So far, the most Steampunk thing I have as part of my wardrobe is my glasses (brass frames with leather wrapped arms), so I decided to add more to it.

I'm going to teach myself how to sew, and make a few things.
- Spats for over my dress shoes.
- a steampunk style vest.
- Steampunk gloves.

I also need to buy/find a lot of gears so I can add them to things I already own, make some cool goggles, and make some pendants from them.

Wish me luck.

Good Luck!
I'm going through similar things myself.

Here's a very helpful tutorial about how to make custom spats:

I've already seen it. That's where I got the idea.

Good luck!
I have a minimal steampunk wardrobe as well, but accessories are definitely my favorite. Hats, hair clips, belts, pendants, gloves, ect. You can wear all that over street clothes and it still looks fantastic.

I agree with Violet Fog. It's amazing what some accessories will do. I have a few peices of jewelry that help make a big difference in an outfit. Even just wearing boots or an old-fashioned type of shoe can go a long way to improving the steaminess. (shout out to my thread were just a simple pair of ballet flats effected the outfit).

Also, instead of trying to add a whole bunch at once, just keep your eyes out for things all the time. You will be amazed what you will be able to find and adapt to steampunk. That is actually what makes it fun for me, taking everyday pieces and combining them with additionals and accesories to make a cool and unusual outfit. This is for everyday steampunk more though, not for a costume. You actually get compliments as opposed to stares when you do it this way most of the time.
