Who: Rivener & Zul
When: Nightfall
Where: Botanical gardens in Gambino
Weather: Moderate, cool ocean breeze

This RP contains amorous, male Raevans. If you are easily offended, please do not read any further.

He couldn't get out of the truck fast enough.

The demon barely heard his woman's voice reminding him of what he already knew - she'd be down at the Lab doing some paperwork, when they were done, she'd take them both home, so on and so forth - the door closing before she was finished. Zul didn't have to look over his shoulder to see her shake her head with a tired smile. The rumble of the truck's engine revved behind him before disappearing down the dark and mostly abandoned street, the blanket of darkness sending the majority of the denziens elsewhere.

In hindsight, the Frei realized he'd been too excited, glancing at the retreating red glare of his woman's break lights. He should have brought something! A gift! But even then, Zul wasn't sure what. Sure, he could have brought some flowers for Rivener, but that almost seemed like overkill when they were at a botanical garden that likely had enough flowers to put anything he could find on such short notice to shame. Certainly there were other tokens of affection that weren't of the petaled variety? He'd have to consider that for next time. The thought was logical enough, and with a crooked smile, the Frei floated along the wrought iron gates of the garden.

He wasn't entirely sure exactly where he was supposed to meet Rivener, but he was certain the Scorpion would be able to find him with ease; the smoldering light of his central horn shifted with internal embers, his gorget and gloves still pulsing with veins of ice. Zul didn't exactly glow, but he certainly wasn't something to be missed if he was being sought out. His bone wings flapped a few times with bridled excitement, head turning to gaze down one side of the street and up the other, waiting for his 'date.'

Rivener spotted Zul much before the demon would see him, clearly. The Scorpion grinned. Zul was easy to see, with his glowing horn and accessories, so tempting and beautiful, like a candle drawing moths close... Rivener was only darkness, burgundy reds and pitch blacks, easily hidden in the gloom. Not only that, he'd not taken the usual way to get to his date; Zul was expecting Riv to come down the street "walking". Rivener had flown.

The Sigel dropped stealthily from the sky, landing behind his date with an elated smile that he quickly smothered in favor of his usual sultry smirk. "Hello, my Zuuuul," Riv spoke in sultry undertones, making sure to look suitably impressive, posing with a hand on his hip and looking the younger Raevan up and down. "Were you waiting long?" Riv floated closer and ran a finger along the demon's jawline, staring deeply into Zul's eyes.

The Scorpion was having a hard time keeping his nerves and excitement hidden. Their first real date! And they'd be breaking and entering! How exciting! Just the two of them among the flowers, private and perfect in the night-time light... Ohhh, Riv couldn't wait! "C'mon, let's go!" He slipped his hand down until he could lace fingers with the other's, tugging him along the side of the walls to a place less lit, less visible from the streets. Here he grinned and glanced around, making sure no one was watching. "Up we go!" he whispered, leading the way up and over the fence.

Zul's wings stiffened before tucking sharply against his back, allowing him to spin around without cuffing his date in that handsome, come-hither smile. The demon was sufficiently stunned into appreciative silence, admiring the figure that the Sigel cut in the darkness - all swathed in midnight itself, the crimson barely a shadow against the tan skin. "Mm-mm," the Frei replied intelligently, shaking his head only slightly, not wanting to risk even a fraction of a second of his eyes not being able to drink in the view. The Scorpion was in his element, and the night loved him to present him in such an irresistable manner.

Before he could consider just what it was he couldn't resist, Rivener's hands moved and he felt himself being tugged, obligingly following the elder Raevan's lead. The demon never once stopped to consider that what they were doing could be wrong; being one of the strongest Frei amongst them, he had no problem using his arms and a few strong pumps of his wings to carry him over the fence and next to his date. Zul gave the fence a brief backwards glance (he'd never done anything like that before, it was fun!) before his attention returned to their surroundings.

It was more of a cursory glance, to ensure that they were really the only two there, although he found himself suddenly overwhelmed by the scent of the greenery. And that's what it was - not just flowers, but trees and shrubbery that they'd just missed at their landing, the air thick with the scent of bloom, sap and an earthy something beneath. He was sure that the view was spectacular if he'd keep his wits about him enough to look, but there was something else far more important to worry about.

Zul turned to the Scorpion, arms lifting to curl around his shoulders and draw him down to him into a firm, insisting kiss. He'd never been demanding in their affection before, but he needed Rivener, just for a minute, to himself! He needed the reassurance of the Sigel's presence, even if he didn't really understand why. He held on for a long moment before pulling back a little, eyes lidding, the taste of the Scorpion on his lips easing the lonely tension he'd felt so acutely. "Missed you," he murmured in a low, smoky voice.
PostPosted: Sun Oct 25, 2009 1:43 pm

Rivener looked around once they landed, taking in the sight. Bushes, trees, a perfectly manicured lawn, a dainty little path meandering through the flowers... There'd be a lake somewhere in here, to show off the waterlilies and all that jazz... This was where Rivener wanted to go. It'd be so peaceful, with the moon and the city lights reflecting in the water, flowers all around... Riv had been about to move forward when he felt himself stopped, arms lacing about his shoulders and a pair of surprisingly insistent lips on his.

"Mh!" The Scorpion moaned in surprise for an instant before setting his own hands around the frei's body, holding him. The ruby eyes slid closed and Rivener kissed back for the short moment before Zul pulled away.

Riv's smile grew from a small, confused little thing to a broad, affectionate, really not as mysterious as it should be grin. "I missed you too, my Zul. So very very much. Come, let's wander. You can tell me what's been on your mind, you sounded so upset on the phone." With one clawed hand holding securely to a gloved one, Riv began floating leisurely to the path, following it down through the sparse trees. Riv could have been looking at all the beautiful scenery, but it didn't matter: all that stuff was just a perfect background for ZUL, after all. Riv didn't take his eyes off the demon.

With their fingers laced, the need in Zul was sated, content for the moment to float along the precisely lined walkways towards wherever it was Rivener was taking them. Blue eyes strayed only briefly towards what was in front of them, but predominately stayed upon the Scorpion, who was widely his source of comfort and strength for the moment. He still felt drained from the whole ordeal, and wasn't quite ready to talk about all of it yet.

"A lot...happened," he started a little uncertainly, glancing into the Sigel's crimson eyes. "Alix, she had to go out...far from here, a...a town of straw and mud." The Frei recalled the thatched houses and crumbling mortar buildings, although his vocabulary had not yet extended to such lengths as to describe it fully. Just thinking about it made his nose fill with the grime-ladden filth of the slums and the musty, rotten smell of some parts of the hotel they'd been in. He suddenly found the overwhelming presence of the greenery far more welcome.

Zul sighed, the tip of his ribbon quivering with the effort; had his body been more fully formed, it might have been bone-wary. "I went with her. They - the people there - terrible. So terrible. And cruel, to both of us." His eyes finally averted from Rivener, staring off into the distance, lifting his free hand to subconsciously touch the mark on his forehead. How did it make him a monster? It occured to him then that he should have asked Alex during their stay, as bringing it up after the fact would be difficult for both of them. Maybe he could do some research...

Rivener listened attentively, patiently, to everything the demon said. It was hard for the Scorpion not to bristle with anger at hearing that Zul and Alex had been treated horribly by what sounded like tribespeople. Houses of mud and straw? Far from here? Rivener didn't know people still lived in those kinds of places, but he assumed people who did weren't really the most culturally or socially aware people in the world. Backwater hicks, most likely. Rivener reined in his temper until he saw Zul reach up to touch his forehead.

Ah. Well that explained a little bit, Rivener figured. Those stupid red-neck bastards had thought Zul was a demon or something because of his mark? Sighing, frowning angrily at a situation he hadn't been able to prevent or protect his precious Zul from, Rivener turned to face his companion, tugging Zul to a stop as well. The frown melted to a look of concern, and the Scorpion raised his free hand to cup the side of Zul's face.

"They were idiots, Zul. It's all over now, you don't have to go back there. No one will be cruel to you here. I'm sorry I couldn't be there with you... I'd have beaten all their faces in." Riv frowned again, his wings rustling with contained aggression. Someone should pay for treating Zul like that.

That wasn't a very good way to console the frei, though. Riv should be calm and soothing, not angry. He sighed again and relaxed, leaning in to press a short, soft kiss to Zul's lips. "I'll listen to anything else you want to say, so don't hold back. Tell me everything, scream in anger if you have to, I will listen. It's best to let it all out, my precious Zul."

Blue eyes came out of their distant daze, turning upwards to be caught by Rivener's warm reds. Zul listened attentively to what the Sigel was saying, but he was paying attention to something else, too - namely, the way Rivener was reacting. He was surprised yet pleased that the Scorpion was so venemous about what had happened without the full story, already prepared to bash someone's head in. This kiss was certainly a soothing balm to the demon's uncertainty and healed emotional bruises.

And yet, despite the warmth, the Frei was wise enough to realize he was upsetting his date more than making himself feel better. The balance was not favorable, especially if it was going to cost his first date with his midnight-and-garnet companion. "The visit was bad," he said in a final type of manner, as if there was nothing else to speak of on it, "and not the worst of it." Zul paused, seaching Rivener's face. All he saw was concern, a stinger at his whim if he so desired; there was no blame, no doubt as he had thought there might be. Did those angry villagers really rattle him that badly? Or was he still doubting his 'innocence' in what he had done to Lorenzo?

Which meant...he wasn't ready to tell the truth about his deceased friend. "Can we talk about that later? I want to spend time with you." Zul didn't want to relive the last week and a half of his life again, least of all in the presence of the one he respected and sorely wanted to impress. "Tell me...what you have been doing?" He could hardly recall what they talked about last they saw each other, save for that single, four lette rword; that all seemed so long ago, now.

Rivener sighed and caressed softly at his demon's cheek when Zul went on to add that the trip, while bad, hadn't been the worst thing. As much as Rivener wanted to know what Zul meant, what could be worse, what had HAPPENED, he wouldn't press. Zul would tell him when he was ready, and if the frei wanted to NOT think about all that bad stuff tonight then Rivener would make it his business to keep the topic far away from all that.

Zul started them on the right track, asking Rivener about his own life. The pair began floating forward again, Riv's eyes straying to the path a moment to make sure they weren't about to walk into a tree or something. As he spoke he turned his gaze back to the Raevan beside him, however. "What I've been doing... Nothing much, actually. I've been buying things online, and trying to keep Eiry from going nuts. He's doing better. He used to be all depressed. And oh, Ebony Shade, a friend of Aphi's, got me a gift for some reason: a telescope! Do you know what that is?"

The Scorpion was suddenly very excited, his grin much more honest than sultry, his floating sway gaining more bounce than sexiness. "I played with a REALLY powerful telescope once, you know! The one Ebs got me isn't as strong, but it's still nice. The other one was SO powerful I could see galaxies with it! I took some pictures, I should show you sometime!"

Realizing he was losing his cool, Rivener cleared his throat and ran a hand through his hair, trying to regain his lost mystique. "Ah, yeah, so, uh. I have a telescope, no big deal. What about you, what have you been doing?"

The discomfort of speaking of his own harrowing escapades was lifted as Rivener took cue to start talking about himself. Zul was far more interested in hearing about the wonderful tale that was the Sigel's life; he was always so upbeat and excited about something, it made the demon long to be a more active part of Rivener's day-to-day activities. He was pretty sure that could only happen through 'love' - which could only happen through growth - and as such, was discontent to wait and imagine himself doing the things the Sigel spoke of.

"Telescope," he repeated, thinking. He knew it had to do something with distances and magnification, but the only thing he could think of off the top of his head was... "Like pirates?" Zul looked more pointedly to Rivener's face to weigh the response, but was pleasantly surprised to instead find something a little more different than usual. He'd seen a glimpse of the open, frank Raevan when their Guardians had gone on their date before; he hadn't been sure he'd really seen anything before, but to see it now made his chest ache in a wonderful way.

He watched the Sigel's animated features and listened to the cheerful tone of his voice, a small, admiring smile curving his lips. The demon found the excitement to be terribly endearing, to see that tiny, beautiful crack in the mysterious masque. A happy sounding chuckle escaped him as Rivener backtracked, deciding not to point out that they were avoiding discussing just what he'd been doing. "Missing you," he decided to settle on a breezy, playful tone. "Thinking of you and ways to make you happy."

Flowers, trinkets, dates - Zul had been absorbing everything he could to impress his Scorpion, hoping that in some form of understanding or knowledge, he would be able to grow and gain the illustrious butterfly-filled stomach.

Rivener had missed the comment about pirates, too absorbed in going on and on about his telescope. As far as the Scorpion was concerned, Zul knew what a telescope was since he hadn't asked, and therefore Rivener saw no need to explain. They could move on from that before Riv made a fool of himself any further.

The Sigel's smile widened at Zul's very suave reply to the "what you've been doing" question. Of course Riv knew they wouldn't be talking about all the bad stuff, but surely Zul had been doing other things! No video games, no movies, only talk of missing Rivener and thinking of ways to please him all day long? The frei was probably exaggerating, but Rivener still felt incredibly flattered. He hoped he wasn't blushing.

"Really, that's all you've been doing?" He chuckled softly, glancing down with a rather shy smile, certain that he WAS blushing now. Jeez, what was he, a prepubescent girl?! Clearing his throat to get control of himself, Riv raised a hand to run through his hair again, something he did to stall for time apparently. "That's really flattering, Zul. So tell me, what did you come up with, hm?"

The Sigel saw a small sign at the fork in the path just ahead, and he subtly guided Zul down the leftmost side. They'd be at the lake soon, according to that sign. It would be the most romantic place, certainly!

The demon considered the first question seriously, pursing his lips. It'd hardly been a week since they'd brought Louie home, and most of the time he'd spent...mourning. Trying to stay out of Alex's way. Neither of those things sounded like something that would spark good conversation or keep that charming smile on Rivener's lips. Zul's eyes flickered lower for a brief moment before the next question came, prompting his attention to return to the Sigel.

He followed the subtle turn and once again took a quick glance around. Everything seemed so placid and neat, even the pathway rather clean and etched as if it too were topiary to be formed by man's hand. The night cast a dark veil over all the green, although the lights that did show gave a remarkable aesthetic edge to the plants with color. He wondered if Rivener knew where they were going, and if he had had this planned out...?

Zul felt slightly inadequate, and that could only mean one thing - he'd try even harder. "More flowers," he remarked, slightly in jest, and slightly not, "and...gifts." He purposely left it vague, not wanting to spoil the surprise of possibly finding just the right thing to spring on him! "Where I'd like to go out with you, but...that's hard. I want to be everywhere with you." The Frei lifted his free hand, each gloveless digit extending as he chipperly named off perfectly mundane places that would have been an adventure with the Sigel, "Grocery stores, the beach, your house, coffee shops, malls..."
PostPosted: Tue Oct 27, 2009 1:54 pm

Rivener grinned slightly at the mention of more flowers, rustling his wings at the subsequent mention of gifts. Rivener did so love gifts! But for one of the first times, Riv would be just as pleased being the one doing the giving. Zul was simply so precious to him! To think that the Demon had spent so much time considering his Scorpion suitor! If that wasn't love, Rivener would be damned surprised. Both of them, constantly thinking of ways to make the other smile...

The Sigel chuckled softly at the places Zul listed off. He'd never thought grocery stores and coffee shops were exciting, but he suddenyl felt all abuzz considering those places. He'd feel abuzz considering the dirty back alleys of the slums if Zul was there with him! "I want to be everywhere with you, too. If we can get Alex and Aphi to visit more often and really fall for one another, maybe we COULD be everywhere together. That would be so wonderful!" Riv couldn't help it: he purred happily and tugged Zul into a short hug, even wrapping his wings around the frei possessively.

The pause in their walk allowed Rivener to take in their surroundings as he let go: Ah, there was the lake! Just past these trees, Riv could see hints of the water glittering in the city lights. "C'mon, this way!" he cooed, floating over the grass without heed to the path, heading for the shore.

Ohhh, Riv had been right to peg the lake as romantic. The pair of Raevans emerged from under a willow tree, the hanging boughs caressing at their hair, to see the beautiful, velvet-dark, crystalline lake spread out before them. It was large enough, with waterlilies dotting the shore line. A small bridge nearly covered by some variety of white and yellow flowering vine crossed the thinnest past of the expanse nearby. Perfectly kept grass lined the lake all around, the path winding around to their left in an unobstructed view. The Scorpion slowed to a stop and slowly smiled broadly, turning besotted eyes to his companion. "Wow."

A small, dark brow lofted at Rivener's claim, blinking a few times. What did their Guardians have to do with anything? "What--" he started to ask just that, but was more than happy to snap his mouth shut in favor of the hug. The Sigel's wings were all warmth and gentle pressure around him, his own wings rubbing their bone frames against the knotted red. Zul felt an odd sense of power and trust between them, that those stingers would wrap around him in affection and not malice.

As bid, the Frei dutifully followed the elder Raevan, a small, almost silly smile on his face. He'd follow Rivener into the ocean for those hugs and sweet moments! The demon was so enraptured in watching his Rivener's profile as he was floating by his side that he didn't immediately look at the lake, instead echoing the Scorpion's sentiment with a grin, "Wow." Zul did turn his blue eyes out over the scenery after they stopped - and was more puzzled than anything. It looked like they had walked right into children's program, which was both mildly confusing and rather remarkable to the Frei.

He tentatively floated closer to the surface of the lake, the grass whispering against the curl of his ribbon. The Raevan's gaze remained downards so as not to float in to the lake (he didn't want to break the moment with shots of boiling ice), although what he saw as he crested the slightly rock-lined body of water was enough to make him stop anyway. It was just still enough in that moment that the lake's surface was placid and without ripples, perfectly mirroring the stars above. Zul gaped a little as he tilted his head back, eyes greeted with the canopy of night that had come out during their little excursion.

"Wow," he repeated, this time in earnest. He stared unblinkingly at the night sky before turning to Rivener, arms slipping through the Sigel's jacket to embrace the bare skin beneath. Grinning, Zul tilted his head back to regard his dear Rivener, all but purring, "You did all this for us?" He didn't mean the trimming and throwing the stars into the sky, of course, but he would have believed the Sigel if he said he'd done that. The set up was perfect, and smugly, he was certain their first date was easily outdoing his woman's by a long shot.
PostPosted: Tue Oct 27, 2009 6:12 pm

Rivener had hung back slightly as Zul ventured out nearer the water, although the very tips of the Scorpion's fingers remained firmly connected to the frei's palm. His eyes softened to molten pools of lava and his smile did the same. The Demon looked so damned handsome, slowly advancing like that to the still lake, his rune reflecting in the water... Zul's shock-blue eyes turned up to the stars and Rivener could have stopped breathing if he hadn't paid attention.

Riv was at Zul's side again in time to feel the demon slip his hands under the Scorpion's jacket. Augh, the pads of Zul's fingers across Rivener's body was making the butterflies go crazy inside the Sigel's stomach! Riv's breath hitched again from it! He struggled to breathe as he chuckled at Zul's question. "Maybe I did, and maybe it's all an accident," Riv replied mysteriously, true to his smoldering, seductive self-image.

The Scorpion had an idea and he decided to just go with it. He leaned in close and kissed softly at Zul's earlobe, whispering: "Have you ever danced, Zul?" Without waiting for a reply, smiling his honeyed smile, Rivener pulled away and floated over the water itself, keeping his ribbon well out of the water. The glow from his rune was much more visible in the still lake, and he tugged Zul along with him by gripping both hands under his jacket. "Come. It's like a slow chase. You move when the music lets you..." It was hard to explain, so Riv hoped he could show through their bodies.

Once they reached the middle of the lake, Rivener slipped one arm around Zul's body and the other arm held onto Zul's hand. Smiling, Riv began humming the first song that came to mind, slowly moving to the music and hoping Zul would follow; chase him slowly.

Light laughter returned the vague answer, giving the Sigel a wide and easy grin. "I'm flattered," he responded; either way, it was quite a feat and only made beyond fantastic by the Scorpion's hand in it all. Zul wanted to learn from the experience that Rivener had set up for them, but he seemed to be having a difficult time pulling his attention away from those smoldering eyes. The world could turn on its axis for years and the demon would not have noticed.

A thrill went through his exposed spine at the kiss, another quick, jaunty grin tugging at his lips. "No," he admitted, although he didn't voice his desire to do so. Ever since he'd seen his woman skating across the hardwood floors in her socks and dancing to the iPod in her hand, he'd been fascinated with the motion of the human body. One of the first things he wanted to do when he grew was dance, or at least, learn how to move his hips in a way that wasn't blocky and stiff like most of the male gender seemed to exhibit.

He was utterly complacent. Even being tugged over the lake did little to alarm him, naturally light as he was. His arms were put into position, the demon recalling old movies that started with such a similar pose and that lead into spinning and dipping, but he didn't do anything but watch Rivener with wide, eager eyes. A long ear twitched at the soft humming coming from the Scorpion, his eyes flicking downwards as Rivener moved - the curve of the other's ribbon, the sway of hips, and the demon was sufficiently mesmorized.

Zul turned his gaze back up to Rivener, catching onto the tune rather quickly (he had his musical games to thank for that) and moving in the slightest. His ribbon brushed against the Sigel's as he eased just a little closer, wishing he could feel the movements that his partner was making. His attempt at dancing was a bit slow and slightly awkward as he tried to find the gap between what Rivener was capable was and he could not yet perform. Despite his inability to dance fully just yet, he was not discouraged, excited to learn. "Sounds nice," he murmured softly, enjoying the rich sound of music Rivener was offering up for them.
