Early morning had greeted Claude with warm rays of sunlight. As usual Sweet was already awake and doing his chores with the other two leggers. He stretched his wings with a yawn as Nen lay a blanket over his back. Today was the day they hunted. It was early, yes, but he loved it when he hunted with Nenharma. Breakfast was first, and so, prepared for the hunt, with weapons tied to his flanks and blankets to cushion Nenharma, he plucked an apple from the basket. Nothing to heavy to weight him down. He was in no way evil, and did not enjoy bloodshed. But the satisfaction in providing for his caretakers far out weighed the regret. And they used every part, as was normal for two leggers. Claude and his family slept on blankets made from the hides, and Nenharma and her family ate the meat. They traded the fine jewlery made from the bones for weapons and tools.
Nenhmara broke into his thoughts and he sleepily listened to her tell him that she still had chores to do. He was free to wander if he so wished. He nodded and nudged her affectionatley before departing down the mountain side. He knew what he had to listen for. She'd call him with a conch she'd found down by the beach. It was how they were all called home. Gingerly he stepped down the mountain side as he refelcted on the comforting normalcy he'd missed while he was away training. If he flew, which he wished he could, all of Nenharma's blankets and weapons would be lost. And so, foot was really the only way. Perhaps he'd visit the lake for a while. Wade a little in the cool water to wake up. Yes... that sounded lovley.

Nearby the lake, a young foal was exploring the unfamilliar lands. Her parents had allowed her to explore a little just as long as she didn't go too far out of ear shot from them in case she needed them or vise versa. However, the young unicorn may have ventured too far without meaning to since she could no longer see the older soquili and her siblings. She wasn't too worried. She could easily backtrack and find them quickly as long as they hadn't moved far away. Zareen felt a little uneasy about not being near them, but she didn't want to be clingy and knew they deserved a break. Looking around all by herself was exciting too. From where she was she could see the mountain side. From where she was standing it was such a nice view of them. One day, maybe one day, she could be strong enough to be able to venture up the mountains by herself.

Claude ambled tiredly up to the base of his mountains. His wings were a blessing, though he felt like walking home that day. The peace and cool of the early evening had done wonders for his aching body, as well as the previous swim. It was just another few feet until he reached the path that lead to his mountain top home. Of course, imagine his surprise when he came across a foal at the base of it. He chuckled and neared slowly. "What is a child like you doing so far intothe woods," he asked gently. He flittered his wings a little, the evening breeze ruffling the feathers. "I'm realitivley sure that no family live around here," he went on as he reached the foal, laying down to make himself more eye level with her.
So this was a uni foal, he noted. He peered curiously at her horn before he focused his attention back on her. "If you're lost, I'd be more than hapy to help you find your way back home.

Zareen opened her mouth as if to gasp as the adult soquili spoke to her, but no sound came out. She was wary of strangers who were older than her and wasn't completely sure what to do. He did seem nice though... Her yellow eyes looked up at the others wings. Her father had wings too, but this soquili's wings reminded her of bird wings. "Uhm.... I'm not lost. My parents took me on a walk and decided to rest. They said I could explore a little as long as I didn't go too far so they're right over.... over..." She paused and turned around to find the spot she had come from. "T-...There!" She gestured her head to the right, but then froze for a moment. She looked to the left. "No! Over there! Really...." She looked up at the other and her ears had folded down. Oh no... She did forget the way after all. Hopefully the adult wouldn't notice. Zareen however wasn't hard to read. Her expression showed her helplessness completely. "You... You'd know how to find my parents...?" Zareen cast her gaze down to her hooves.

Claude felt very bad about making the young one feel scared. He held out his wing gently and nodded up the mountain. "If you'll come with me, I'd be happy to inform Genevive that you need help. She'll fly over the forest and find your family. She has excellent vision." He smiled softly and tossed his mane. "My family and I live a top the mountain, you'll be safe there." Yes, he realized how that sounded. That was how evil Soquili got children into thier lairs. Of course, he had no intention of doing anything but making the filly comfortable, but how was she to know that? He searched in his head for something to say to make her trust him, but he could only think of one thing. "I give you my word as a Knight, Little One." He forced a smile, hoping that she would trust him. Honesly, in her position, he would trust him.

Zareen's eyes slowly rose from her hooves and she looked over at his wings. Part of her wanted to reach out and tough it, but she felt uneasy. She wanted to say something about them, but the lump in her throat was preventing much from coming out. "Genevive?" She asked quietly. Did he really know someone who could find her family that easily? Hopefully this wasn't a trick. She rose her head up and tried to force herself to look the other in the eye. Zareen wanted to trust this soquili. He seemed very nice. Not all strangers could be bad, right? The last thing he had said seemed so convincing, but it also confused her. "W-whats a knight?" She had never heard such of such a thing.

Claude nodded. "She's my longest and most trusted friend. She was there all through my training. She's shrewd, yes, and not very fond of anyone. I think she only just tolerated me." He chuckled and tossed his mane a little. "But she's sweet, and I have confidence in her that she will find your parents easily." He saw her unease and sighed softly. Maybe Genevive was close enough he could just call her. He didn't want to make this any more hard than it was. This poor thing had already lost her parents, she didn't need to worry about strangers. He was pulled from his thoughts by her next question. He smield gently and said, "A knight is someone who work to do good for others. They fight bad things, protect good things, and help out whever they're needed. Like now." He smield gently and looked up. "Genevive," he called.
A red hawk swooped from the canopy and landed gently on his back. "Sir," she chirped. Claude nodded to her and turned to Zareen. "This is Genevive. She'll have no problem finding your way back home. If you could just tell her what your parents look like." Genevive looked less than thrilled to be assisting one of Claude's "lost causes" as she called them on more than one occassion, but she nodded in understanding. "You have my word, sir," she confirmed.

The small foal was surprised to see the red hawk fly down. She had been expecting another soquili to come. It was a nice surprise however. She had never been so close to a hawk before. Part of her wanted to step closer to get a better look, but she was still a bit too nervous. Would the hawk mind....?

"Knight sounds really nice..." Zareen said with a smile. If this man was really telling her the truth than she was quite lucky to run into him. "You must be really brave! Oh... ah...." Ah yes, she had to tell him and Genieve about her family. "My mother is uhm... white with green patches. Her eyes look like mine too! My father's fur is like mine, blue, but no white spots. He's a flutter unicorn. Mother is a normal soquili."

Claude looked to Genevive for confirmation that she heard. The hawk nodded and said, "I'll do my best, this time," she sighed aggrivatedly and nipped his ear so a small pin point of blood seeped out, "be here when I get back." Claude bucked with a laugh. "Be gone with you! Infernal pestulant!" Genevive squaked unapprciativley at being dislodged, but took to the skies non the less. Claude watched for a moment as she became a red point in the sky. Finally he looked down and smiled. "Bravery isn't what you think it is, little one. Now, we much find a mouse for Genevive, or I shall never hear the end of it. She perfers to be fed after returning frmo her missions." He laughed and flipped his mane gently. "Come, I need young eyes. Mine are failing me, I'm so sorry to say." He laughed his hearty laugh once more and sauntered to his left.

Zareen nodded, happy to help this nice soquili and hawk who were so kind to help her. "Your eyes aren't good when you grow up?" She questioned curiously. She had never heard that before and it was a little scary to hear. "Did you get hurt while doing knight things maybe?" Her mind was going to wander off with fantasies of these "knight soquilis" sooner or later, she just knew it.

"When you get to my age, they do. But you've got a long way to go before you reach that point in your life, never fear." Claude laughed and nudged her a little. "Don't get lost, little one, stay near me while we search for payment. The forest is thick, and if I'm not mistaken, a part of Tulgey's stomping grounds." The last thing he needed was for Tulgey to pop up and scare this poor filly. He glanced at her at her question and nodded a little. "No more than you do when you go out and play. I mean, I've never really broken any bones, nor almost died." Well, he thought to himself, that wasn't totally true. He did have the occasional altercations with Deception. This drew his eyes upwards, searching slightly for the brown stallion in the skies. He also didn't need him eating the filly.

"Really? Wow... I'd probably get hurt trying to be a knight. I don't think I could ever be good at being something like that," The filly sighed and moved a little closer to the older soquili like she was told to do so. "I'm not very brave. I wish I was, but I'm not..." Zareen noticed that Claude was looking up, so she looked up as well out of curiousity. "Oh! Is she back already?" She thought he was looking for Genieve since she had no idea what was really going on in the other's mind.
