It had been what seemed like forever. Though really it was only a few days. Cetus walked a little faster then usual. He knew the way to the plateau by heart now. It was the best place to watch the stars. And it was hard to get to if you didn't know the way.
He was early. The sun was barely setting. It would still be a little while before the stars came out. Before Harley was supposed to be here. He lay down, and looked up at the sky. Not so much as a single white puff of cloud. He smiled. It would be perfect tonight.
And so, he waited for Harley.

Harley walked in the directon of the hill slowly. She wasn't sure about this anymore. Sure, she wanted to see Cetus...of course she did. They girl was in love, or so it seemed. But there was a bit of something new and she was a little worried on how he would take it.
Still, it had to be done and Harley hopped Cetus would be okay in the end. "Come along!" She called to the little one following her and she didn't mean Jester who was sitting on her shoulder.
A small slug boy walked behind his mom. This was it...the day he met his dad. Well, this was scary. He hoped that his dad liked him. Menkar was also excited to see the stars. He was named for one and his mom loved to call him, "Little Star". Along with him was Mira. She didn't talk much but she was nice.

Cetus had nearly dozed off waiting. It was peaceful up here. He was nodding off, his head bobbing slightly when he heard footsteps. He was instantly awake and standing. He shook himself to get the rest of that drowsy feeling out of his system. After a quick stretch, he turned towards the footfalls. He saw the familiar green horns, the striped hair, the white face more beautiful then the moon...!
But what was that? A second set of horns? Tiny orange ones, and a little blond head? He was staring as this child walked into view. He had one violet eye like his mothers, but the other eyes. They were green, much like his own. And those tell tale spots up the boy's legs. Cetus's eyes shot to Harley, tilting his head slightly. Was this really his child?

Harley saw Cetus and her heart began to race. It felt like it hadn't been very long and yet it had been some time. Still she was so happy to see him that the nervousness she had felt was lifted. "Hello, Cetus. Ah, this is Menkar. Our...son." She smiled and hoped it was okay.
Menkar walked up to Cetus with a nod. "Hello." he then bowed his head as he wasn't sure what else to say. Not yet anyway. The boy was excited for this night.

That was a surprise. No, more of a shock. He wasn't sure what to do as he looked at the little boy. Slowly though, a smile tugged at his lips and he lowered his head to the boy and gently rubbed his head against the child's. "Hello there." He wasn't sure exactly what to do. Not like he was really that good with children. His other child barely spoke to him when they saw each other. Though the child barely spoke at all. He slowly looked back up at Harley. "Our son? ...Our son!" He didn't know what else to say as he looked at her, then back to the boy.

Harley couldn't help but nuzzle Cetus and then Menkar herself. "Yep, our little star." She smiled down at the little slug boy with a nod. He was their. Wonderful. "Now explain that to my dad." He giggled.
Menkar enjoyed his nuzzle from his dad. That was good, right? "Ah, nice to meet you." He said with a soft voice. If he could get through this then he could get through meeting his grandpa.

That was not something he had thought of. "Your father?" Oh sheesh! He was in for it now... er... later when they went to explain this little guy. "Ah... mmmm... Well..." He had to take a moment to regain himself. "You know, the stars are coming out now." He smiled, looking up. "So, you've been named Menkar, hmmm?" He slowly lay down beside the boy and Harley, inviting them to join him. "In a few months, we'll be able to see the star you are named for. I'll make sure you see it. If you'd like that is."
Now that the other demons were here, Kaitos was inspecting them. He remembered Jester, but Mira? What a strange looking thing this was! So Kaitos began busying himself with inspecting the strange familiar.
"They seem to be getting along." Cetus mused.

Harley laughed a little. "Well we'll have to one day. He'll want to meet you." Harley knew her father would want to approve of her 'love' before she could have one...she hoped Cetus would be him.
Harley pushed her son forward before sitting next to Cetus. "Oh, yes that's wonderful!" The looked up to the sky. Cetus was right they were coming out now.
Jester just flew around not really doing much.
Menkar sat down in between the two. "Oh, yes I would like to." He smiled up at his father before looking up at the sky. He had no idea you couldn't see all the stars all the time.
Mira looked at the other familiar and winked. That looked odd on a squid-y plant-y girl

"So... has your father met our little wonder yet?" He was a little worried about that, but decided that now was not the time to dwell on that. He shook his head. "Menkar, do you like the stars? I love to watch the night sky." He looked to Harley then Menkar. "If you see a shooting star, make a wish on it."

"Oh, well no not yet. You were first, of course." Harley smiled and nodded. It would have been odd for her to tell anyone else before she told the father.
Harley looked up at the sky. Make a wish? She didn't' really need to. "All my wishes have come true."
Menkar began to look to the sky. There was still some reds, oranges and yellows left from the sunset. It was a lovely site. Still, he could see them. Small pin points of light. The stars.

Cetus smiled, leaning over and nuzzling Harley. "Thank you." He spoke softly. It seemed strange to him to thank her, but the fact that she had brought their son to see him first, before even her own parents spoke volumes to him. He purred softly and watched Menkar as the boy looked at the sky. His little eyes seemed to be jumping from one star to the next. Sometimes, Cetus wondered if he saw the same shapes humans did in the stars.
"Right there..." Cetus pointed with one claw "Is what the humans call 'Aquila.' For some reason, they think it looks like a bird." He traced his claw along the path the stars took, wondering if they saw it too. "It will be on the horizon over there in about 2 months when we'll see the constellation of Cetus, and the star Menkar." He lowered his paw and chuckled a little. "I don't know if you find this as interesting as I do." He said to his family.
Family? There was an interesting notion. To settle down and have a family? Meaningful relationships, and not just chasing any pretty female with 4 legs. This should prove... Fascinating

Harley nuzzled him back with a smile. She watched as Cetus showed they one of the constellations. She turned her head back and forth to try and see a bird, but that's not really what she saw. "I see a butterfly."
Menkar looked as well. He hadn't seen many birds or butterflies yet so to him he could only see the stars in a pattern. It was very pretty, however. He liked to watch them twinkle.
