The demon Angel
"General? General of what?" Vincent replied curiously, "Why does he use a sword, do you suppose?" He glanced at his new companion, then back into the arena, watching his masterful swordplay, and while he knew a good deal about martial arts, he couldn't place the man's style. A quick second glance at his companion gave him a thought, "Do you suppose he's Wutaian?" He didn't know that much about Wutai, but the boy beside him was obviously descended from the western orientals.

"General of SOLDIER, he works for ShinRa, head of their milliatary branch. And he is certainly NOT from Wutai." The boy sniffed somewhat disdainfully at that. "Dunno why anyone uses a sword, but his has more reach than most at least. I'd wonder more why he has his whole chest exposed to potential danger... then again, he seems pretty able to handle it..." The boy considered, gesturing vaguely to where the great General engaged the gargantuan beast. "He's really fast, but really strong too..." The boy frowned. "It's really amazing..." Looking around he whispered conspiratorially "I think he might even be able to beat up my dad!"

((Man... didn't know how tiring it would be to endlessly post with myself... xp ))

Sephiroth hefted the Masamune, swinging it a few times to loosen the stiffening muscles in his arms. Already his shoulders had settled into a constant ache, a really nice Massage would be heavenly after all of this. After completing his breif stretch he surveyed the Vlakorados, sizing it up even as it did the same for him. The beast before him snarled, bearing vicious teeth, although it's maw seemed undersized for it's body, it was still large enough to snap the General's head off with ease. Sephiroth grinned hefting his blade in one hand and adding a gesture of welcome to the creature. Vlakorados weren't stupid, as many of his previous oponents had been. It snorted in response and suddenly the air charged with energy, electricity crackled in a dangerous arc towards the silver-haired warrior. Sephiroth nimbly dodged, rolling across the ground to rise again a several feet away, Then the testing began, several feints and light attacks to judge the abilities of each other, Sephiroth had a notable disadvantage with size, but the Vlakorados could not match his dexterity. That had always been one of the key points to his victory in the past. Sephiroth smiled, I can take him... He decided after one of his probing attacks managed to nick the creature's hide. Sephiroth lunged forward, ... and a moment later found himself flying across the sands, the Vlakorados' tail had snaked around faster than the eye could blink and had whipped the human like a fly. Masamune was airborne, Sephiroth hit the ground in a breath-depriving thud. Gasping hoarsely as stars winked before his eyes, his vision cleared just in time to see the sparks in the air that signified another electicity attack. Squeezing his eyes shut he braced against the pain to come, wincing in anticipation. For several moments nothing happened, he could feel the energy in the air, felt the uncomfortable heat of the raw plasma, but there was no pain. Cracking an eye open he noticed the attack was over, the Monster appeared more than a little put-out, confusion settled over Sephiroth, what happened? It was casting... certainly it had the magical reserves for such a spell.... Then his gaze shifted and he noticed with more than a little alarm that Masamune had landed point first into the dirt a mere foot from his head. The realization of how close he had come to decapitation sent a cold-chill down his spine, yet he realized that his trust-worthy blade had acted as a lightning rod, rendering the Vlakorados' attack ineffective. The monster in question was more than displeased, it was enraged, and with a roar it lunged at the prone General. Instinctively Sephiroth grabbed the Masamune, yanking it forcibly from the ground, but he barely had time to level the at the monster before it was upon him. Ducking his head he felt the hot breath of it's maw, the teeth grazed across his shoulder pauldrons even as he tried to dodge, the weight pressing him down was terrifying, he knew that any moment the jaws would find his head and that would be the end of it. Dio would have won this sick game he was playing, and Sephiroth would be nothing more than a Memory. ... The moment never came, the Vlakorados stopped moving, and instead seemed to sink further on top of the Silver-haired warrior. It took a good deal of struggling but Sephiroth managed to extricate himself from under the creature's mass. And a breif survey of the situation told him it was dead... in it's fury it had impaled itself on the Masamune, driven the sword ironically through it's own heart... That... was fast... Sephiroth noted in a daze, I'm a renowned General, I've commanded men and defeated hundreds of monsters, and yet,... I just killed this thing in record time with my own supidity and pure dumb luck. He shuddered at the thought, it sounded like something Zack would do.

"Sure!" Zack replied with a grin, anything Aeris wanted to do he was more than happy to participate in! The SOLDIER quickly made his way through the crowd, no easy feat considering how packed it was, and he carefully escorted Aeris through it, in a remarkably short time they were pressing through the doors into the stands, and Zack got his first good glance at the arena below, a huge corpse was being dragged off by the Battle Square workers, and there in the middle of the bloodied sands stood a rather scuffy-looking irritable Sephiroth. Zack stared, he had no idea what had so miffed the general, ussually Seph was moderatly happy when he was fighting, but there was no mistaking that look. Sephiroth had decided SOMEONE was going to die, and Zack almost instantly began praying that the wrong-doer wasn't somehow him.

Vincent couldn't quite supress the momentary smirk that came to his face at that. "Oh... um, yeah that's curious... he must be REALLY powerful to do something like that." He turned back towards the action, mostly so the wutaian wouldn't see his pained expression. His dad? Really, and the kid actually looked older than him. He'd have expected an outlook... maybe a little more mature? Not that he was going to say anything about it. He'd just roll his eyes mentally and try to make sure he got this Sephiroth's attention when he emerged. From the looks of things, the fights were quickly escalating, and by his calculations the 'finale' would probably come soon.

Sadira turned from the man huffily when he did not answer her inquiry about the nature of ShinRa. Just then a most enticing smell entered the arena... she closed her eyes and sniffed. She knew that smell... it was a nice smell, a CETRA! Without so much as a by your leave, the white cat was bounding through the crowd with abandon. She came in view of a pink clad young lady, from which that smell emanated. She grinned cat style and leaped down impressively in front of the young lady and her dark-haired companion. "Greetings," she said cheerily. "I am quite surprised to find someone such as yourself in this place." She had not yet noticed the white-haired general in a particularly murderous frame of mind.

Looking about for the cat they saw with horror that the white cat had decided to find new methods of entertainment. They looked about frantically and saw the feline had decided to introduce herself to Aeris. While it appeared the cat did not see the general, the twins did.

" He's going to kill the cat!" Fenrir exclaimed, " We have to save her!"

Garm still wary of the general from his previous experience hung back, but his twin charged forward to save the cat. Sadira's self-appointed protector pushed through the crowds ignoring the slurs directed towards him. He managed to stumble through... right into Zach. Garm came behind him silently, trying to remain out of Sephiroth's field of vision.

OOC: The family resemblence is starting to show through on Shinrei...

"My dad is the most powerful ninja in all of Wutai." Shinrei pointed out. "I am the son of Godo Kisaragi." He confided beaming with pride. "So who are you, what does your family do?"

Thalon was bored with the cat, it seemed rather stupid. He stared just above the feline's head focusing on nothing in particular, this action gave him a kind of vague, distracted look. As he stared Thalon though to himself Geez this cat is in the middle of a Shin-Ra amusement park/prison and has no idea who they are? Eventually the cat gave up on him and walked away. Now that the cat was gone Thalon realized that his only source of fun had walked away. He really would have found nothing about the Gold Saucer fun if it wasn't for the people. The battle square was useful... but not fun, he didn't really fancy himself being turned into a frog, or have his materia broken, or his weapon and he certainly didn't like it when they poisoned him. Glancing around the room Thalon decided that twins would be fun... but they seemed to be panicking and he thought it really wouldn't be nice to harass them so instead he followed them. Nearby he spotted a women in a pink dress and... the cat, he decided he most certainly didn't like the cat, and approached the pink clad person from behind whispering into her ear "This nasty beast recently escaped from the prison, and he is quite partial to lovely ladies in pretty pink dresses" Thalon almost smacked himself, it's quite difficult to be taken seriously when you used so much alliteration. It had been an accident but he was still quite certain it sounded ridiculous.

"Why hello there..." Aeris greeted as the platinum cat beast approached her. She smiled and laughed a bit at her statement. "It is not my usual sort of place, though it has made a nice vacation for my lonely mother." The Cetra girl admitted. As Thalon came up behind her Aeris almost hit him on instinct and as he told his tale, she could only giggle. "This creature most certainly does not seem liable to eat me I assure you, and also even I can tell that She is not a male." At about this moment, a cry went up from the crowd, and Aeris turned to look, she first covered her mouth and looked away from the carnage, and then noticed a familiar shape. "Wait a moment.. that man... isn't he ... He's the one who hit you in the wonder square!" She stated turning back to Zack.

Sadira bowed her head the beads and clips she wore tinkling lightly. " I am honored. May the planet guide your steps and may the lifestream flow gently neath your feet," the cat replied in a ritualistic manner. " I am Sadira Ih'Rabi daughter of Haldr, your servant."

When that rather irritating man who had not deigned to answer her inquires sidled up beside the ancient Sadira did not exactly growl but her ears flattened against her head and her tail began lashing dangerously. It did help Sadira could hear what he whispered, she was a cat after all. She was just about to call him out when she felt a tug on her battle collar. Her head whipped around to behold one of the blonde men. Scent told her it was the one who hadn't been in the arena with her.

" Yes?" she questioned, the words holding an icy bite.

The man smiled brightly and suggested in an overly casual manner, " Garm and I were just about to go over to the even square. I heard there was a special show going on... it's about..... Warriors..... yes warriors... who... um... defend their homeland.... against............. evil.... evil monsters."

" Go on," Sadira said her curiosity piqued.

" Um... all the warriors are siblings and they fight side by side and I'm not sure how it ends," he finished.

Sadira brightened. Brave warriors of one family that fought for their homeland... it sounded like her family! She completely forgot the rude man and said decided, " I would like to see this show. Madame Cetra would you deign to accompany your servant?"

Zack paused in his attempts to 'stealthily' avoid catching Sephiroth's eye. But his attention was quickly grabbed when Thalon, the twins and the huge cat approached them. He frowned momentarily when Thalon whispered a warning to Aeris, his SOLDIER hearing and close proximity allowing him to pick up the words easily. Aeris however, seemed not the least disturbed and for a moment the young warrior turned to Sadira, "Well hello there kitty!" He said reaching down to pet her, "What brings a smart girl like you out here?" He grinned at her, but the expression quickly faltered at Aeris' next words. "Uh-uhhmmmm..." He glanced nervously into the arena... "I... well... I ... Y-yeah I guess, but that's not important!" He assured her quickly, "I'm just fine! No harm done at all!!" As if to emphasize his point he thumped his own chest. Looking for a quick distraction he latched onto the twins words, "Oh yeah Event Square! Hey Aeris! You wanna go?" throwing one more nervous glance into the arena he suddenly stiffened and gawked, "What? NO WAY!! That CAN'T be...." and he rushed to the edge of the stands, "This is CRAZY!!!" He yelled indignantly as his Mako-enhanced eyes locked on the General's next opponent.

Sephiroth's thoughts followed a similar track as Zack's as he stared into the red eyes of the beast before him, though more jaded by now it was a tired conviction to kill someONE that filled his stance. he'd been half-expecting something like this judging by the battles before but it still gave him a momentary settling of dispair as he gaped at the tonberry before him. It's skin was a dark purple the lantern filled with an eerie green light, and the vaugh impression of a star above it's bulbous head. A master tonberry... Sephiroth simply sighed, at least the thing was slow...

The twins managed to not let the overwhelming relief show on their faces once they had sold Sadira on the idea of the Event square. Fenrir did however let a small smile out at the possibility of Aeris accompanying them. He could surely make the move that would steal her away from Zack then. The only expression Garm had was a slight frown, wondering what would happen when they got to the Event Square and the cat found out there was no such show as the one Fenrir had just painted for her in glowing terms. He looked glanced over into the arena almost unconsciously checking if the general had caught sight of him again. Garm did not relish meeting the general again so soon. What he caught sight of entering the arena caused him to fly to the rail just as Zack had.

" They're mad!" he cried. Fenrir and Sadira were not far behind Garm. Sadira's tail swished angrily the blue flame starting to hint at purple.

" DISHONORABLE!" was the cat's loud comment. Fenrir felt the cat to be in distinct danger of repeating her earlier indiscretion and managed to tear his eyes away from the drama unfolding below to cast about for a method of securing the cat. As he had nothing on his person he looked desperately around until he noted Zack's outfit. "His sword belt might work," mused Fenrir.

" Hey, let me have that," he urged Zack while casting a nervous eye at the flicking tail of the cat warrior.

"Well, um..." She really would like to go, but Zack had wanted to do this, and there was that man to contend with. "What would you like to do?" She said smiling as sweetly as she could muster. She really couldn't ask him to give up his fighting match just for her. "Wait... are you just asking to go because you want to get away from that man? You shouldn't be a fraid of a bully like that, c'mon we can show him! We can report him to the higher ups!"

"Eh? What??" Zack paused to stare at one of the two blonds, who was gesturing at his belt and urgently asking for it. "Sorry man, I don't bend that way." Zack replied with a grin, a second later he noticed exactly why Fenrir had been asking for it, as the huge cat-thing braced to leap into the sands. "WHOA!!" In an instant Zack found himself diving for the thing, "DOWN kitty! Down! Good boy! Don't go making Sephy mad kay? He'll get mad at me and then the world will be deprived of the best thing ever to live in it." He blabbed as he wrapped his SOLDIER-strong arms around it's chest. Just when he thought things couldn't possibly get worse Aeris's comment registered, "What? ... WHAT are you TALKING about?" He could feel the blood draining from his face at the thought, "Sephiroth IS the highest up! No one else is gonna care about that. Don't worry, it's fine, I ..." He hesitated, quickly becoming tangled in his own earlier lies, "Eh... He.... I can take care of myself?" He ended weakly, He desperately wanted Aeris far away from Sephiroth, but he also didn't want the Giant cat making Sephiroth angry or losing him the match. Why couldn't there be easy decisions?

((Will Add Sephiroth's battle post later... ))

Sadira's leap was halted by the strong arms that suddenly clamped around her. The resistance brought her too herself, she recalled it had not gone well before. She glared at the babbling fool that was holding her back. Her ears twicked forward when he started explaining the status of the man fighting below. It appeared the person who had halted her headlong leap was in some trouble with that individual, and the lady ancient was inclined to help.

" He is a fearsome warrior," mused the cat looking at the fellow still gripping her. He was strong, but he did not seem to have the mind of a warrior he was surely no match for the silver haired man. " You may release me now, sir," she said coldly. " I apologize I sometimes allow my emotions to get the better of me, my worst fault as a warrior. I will not intrude upon the fight...." A thought then occurred to her. She couldn't interfere with the fight, but she could interfere with whoever was sending the monsters out. She looked over to the blond man who had helped her. " Where is the control booth?"

Fenrir was about to protest to Zack's assumption when the SOLDIER realized the danger and acted himself. It seemed like everything was under control when the cat seemed to realize something and calm down. Fenrir was about to sight with relief when Aeris suggested confronting Sephiroth. His voice joined in simultaneously with Zack's, "No, no! You don't understand! You can't just go up to Sephiroth and say stuff like that!" He was drawn away from the conversation when Sadira asked him the location of the control booth. This didn't bode well.... He had an idea what she wanted to do.... but didn't relish the idea of getting on the wrong side of the Gold Saucer.... he'd heard stories of what happened. He was thinking of how to distract her when Garm suddenly spoke up supplying the location of the control booth. He turned in horror to look at his twin.

" I know what you're thinking Fenrir, but I think she's right. Something's not right in that control booh." Turning to Zack he said, " Let go of the cat, we have business."

"Its possible." Shinrei replied with a shrug. "What kind of archeology is your dad specialized in? Is there any specific, like... time period or tradition he's really into?" He scratched his head thoughtfully. "I know my dad likes to collect antique swords and holy symbols."
