UMMM...HI I WAS JUST WONDERING, I KNOW THERE ARE ALOT OF TYPE OF VIET THAT SPEAK DIFFERENTLY IN VIETNAMESE. BUT I WAS JUST WONDERING HOW MANY TYPE OF VIET ARE THERE? PLEASE LIST THE ONE YOU KNOW! ONE TIME I STAY AFTER SCHOOL TO PLAY SOCCER 4 FUN WITH OTHER STUDENT (ELD STUDENT ONLY) N THEIR R ALOT OF VIET BOY LIKE ABOUT 5 OR 7 OF THEM, MEXICAN, N RUSSIAN WAS THERE TOO. I WAS LIKE THE ONLY VIET GIRL THERE PLAYING N 2 OTHER VIET GIRL WHO ISNT PLAYING N 2 OTHER GIRL (NOT VIET).BUT ANYWAY... I ONLY KNOW 1 OF THE GUY HIS NAME WAS LUKE N HE KNOW EVERY VIET THERE N OTHERS STUDENT. WHEN SOCCER WAS OVER, LUKE N HIS VIET FRIENDS WAS WALKING N TALKING IN VIETNAMESE, I WAS BEHIND THEM N I DIDNT UNDERSTAND THEM, I DONT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT. I TRIED BUT I DONT REALLY UNDERSTAND VIET MUCH. crying BUT THEY WERE SPEAKING VIET VERY DIFFERENTLY.

Well, viet is viet, they probably just had an accent or talked too fast to understand properly xp

There are probably many modern changes
to the language,
but I thought there were only two (main ones at least).
North and South Viet.
I speak South Viet.

North Viet usually pronounce g with z.

There aren't only two: North Viet, South Viet and South Central Viet, North central Viet... so on...
I'm living at Southern of VietNam, and of course i speak South Viet, but my sister's husband... He was born at North central... when he is here, he speaks North Viet but sometimes he talks with his parents, he always use North central Viet...
That language make me laugh 'coz he talks so fast and i have no ideas on what he's talking 'bout...
