined.

(However, do feel free to inform our Captain by PM if you submitted a join request with the requirements but was still declined. A while back, there was a glitch that made join requests show up as blank and it just might happen again. User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.)

Mods

I introduce to you the moderators of the Tales Series Guild. We're here to help you, so if you have a question, just ask!

Azura Cantarella [Captain]
Azura usually frequents the Random Nonsense Thread and Roleplaying subforum. She also happens to be an avid Kratos Aurion fangirl, even having an alternate account who resembles him as much as possible right down to the username and outfits. Mostly docile, it takes a lot to piss her off, which means she's either graciously tolerant and open-minded or just dense and oblivious. In addition to that, she is pretty much here everyday, so you can be sure she'll catch your questions concerning the forum.

Fedora Warrior [Vice Captain]
Yes, it's a weird name. Get over it, he likes things weird. Fedora Warrior (His real name is Vance and would prefer you call him that) has become Vice Captain under Azura. He's often found in the RP subforums (specifically the A New Tomorrow, and Zeal threads) but sometimes wanders over to the Random Nonsense Thread or the word games. If you have any questions about the guild, a tales game, or life in general. Please do not hesitate to ask him. ^_^

Krazy-Chibi [Crew]
Not only is she a Symphonia fan, but also an all-around Tales fan with her fair share of knowledge in the series. Zelos happens to be her favorite character, and it appears she's the guild's sole resident zombie. She also does art and is an avid gamer and anime fan.

Sirea Angelie [Crew]
Sirea is often found in the Random Nonsense Thread and the Roleplaying Subform. She is the kind of person who is easy to get along with. Not only is she an anime fan and a gamer, but she also does art.

Tales of Treasury [Crew]
The account for keeping funds and prizes for guild contests. We'll accept donations of any kind, be it cheap Daily Chance junk or pure gold.

Forum Guide

All right, all right. We are aware each subforum has its own sticky explaining what its purpose is, but we still feel this is needed not only for a little more convenience, but because we still see some misplaced marbles around from time to time. Here is a rundown from top to bottom on the list.

The Seraphim Lounge - No touchy. Crew only. It's where we mods are relaxing and plotting your demise discussing any plans for the guild.

The Main Forum - The forum you are currently in. It's pretty much a free-for-all (save for meaningless spam/bumping)! You can talk about the Tales games, request game help, and share fanart/fics. Even non-Tales discussions and word games are welcome!

Organized Roleplaying - Exactly what it says on the tin. But aside from Symphonia RPs, you may set one in other Tales universes (or even your own!) if you wish. You may also set any from other fandoms, or crossovers, or your own universes—you name it! Only main RP threads and their corresponding OOC chats are allowed there.

Skits Archive/Casual Roleplaying - For the sake of organization, this is a subforum for threads of small conversations/events that take place within one of the RPs in the Organized Roleplaying subforum. Y'know, events just like the Skits in Tales games. They're brought there so that its specific thread doesn't feel all cluttered up. As for the "Casual Roleplaying" part, this subforum is also for threads involving light roleplaying that's not attached to a huge plot. You don't need to make up profiles, just grab your characters and go. c:

Roleplay Resources - A place for your characters' profiles so that you are free to edit them at any given time instead of depending on a GM to edit in the updates to your profiles. It's also a place for storing your fancy-schmancy post formats, if you have any.

Recycle Bin - This is where all the threads that have the most likeliness of getting revived go, so that OPs may easily find them if they're still interested in resurrecting them.

Archive - This is where long dead threads go. Absolutely no posting goes on there, and any that does will be counted as spam. Not that they can be no longer discussed—they've been locked to prevent confusion since timestamps on threads are often overlooked. If you wish to start a new thread based on the topics you see there, you may do so—provided it isn't a repeat thread in the Main Forum.

FAQs and FMIs
[Frequently Asked Questions and Frequently Mentioned Issues]

Okay, I'll admit this. These questions/issues listed aren't actually "frequently" asked. We just thought they have the potential to come up often. However, if you have a question regarding the guild, check here first. You just might find an answer. If you don't, then you're welcome to raise your questions in the Q&A sticky.

1. How do I join this guild?
In order to join, you should press the "Request to Join" button on the top right corner, just below the guild min-banner. You then fill out the application form and send it in. Make sure you included the special requirement! Within a few days, a moderator shall have seen your request, and if your application is approved, you are welcomed to the guild!

2. My thread disappeared! What happened?
If you can't find your thread, it means that it has been deleted or either moved to a subforum.

3. Why was my thread deleted / locked?
Most likely, your thread has violated one of the rules of this guild, and has been deleted or locked as a result. Check the subforums to see if your thread is there. Especially the Recycle Bin, since a mod will usually state their reason upon locking a thread.

4. I was banned from the guild. What happened?
There are two ways to be banned from the guild. One is through the three-strikes method, the other is through the Insta-Ban method. The three-strikes method basically has a strike added to your record whenever you break a normal rule. Three strikes and you're out for a week, with a chance to rejoin after. Three strikes after that, and you're gone forever. The Insta-Ban method has you banned forever with no chance of coming back, regardless of your method. See the Rules section for more details.

5. How do I become a moderator?
If you have been in the Tales of Symphonia Guild long enough and are deemed worthy, you have a chance of becoming a moderator. Of course, that doesn't mean anyone who's been here for a long time can become one. New moderators will only be recruited when we feel that there aren't enough to keep the guild under control. So don't get your hopes up too high.

6. How do I leave this guild?
If you are a member of this guild, then the "Quit Guild" button should have replaced the "Request to Join" button. Simply click on that and do whatever it tells you to do.

7. What are the subforums?
Subforums are basically smaller forums. They help keep the guild organized by topic. You may refer to the fourth post for concise details on what purpose each one serves.

8. What are the subforums marked "(TBD)"...?
Don't worry about those. XD "TBD" stands for "To Be Decided", which means the subforum doesn't have a purpose until we can think of one. They're completely blank forums that we can't delete because Gaia hasn't updated the Guild system to do that yet.
