Click clack...

The soft clicking could be heard from the lanky wolf's various beads and rings. Her mate, a strange hooded fellow, strode beside her, and she occasionally butted his shoulder with the top of her head. They were scouting, just outside the borders of their home pack, and she was lagging behind a bit now.

It was obvious something was nibbling away at her, bothering her. She kept opening her mouth and taking a breath, as though she needed to speak, but couldn't find the words - but she had to tell him soon. Every time ended the same way, with her closing her mouth and letting her breath out through her nose, and glancing nervously at the ground. She wasn't sure, just wasn't sure.

They were South East of the packlands now, and coming up on the river that flanked the whole Eastern side. "Let's stop for a drink and a rest?" she proposed, nosing his cowl back and licking his cheek. She was getting winded now, and was afraid it would start to show. She didn't want him to worry about her, as she knew her reason for being a bit more weak these days.

Since she had come back and been around Stryder more, she had... 'fattened up' so to speak. She had been scrawny in her travels as a vagabond, searching the forests for stories to tell and wolves to meet, but now that she was eating regularly with a pack she was a bit more than skin and bones. It helped to hide her swelling belly, but wouldn't for much longer. By the weight she was packing on, she realized that there might be a few more than two or three in there, and they were surely kicking around now. It would be so much better if he knew, and she didn't have to hide everything around him...

Hmmm...

The spotted wolf was lost. She hadn't seen anything familiar for miles, but she was following the river, so she figured at least she could follow her way back South... back home. She wasn't quite sure what she was even doing - she had never traveled this far away from home before, but something she had encountered with South Seaside had made her want to start her traveling early. She had informed Ghede of her decision and promised to return soon, and had set out the next morning - interrupting her sleep pattern in the process.

The river cut a nice path through mountainous regions, and she took in the sights contentedly, happy to see new things. If she looked far enough, she could make out blankets of white on top of the highest peaks.

After a while, the river she had followed met with another river, and she stood at the fork in the road, deciding whether to go North or South. It was an amazing sight, seeing such large powerful rivers meeting and separating out again like this, and she sat for a moment, taking it all in. It had taken her a long time to get here, and she was hoping to find what she was looking for soon, before she decided it was time to turn and head back home.

Finally deciding to go North, she gave one last glance Southward and took off, tail trailing behind her like a flag in the wind. There was nothing like running alongside the river!

Later in the day, the small femme began picking up on brain activity from something besides prey animals. Wolves were near, and lots of them! At least seven to ten, and all grouped in a very tight bunch. She wondered briefly if they were friendly before heading straight in their direction. Hopefully she could figure out where she was, and take a rest in a more safe area.

User ImageThe hooded muzzled wolf traveled, scouting the pack boundaries with his mate. She always brought a soft heat to him, that loving feeling. He couldn't help the smile and the nuzzles into her neck when she butt his shoulder. It filled him with such joy. And just think! A family, pups on the way!

But something was wrong with his mate, Schatze. Though she butt his shoulder with her head, and took his nuzzles in without rejecting them... she seemed still distant. It sometimes worried Stryder to no end, after all what if... could Venda's visions be wrong? What is Schatze wanted to leave him?

But as she slowed down and wanted some water Stryder worried. She seemed tired, faster than usual. Was her health bad? Did something happen? Stryder moved forward as she drank and licked her cheek.

Should he ask?

"Schatze," He murmured, "Is something..." Stryder trailed off, an unknown scent wafting through his nose. It didn't smell like any of the pack he knew. It wasn't prey either... it smelled liked another wolf.

And it was coming straight here.

As she lapped at the cool water, her ears flicked forward. He was asking about her... strange behavior. But he stopped before he could get the entire question out, and for a moment she wondered why he had gone silent.

"What is it?" she asked, slinking a bit and looking up at him. Her ears swiveled and she realized she could smell a strange wolf. Defuse the fight... if there was to be one. She wasn't going to get twisted up in a battle in her condition...

The wolf, usually ready for a fight, repositioned herself behind her mate. Now to wait.

The wolf snorted quietly as she came closer to the bunch. It seemed to be much fewer wolves than she had originally thought, but still enough to attract her attention.

When she finally saw the lone pair, her head was pounding. There was an odd feeling about them, and she STILL felt at least four other presences near. When she was sure she had caught visual attention from the pair, she sent out a blanket feeling of peace to caress their minds. She meant no wolf harm, and was only curious about other packs, as well as the land.

She wanted to make sure the feeling had taken hold before coming any closer, and though her head hurt, she kept it up. "Hello!" she tossed out verbally, pawing the ground a bit and moving slightly closer so that they didn't have to yell at each other to be heard.

Stryder stared, his gaze unwavering on the unknown. He wondered at the strageness of how Schatze decided to move behind him. Definitely something odd was going on but that wasn't the priority here. The priority, though he wished it were Schatze, was this unknown.

This unknown seemingly female she-wolf coming straight toward him and his mate. Which was quite odd. He had felt every piece of fur rise and his muscles tense. But... now it seemed a bit weird. He didn't feel all too tense as he had before but he was pretty sure he was as alert as ever. He wasn't interested in a physical battle, not wanting Schatze hurt while acting so strangely, but he had to protect her and made sure of the intentions of this stranger in the lands.

"Hello stranger," Stryder called. "A bit rude, to not introduce yourself where you don't belong."

Stryder paused, "My name is Jaeger. This is my mate Sunbird. Who are you, and what is your purpose in lands where you aren't supposed to be?"

"Greetings~" the female answered back, feeling quite comfortable suddenly, enough to sit down anyway. She was all at once taken aback at how rude Stry-- Jaeger seemed to be acting towards the stranger. "Calm down, Love, I'm sure she's lost?"

She wasn't sure what to do now, but she had offered a greeting, and had sat down. She felt much better now that she was sitting, and not trying to hold up her newfound weight. Things would be alright, she could feel it.

The smile fell off her face. Had it not worked? The hooded male seemed a bit irate, but then again, she realized she was on a pack's land now and felt a chill run down her spine.

Suddenly, she felt embarrassed, and worked hard to keep that emotion to herself and not broadcast it to the others. She was just a teen, still, and didn't mean to offend or cross a line. "I'm so sorry." she muttered, backing up and hunkering down in a more submissive position.

"My name is Shiva, and I come from the ocean. I followed the river North and found myself here..." she trailed off a bit, processing the names he had given. They weren't right, if she was hearing things correctly. Neither wolf truly believed the names, there was a trace of difference that was confusing.

"I have no excuse for not realizing I was crossing your borders, I... " she faltered yet again. She HAD a purpose for being here. Something was REALLY off and she wasn't quite sure what was going on. "Please trust me - someone is sick, and... I thought they were right here, where you stand."

She realized as she was closer to the pair, that the 'other wolves' seemed so tiny, and just flickers of life could be detected. She had never encountered a pregnant creature before, but she mused now that this might just be the case. The female seemed to be acting strange, and the male protective - was it safe to assume such things?

It was so tiny... and so sick. She would need to get Ket here, very quickly, if she was right.

The hooded wolf wasn't in the mood or the mindset to attack, but it irked him that his mate was so... passive with an intruder. Was the strangeness affecting her? Was this why she was so odd lately? Was... was Venda's vision true? Would it be true?

Stryder was too preoccupied, worried over his mate's strangeness, it was more than what should be his heightened alertness. He let the tense feelings slide away. He wasn't too too worried about this young wolf anymore. It didn't seem like this Shiva was much of a threat to Schatze or the Tomkin lands.

"You should be more careful, almost surprising other wolves," Stryder scolded gently. She was just a young one, not quite a pup not quite an adult.

Stryder's gaze wandered to eye Schatze before looking back at the closer than before Shiva. "What do you mean sick?"

Stryder was panicked, and worried. Was it true. Maybe Shiva's strangeness... meant she was sick!

'May I tell him?' she pleaded towards the female, and waiting for thoughts in answer. She received them almost instantly - the female was frightened now, and Shiva could almost taste it, the feeling was so thick. She fought hard to keep the fear down, to keep it from washing over her own mind and crippling her in her duty to this small family.

"The female is pregnant, one of them is sick..." her ears dropped, she hated giving bad news, but it was her duty. "I know a shaman, I can get him here for the birth, if your alpha will allow us safe passage and shelter for the duration." She didn't want to step on anyone's toes, but there wasn't anything else she knew to do now.

She felt the panic from the male, but didn't know what to do now. She had given them the knowledge, and now hoped they would make the right decision on what to do.

He didn't know what he'd do if Schatze was sick. Who would he go to? He didn't know what wolves in the wild did when sick. He never had been after all, it would have been a weakness, something the pale light skinned two-leggers would have taken advantage of.

Stryder paused. Schatze was pregnant! A joyous feeling overwhelmed him. Venda was right! She had seen the future after all! Stryder turned to Schatze but paused. He swung his hooded head back to the strange young she-wolf, Shiva right? ... A pup was sick? But... but..

Stryder pondered, would Wraith be willing to allow a shaman into his pack area? He might be, but Stryder didn't dare want to assume.

"I will go to my alpha. I will ask for your and your shaman friend's safe passage, so long as you help my pups." Stryder paused. It hurt his pride to have to say this. "Please. I'll go now."

Stryder turned, giving Schatze a worried look and nuzzled her face and licked her muzzle. He breathed onto her, gently, and turned to go back to the caves where he first met his alpha.

((If you can make a post here ish? Or I can ask Dae if Dae would like to get in with a small reply so Aguta and Stryder can meet together.))

Schatze felt ill, now, and quite distressed. She knew something had felt off, call it mother's intuition. She nuzzled her mate in return, and pushed him gently in the direction of their dens, where Wraith might be found.

"Go, I'll stay with her here." she implored him.

The young seer stayed her respectable distance away, and nodded in agreement with the plan. She hoped that this pair's alpha would be willing to allow herself and the shaman safe passage, for the sake of new life in the pack.

"I'm sorry you didn't get to tell him the good news yourself..." she ventured to the other wolf, softly.
