Sonata hummed delightedly to herself as the thermals of warm air carried her high into the sky. This valley had to be one of her favorite places to be. The way the warm inland air reacted when thrust into the valley's narrow channel created powerful updrafts, with enough force to carry even a soquili straight up for hundreds of feet. She laughed as she flew into one, and watched things on the ground all become tiny specks as she was thrust higher and higher. She imagined she was about the size of a dot up here, from onlookers on the ground.
Lazily, she glided about, having no particular place to be, and no particular place she wanted to go. Her humming gradually became singing. She sang for no real reason, other than she enjoyed creating and liked the way others reacted to her voice. Only there was no one up here to hear her song today, but that was okay.

Swellow's wings were still "clipped" so to speak. His heart still blue from the heartbreak that ground soquili had put him through. His magnificent wings lay limp along his back as he walked under the trees, the quiet valley being a small solitude for him in his depression.
"I couldn't have made a bigger mistake...could I...well I wouldn't do that again...you wont see me make a fool of myself again..."
Swellow said slightly angered at himself, his voice carried upon the winds and just as suddenly as he muttered these angry words he found himself perking his ears and turning his head. He could hear the most beautiful voice it sounded like the wind and the valley was singing to him.
"Hello?"
He looked around the ground trying to find the source of the beautiful music. Not once even thinking about looking up.

Sonata noticed a blue shape on the ground searching for something among the forest. Looping in the air she dropped a couple hundred feet, and saw it was a wind soquili, with wings similar to hers! She started to drop to the ground, then stopped, confused. This other wind soquili looked so sad... his wings lay limp, and his head hung low. She frowned, straining her ears to hear what he was muttering.
Hm... I wonder what sort of mistake could make someone so sad, and not wanting to make a food out of himself...
Sonata's brows came together as she frowned. Surely no mistake was so great you couldn't recover from it. Maybe a bit of song would cheer the poor fellow up. Feeling slightly ironic, she started to sing what she called the 'Blue' song. The other soquili looked so sad, maybe this would make him laugh. "I'm blue, da ba dee da ba di, da ba di da ba di, da ba di da ba di..."

Hearing a voice, that couldn't have been the wind or even the valley singing to him. It was too crystal too beautiful...but where was it coming from. His head turned instinctively to the sky and could see another figure, it was coming down from the clouds. The sun shimmering around this figure making it look almost heavenly. Hearing the voice brought him back to reality it was a mare...and one that seemed to have a sense of humor. He chuckled slightly, before turning to face where this mare would land.
"Keep your guard...women are temptresses they trap and kill..."
He muttered softly to himself just to hopefully keep his dignity that he still believed he had.

Sonata grinned as the other wind soquili finally noticed it was she who was singing. She alighted down on the ground, giving her wings a good shake as they felt a little stiff after so much flying. She remembered caution. She knew nothing about this stranger, though strange he was. His plumage reminded Sonata of an actual bird, a swallow was it? His wings were curious, like hers, though not quite the same shape or size. She liked how his hair hung in floppy, disorganized chunks over his forehead and crest. Overall he didn't pose a threat, so after her analysis Sonata grinned and said cheerfully, "Hello there stranger. I see my song has put a smile on your face."

Swellow smiled suavely and nodded his head in a manner of respect.
"Well I'm not sure m'lady...I'm not sure if a voice so beautiful could come from anything of this world...and yet here before me stands an angel who claims to have such a voice."
He smirked, if experience had taught him anything about women it didn't show now, his need to impress the ladies took over and he found himself just as suave and debonair as always.
"Ah..but where are my manners...My name is Swellow...but I'm sure such an angel such as you has a more refined and beautiful name."
He said with a smile and a bow

Sonata resisted the urge to snort with laughter. It seemed to her that the poor fellow, unhappy as he was a moment ago, was now trying to win her over with flattery. She wasn't immune to it, not by a long shot, but she did find it humorous. And this stallion, Swellow, did have quite a way with words. With a cocky grin on her face, she said, "Not an angel, though I may be less trouble for my parents if I had been born one. My name is Sonata." Playing the part she sank into a gracious bow.
As courteous as she was, an uncontrollable curiosity as to why Swellow had been so down just a few moments ago urged her to find out. But she would wait, surely the truth would reveal itself in time.

"Sonata..."
He clicked his tongue slightly, he could tell that she was trying very hard not to dismiss him but her laughter made him wince slightly, perhaps he really shouldn't have said what he did. He couldn't help it though...he had always been like this. He smiled slightly to mask his being upset at her laugh,
"well Sonata that is a very lovely name. I don't see that you could ever be a handful for your parents."
He cocked his head to the side and stretched his wings out.
"I..I'm sorry...if I made you uncomfortable..."
He finally said without prompting.
