My mom is convinced it's government conspiracy.

She says that the terrorists threatened the schools and they're using this as a cover up to close stuff down.

My school is closed for the next week. (I live in Texas)

How's the H1N1 virus affected you guys?
PostPosted: Fri May 01, 2009 6:04 pm

it is absolutely completely retarded and it's being made a huge deal so the government can have an economic scapegoat and it is not nearly as bad as anyone is making it out to be and everyone should just shut up and ignore it.

I won't go to school till Wednesday next week. An even so, if schools are being closed down so far to the North, I doubt I will re-start classes that day.

By the way, you and I are close to each other.

Pixie: I think the measures are being a *bit* exaggerated. [/sarcasm]
And the government here is making a huge deal of it, especially since we have elections in July. ¬¬
They are using it to help them in their campaign. rolleyes

Seriously.
It's annoying, I'm tired of hearing it.

What do you mean we're close to each other? O.O... Are you like standing outside my germ free zone?

I REALLY don't understand HOW they're making a bigger deal out of this. People are dying... like they get up, go to work and a couple days later they're dead. People just want to NOT die.

Buzz, maybe Luna was just saying that because she lives in Mexico and I live in Texas we're near each other geographically. biggrin

Also: Yeah. I'm sick of it too. we had a big thunderstorm and my friend Logan was like,
Logan: Hey, Rachelle, you see that dark cloud over there?
Rachelle: Yeah..
Logan: That's the swine flu.

I don't really care though. I'm getting out of school for the flu.. but they're also canceling all school related activities.

No school play, no talent show, no awards ceremony, no track meet. :/

OMG EVERYONE PANIC!!!!!!

Honestly this un-pandemic just continues to prove this: "None of us is as stupid as all of us."

1. "Swine Flu" is probably the least deadly wave of the flu bug in the past decade. Note how you haven't heard this before reading it here.
2. Yes, I did just base my statement off of anonymous's "None of us is as evil as all of us." I feel that my statement is more accurate than theirs.

Edit: Apperantly if the H1M1 bug gets on your hands you'll die all you need to do is rub your hands together for 30 seconds to kill +90% of the bug. You have to be living in constant poor hygene to get the worst of this bug.

Edit2: The only confirmed American death was that of a 22 month old baby (fact? I didn't check this). Not enough data has been compiled for scientists to determine if the swine flu is an actual health concern grave enough to reasonably disrupt daily life (this is a fact, due to lack of evidence to the contrary).

Edit3: Why does Mexico get blammed for everything bad that happens to our economy?

One good thing came out of this whole thing though. We got an Obama joke.

There once was a day where a black man could only be president when pigs could fly. And now, 100 days into Obama's presidency, Swine Flu,

The symptoms aren't even all that bad, a sore throat, weakened immune system, sinus headache. It's the not knowing if you actually have it and telling it apart from allergies is the real killer!

That reminds me of a joke we made here.
Last week, about two days after my country got an alarm for the flu, there was an earthquake in the capital.

"Q=What did Mexico City say about the epidemic?
A= I'm trembling in fear!"

Buzz: Yeah, I meant that Vani and I are close to each other geographically.

Vani: I have homework. Our teachers have our parents' e-mail addresses and they used it to send us homework. xD

It's so weird, there have been schools closing up where I live. o.o
I don't think much of the epidemic.
Though my Mom conveniently now has a miserable sore throat and is in bed feeling miserable and sick. I highly doubt she actually has it though.

Didn't Grunny Boy get that joke from a classmate of ours? I can't remember who though.

The original strain of the Flu virus is actually more dangerous than this "Swine" flu. One person has died from it in the US so far, and it was a toddler.

I forget the actual numbers but I think it was around 30,000 something people that die in the US of the flu annually.

The fact that they're shutting down schools is kinda scary actually. =

I didn't hear anything about schools shutting down.

I REALLY LOVE YOUR AVI CHERRY! biggrin

Um I hate swine flu. Its totally freaking lots of my international friends out, because lots of them have family/friends coming to visit them now that school is over everywhere else, and since they're threatening shutting down airports because of h1n1 they might not be able to come. How lame is that? Shutting down airports because some people got the flu rolleyes They should shut it down when people get strep throat too, or lice, or chicken pox. Those are all just as contagious and inconvienant. I would rather get swine flu than lice.

Listen, I'm all for the study and preparations for a potentially bad outbreak... I know that stuff like that DOES happen, and it would be very nice to have our ducks in a line when the times comes...

However, even then, going overboard with hysteria is NOT the answer...

And right now, we're not anywhere near that.

I... have no idea who to blame other than the media throwing things waaaaay out of proportion to get viewing figures... and the many people that fall for it...

I mean... it's like "The swine flu is going to kill us all! Don't go outside! Don't go to the store... etc. But, don't forget to watch our show tomorrow!"

@___@

So, yeah. Scary potential threat is scary, but it's being waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overhyped. @_@
