You should get some kind of hand-held audio recorder, they shouldn't be very expensive.

Hand held thermometers can be found loads of places. I saw one in Walmart the other day for under 20 dollars.

Infrared and thermal cameras might be a little more expensive, but I'm sure if you looked around you might find a decent price on one.

Finally, a camera. Personally I don't think it really matters what kind as long as you learn how to use it.

You should start with the digital thermometer, camera, and sound recorder. Those will be pretty cheap and easy to start out with.

In the end, study study study. Be able to explain and understand things. You'll need to know when it's just a technical failure or malfunction. Really play around with things and learn how they work, and whats common for them to do on their own before you go out hunting with them.
